  1. Thanks everyone.. ideally I would love to have them in the balcony room right next to ours or have a room big enough for all of us but financially that just ain't happening. lol! They don't spend a lot of time in their room anyways.. I do wish their door was right across the hall though instead of an interior corridor. Hopefully it will all work out.

  2. I wonder why they have this rule at booking since it's so easy to change it on board. Why not just allow two kids to be assigned to a cabin and then on the reservation list the responsible adult and the cabin number the adult would be staying in. You could accomplish this easily by booking the adult cabin first and then booking the child's cabin.

As one person said, if it's a legal booking requirement, why is the requirement no longer a legal issue after you step on the ship. I don't want them to change their policy, I'm just curious. What makes it a legal issue at booking and not a legal issue once you step on the ship. Perhaps it's the fact that a child cannot contract to sail but that is alleviated by requiring an adult's information at booking.

I guess it's easier to do things the hard way.

I have often wondered the same thing. As for the liability issue, could be but I would think that the guest services wouldn't change it either once you are on board as they would have to physically change it which would ruin their excuse of deniability so who knows. It's my 17 year old son and his 18 year old friend (like our son) who will be in an interior and we will be in a balcony. While the interior room is directly across from ours it apparently is an interior with an interior corridor so I hope it all works out. I will definitely introduce myself to their room steward. This will be our first cruise on Norwegian. :D

  3. Agree with the above posters. Kids will be fine in khaki shorts. And the kids menu has a lot of choices. One of my daughters got pizza and one got chicken tenders every night. And they have the choice of ordering iff adult menu as well. They will accommodate just about anything. My daughter asked for a bowl of strawberries every night and he would get it for her. We couldn't afford Atlantis either so we just took advantage of the empty ship after we walked around the port for a bit. We just got off the boat last Monday and I wish I were still on it.. Have fun!

  4. Also, be sure to pack the kids' sneakers because if I recall, they cannot play gaga ball without sneakers. Maybe someone else can confirm that.

And for the Enchantment, you need socks to jump on the trampoline.

As far as the dining room goes, the staff loves kids. One year, we had our son go to dinner with us each night in the main dining room. After our server found out our son liked fruit, they had it waiting for him every night. Another time, my son wasn't too sure about trying a baked Alaska, so our server disappeared and came back with a bowl full of all three kinds of ice cream for him. (Baked Alaska is 3 kinds of ice cream with merengue on it) And once when my steak was cooked wrong, the chef sent out a platter of different flavored cupcakes and frosting in decorator sleeves and sprinkles for my son to frost cupcakes and decorate them. That's only happened one time in 11 cruises and it occurred on the Enchantment this last cruise (2013).

Can you think of any other questions? Your kids will have their own cruise compasses each evening waiting in your room with details of what all is happening the next day for the kids in Adventure Ocean. There's a morning session, afternoon session, and evening session. After 10:00 pm, there's a charge though. We have never had him stay after 10:00 pm, although he would love to. It's hard to drag our kid out of there.

Edited to add, that as soon as you board, you will see a folding table and someone there to greet you from Adventure Ocean. They will put bracelets on your kids that are to be worn the entire cruise. The bracelet has their muster station number on it. They will tell you if there's ever an emergency, the staff takes the kids to the muster station and parents are to meet them at the muster station, not at Adventure Ocean.

We didn't do the adventure dining but going to the dining room and interacting with our waiter was one of my daughters (7 years old) favorite part of the trip. She loved talking to him and teasing him. He also brought her and my younger one the cupcakes with the frosting and sprinkles. His name was Warren and we actually went to breakfast in the dining room every morning and requested him.. We sure do miss him. My daughter didn't wear tennis shoes to kids club but she did play gagaball so I'm not sure what the rules are there.

  5. We have two teenagers that will be in an interior room but for booking purposes we had to put a parent in their room because of their age. We were assured once we board then we can just switch rooms and the teens will be in their room and the parents and younger kids will be in the other room. My question is how will that work with the room key cards. Will guest services just allow the change or will there be a problem with the key cards. As it stands my husband is in a separate room from mine (with the boys) but will actually be in my room on the ship and i want to mame sure he has a key to our room. Sorry if this is confusing.

