  1. Thanks for all the feedback! I was wondering last night about school breaks so I am glad denatravels mentioned that. I am wondering if we should just stay a couple days and come back on Sunday. There is a 9:15 am from LGA. We would be staying around 79th and Broadway so I would think if we were in a cab at 6 am on a Sunday we should be to LGA by 7 am. I know traffic is lighter on Sunday mornings. NYC people leaving for school break vaca should be gone. That would be too early for cruise ship passenger traffic to hit. Any thoughts?

  2. Thank you for your input! I did post this in the departure thread after easyboy mentioned it and there was lots of good info there to. We won't be racing off the ship. Nothing like ending a cruise all stressed out about making a flight on time. I think the 2:40 at LGA is looking safer and I'm waiting on a price from dial7. We are definitely going to want to use a porter. Thanks again!

  3. I have cruised with other lines and out of other ports (including Bayonne and Red Hook) but this is my first NCL cruise and first out of the Manhattan port. The ship arrives at 8:00 am on 2/16/18 (friday). The cruise line said to book a flight after 1 pm. While I would like to fly out of LGA I am very concerned about what I am reading about construction and traffic nightmares trying to get to LGA. LGA has flights at 12:30 pm and 2:40 pm. I could book the 2:40 pm at LGA but then I would want to book a transport company in case we end up sitting in traffic on the way to the airport. Due to traffic & construction concerns I am seriously considering flying home from JFK. I can count on a flat rate taxi fare and JFK has a 12:40 pm flight but the next one isn't till 5:00 pm. Should I be concerned about a 12:40 flight out of JFK? I would appreciate feedback from those with experience at this port. If anyone has any recent experience with LGA I would appreciate hearing about that as well. Thanks in advance!

  5. The Mast Grill is not gone!!! There was a short spell on Equinox when it was turned into a pay venue but that ended and its back to normal. Your other options are the Buffet or the Aqua Spa Cafe in the Solarium (which has nothing to do with Aqua Class...)

YEA!! Thank you Helen!! We liked their burgers and dogs.

  6. Can anyone who has recently sailed on Reflection tell us which restaurants are open on embarkation day? We use to go to Bistro and that is gone. Then we went to the Mast Grill and that is gone. I expect the buffet will be a zoo. We are not CC or in a suite. Thanks for your input!

  7. ...so I was walking down to the restaurant with my stuffed bird on the shoulder of my life jacket, trying to keep my Burger King crown on with one hand, when this wig comes at my face from nowhere....:D

    LOL 😂

Okay, so that doesn't sound so crazy. Well, how about if the gentleman wore the life vest during the entire cruise. Yep - he even wore it over his tuxedo at dinner on formal night. I guess you have to give him credit for being aboard even though he was scared of water.

  8. Can anyone tell me if the soda in the Soda and More is only fountain or is it canned? It looks like bottled water is not included in that package, is that correct? Also, I see I can buy bottled water through the Cruise Personalizer and have it delivered to the cabin. It also says I can ONLY do it through the Personalizer. Is that true? I can't buy a case or half case of water on board and have it delivered to the cabin? Thanks for your help.

  9. Funny thing. My husband and I both have tattoos and I have a problem with my weight that I've spent the last year finally getting a handle on. Our next cruise on X is a celebration of my graduation from medical school at the age of 39.

If you see us across Michael's Club or Luminae, you needn't lower yourself to try and have a conversation us "less classy" people.

    Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on graduating from medical school! Enjoy that next cruise!

  10. tweetylori.....Thanks for the review and the pics. We are usually on Eclipse but it is nice to see pics of a sister ship. I was hoping you could answer a few questions for me.

Did you have any rough water coming over? We have been on cruises ranging from gliding on glass to things falling off shelves so I am just wondering what to expect as we have never done a transatlantic. I know there are no guarantees but I was wondering what you experienced. I have heard heading south is better than heading north. Our roughest water was on an East Coast/Canada cruise.

I see lots of slacks and jackets in the pictures. When did the weather warm get to where people would be out at the pool? Say 70's?

I believe you said this was your first Celebrity cruise so it may be hard for you to answer but were there extra activities on board once you were in constant sea days? Were there multiple enrichment speakers?

If nothing else your pictures are getting me ready for our February cruise :) Glad you had a nice experience and thanks again for taking the time to share it with us.

  11. We were in Italy and had told so to the credit union and used our cards several times. However, we happened to go past a Deutsche Bank ATM and tried to get some cash. The ATM refused the transaction apparently because it was on a German network and not an Italian network, so our credit union thought we were not in Italy. The machine did not eat the card since we did not attempt to reuse it, but it was frozen by our credit union.

The moral of the story is, use the ATM from a local bank, not a foreign bank!!!

BTW - install Skype in your cell phone for those emergency phone calls

Great advice. I never would have thought about sticking to local ATM's.
