Thank y ou for your responses and reassurances. I am sure we will enjoy travelling at a leisurely pace and having great views from our balcony, meeting new people and being well looked after.

We have just booked a 2 week cruise on the Amavenita from Budapest to Amsterdam in May 2020 in a twin balconies cabin.
It's our 1st River cruise, previously we have only done ocean cruising.
Any advice on topics such as dress code for evenings, excursions or must see places would be most appreciated.
Thanks Jane

How’d you dry the stuff that can’t go in the dryer?
We have a magnetic line complete with pegs which we use in the bathroom for hand washed items, also hang the clothes on hangers and air dry in the cabin overnight.

The one time I decided to use it, I took someone''s clothes our of the machine as it was finished and put them into a basket. You should have heard the language when the person came back. It was like I was infected with something. Now I just take everything home. I don't do laundry when I'm on holiday.
We would normally wait until we got home but this time we are on board for 4 weeks and we are flying back so are restricted with luggage, so unfortunately will have to visit the laundry!!

Do you have to book to use the laundry?, can you set the machine going and leave it do you have to stay for the machine to finish.

We were on Equinox at the endof March. Silk Harvest was really great. We were a party 6 and we all enjoyed the food. Many different Asian flavours. Some of our party returned later in the week. Would definitely recommend eating there. Also got great discounts on the price.

As soon as the ship is cleared by the Port Authority they will make an announcement that all people taking off their own luggage can do so. It depends on what time the ship docks. We were off the Equinox in Miami by 7.00am.

Got off the Equinox last week, saw casual to dressed up on all nights. You will be ok casual

We cruised the Inside passage the last week of May in 2008 and the weather was really good*, bright sunshine, beautiful views, lots of wildlife. Only really cold when we got up close to the Hubbard Glacier. We were very fortunate.

We are also on this cruise. We have never found the ship to be cold in the evening, but always pack a pashmina just in case.
The weather in the Med should still be very nice at this time of year.
We are packing for warm weather but including a couple of jumpers and jackets for the return especially across the Bay of Biscay.
As we have no restriction on baggage allowance from Southampton we always take a waterproof jacket and a small umbrella just in case.
Hope this helps a little.