  6. Just got off Enchantment last weekend and they DO have a nursery for children under 3. My daughter won't be three til October. I was a little apprehensive before I boarded and didn't know if I would put her in or not but I tried it the first night and she LOVED it! They give you a beeper when you sign them in. It differs from the regular kids club because it is not free. I believe it is $6 an hour from noon to 5 and after 5pm it is $8 an hour. I wouldn't hesitate booking the Enchantment. They also have the nursery open at certain times for parent assisted playtime.

  7. Just got off Enchantment and my 7 year loved it! Similar to Carnival. Definitely agree to do the sign up on the first day. They will have two times for that and I recommend the earlier one which is at noon I believe. They will have a blast. Very safe and secure with signing in and out too.

  8. Am I understanding correctly that Bong is still on the Getaway. We are sailing in about 60 days and hope he is going to be on it. He is such a genuinely fun guy. He deserves every employee of the month award he gets.

Kenoqueen, we are on the same cruise and after reading all of these posts I am really hoping he is there and I get to meet him.

  9. I just bought for one out of the four in our stateroom. Under the drink packages there is an asterisk by the alcohol package and the other package that includes wine and no asterisk by the soda package. At the bottom it says that the asterisk means you have to purchase for everyone in stateroom for thos packages which is not for the soda only package. Just look by the terms and conditions.

  10. I googled "illusionarium photo" and the result was renderings of the area. However, there is one photo from someone's blog that shows how high the stage is next to the dining tables and a performer standing on the stage. Maybe that will help. http://travelswithanthony.wordpress.com/tag/illusionarium/ he has a short review of the Getaway which may be of some help to you.

I also found this German Blog but they have a picture of the empty Illusionarium and that may give you a better idea of layout.

Sorry if I missed it but can anyone tell me the regular cost and how much extra for the premium seating. Thanks!

  11. We have stayed at the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming at a $109.00 rate if you tell them you want the NCL rate. Excellent complementary buffet breakfast, free parking, free shuttle to & from the port of Miami & airport, free play voucher to use in the gaming room. Real nice rooms too.

How far is this from the port?

  12. We will be sailing on the Getaway in October with my son who is 17 and his friend who is 18. They are rooming together in an Inside room but since they are under 21 we are putting my husband in the inside and one of the boys in my room for the sake if the booking rules. But when on board switching it back as our rep at NCL told us to do that. My question is, how will the room keys work since my husband will be booked in the inside and one of the boys will be booked in my room. Will we have a problem with this onboard? Sorry if that's confusing. I was a little concerned but was assured this is fine to do by our PCC. Thanks!

  13. Weve done only Carnival as well. But after 4 cruises with them we are ready to try something else. The food was pretty much the same and so was the entertainment on all of our cruises. Being they were way cheaper though that's who we went with. It will be a long time before hubby cruises Carnival again. I on the other hand am just happy to be cruising. I have to say though, we loved the kids club, and the staff on all four was great. No complaints whatsoever there.

Luckily I have 1 RCI and one NCL cruise booked this year and they were both cheaper than Carnival. Dont know what that is about but I am one happy chickie!

  14. I know from direct personal experience that they have bypassed that requirement. My PCC got the UDP, KSF, and Free Upgrade (OV -> BD) for us on a booking for the Getaway!

Do you mind me asking when you booked your cruise and got the UDP? We recently booked and got free upgrade and KSF but not UDP? Just wondering if I should check into it. We are not cruising til October. Thanks!

  15. I only play the slots. So that's what I was referring to. I won't post the names of the machines, but they were the most popular ones you would find at the land casinos.

Thanks, I have only played slot machines about 3 times in my life and never have played table games but it's nice to know for our upcoming cruise. I might have to try them out again! And thanks for the great review!!

  16. CASINO: Last but not least, the casino. What's always interesting to me is that not to many people talk about the casino in the reviews, yet its always packed. Well, I'm changing that. I witnessed people (plural) receiving jackpot handpays everyday. Yes, everyday. I can say everyday I won between $100 and $300 my husband did too. The jackpots people were winning were 5,000, 10,000, 3,000, 25,000. This is just one day. Some people have alot of luck. You will have some luck in the casino, the key is not playing the money you won back. But you will get the fever, especially when people are hitting mega big wins on both sides of you....

What specifically were you playing and were most people winning on table games or slots?
