  1. I haven't been on NCL in a few years.  I've been on a few other lines in the meantime.  Some lines and ships have an app and because of the limited amount of wifi let through to connect to the app you are able to access imessaging without any internet plan on board.  Does this leak of wifi happen on NCL as well with their app?  I would like to be able to contact my kids at home while I'm on board.  Thanks

  2. If we are planning on spending a few hours at the beach am I able to grab a mini box of cereal (cheerios) for my kids for a snack?   I know we have done this is some of the Caribbean ports and as long as it is a packaged item it has been fine but every country is different.  First time on Celebrity, do they have those mini cereal boxes?  I don't plan on being a tourist that the banana dogs are sniffing out, but a quick beach snack is nice.

    Thanks

  3. I've exchanged money on Norwegian and Royal and have gotten better rates than at home with my bank.  First time on Celebrity next month so I don't know how they do it but I've been pleasantly surprised on other lines.

  4. Can someone please clarify this for me.  In the past it has had to be cans brought on.  My son had a mini bottle of soda taken as they said it had to be in a can to prove it hadn't been tampered with.  Is this still the case?  12 cans can be brought on per person?  Thanks

  5. I was on the Dawn 3 years ago and really enjoyed the entertainment on it. The Earth, Wind, Fire show (I believe that is what it was called), acrobats, etc. I have been on 13 cruises and the shows it offered have been our favourite. He have been on NCL, Royal and Carnival but open to other suggestions.

Has anyone been on another ship recently with similar style of shows vs the typical musicals?

    Thanks

  6. I was on the Fantasy April 2017 and Mikey was the cruise director. He was amazing. I don't usually care who the cruise director is, they aren't going to make or break my holiday. He was the first cruise director in my 15 cruises that actually stood out. We will be in the south again this fall and I'm deciding between the Triumph (about a half hour closer to where we will be) or the Fantasy. Last year we really enjoyed the Fantasy but I'm wondering if it will be disappointing without Mikey.

Anyone been on with and without him. Is it still a fun crew with plenty going on?

  7. I agree that the Dawn does not have anything comparable to the waterfront on the Breakaway but the Dawn is amazing and unique in it's own ways. There was some outdoor space to relax, we had a balcony but did not spend much time on it.

Of my 13 cruises (11 different ships, 3 different lines) the Dawn has been my favourite and I'll be back on her again soon.

  8. It won't slow you down. I couldn't get mine to upload my first time on the Anthem and they just quickly take them when you check-in. It takes an extra 30 seconds.

Gold Level starts after your first cruise on Royal so yes that is why. Here is a link to benefits. https://dlxffu6hwewxp.cloudfront.net/cas/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/CAS_Member_Benefits_Grid_11.6.17-1.pdf The onboard loaded offers are BOGO drinks, BOGO Milk Shake, etc. You will have a letter in your room upon arrival that tells you what they are

  9. I drove from London to Bayonne in November and February. I've made the drive 10-12 times, it isn't bad. Google maps will generally give you two options, they are similar in time but one is major highway, has tolls and has some nice views but is very up and down (over to Syracuse then down to Binghamton). I prefer the route that goes south first then over to Binghamton. Both are very easy though.

We have stayed at The Holland Hotel, it was $100CAD. It was nice. Very clean, friendly staff, well stocked free breakfast. It has a restaurant next door and a mall across the street, nice area. Parking lot was well lit and it is a nice area. We also spent our evening in NYC. The PATH ($2.75 each way, and 10 minute ride) is right at the mall and we took it to the 9/11 memorial, took the subway up to Central Park, toured around, and took the PATH back south of Times Square. Parking for the night is free, but we left our car there for $100 for the 9 days. Uber was $16 to the port on a Friday and $14 back on a Saturday. There were 4 of us.

*it is 5 minutes from Carlo's Bakery if you are looking for a fun place to stop for a snack

  11. I have been on both and they both have their perks. Can you share a little about yourself or what you are looking for?

If going in the winter (say November to March) I would say Anthem hands down. It is made for the cold. A huge family indoor pool and a large adult only indoor area. The seaplex is a great family/teen/adult space for all weather as well.

The breakaway for kids/young teens has the high ropes and mini golf which is great, but not when it is snowing ;)

Breakaway has drink promo which could save you a few hundred potentially depending on your sailing, or the dining promo which could also save some money. We didn't do any specialty dining on either ship and would say Breakaway had better complimentary options.

It is all dependent on what you are looking for in a holiday. Neither is a bad choice!

  12. Currently it is The Gift, Caberet and We Will Rock You.

You can find plenty of reviews, good and bad, about all of them on here. Personally we enjoyed The Gift, Caberet was okay, and Rock was good the first hour or so, but it was a little dragged out and by the end of the two hours we had enough.

  13. I'd recommend The Holland Hotel. It is a 5 minute (safe) walk to the PATH, $90ish per night including free parking and basic breakfast. You can leave your truck there for $100 for the week you are gone. You could even take the light rail to 34th street and Uber it to port (approx. $11 for the last few blocks to the ship from the station). If you google it (or tripadvisor) you'll see plenty of great reviews by others for trips similar to yours
