Hope you had a wonderful trip. We would love to hear details when you have settled in back home. We board World Voyager in February and would love to hear how Atlas is doing this year. Thank you for posting.

We applied and received confirmation from our TA within two days on two cruises booked with the new package.

That sounds great. What insurance company?

Do you sign up for the cooking classes before boarding or after you embark?

When we went on our first Viking cruise I was sure I'd just send DH's laundry. That lasted one day. His came back so perfect that mine went too. I never looked back and it is one thing I really look forward to make my vacation. Beautifully boxed folded items and hangers of the pressed shirts etc.

Go for it you and your family will have wonderful memories. We have seen many your age having a great time, we hope to be able to travel at that age. Airports all have golf carts to drive you from the gate, as some are long walks. Many passengers never leave the ship and are very happy.

Have you observed any Viking employee tell a passenger to put their mask on? I was recently on a flight where not one flight attendant said a word to the "chin" people. Unbelievable.
Yes often, especially when leaving the dining rooms.

I'm aware that saliva samples must be given to steward by 8am each morning. Just want to make sure we are able to leave cabin prior to that time for coffee, walk or whatever.
Yes, just leave it for your steward to pick up and go about your day. Very easy, no fuss.

We (DH and myself) did two weeks in Iceland onboard Sky in July. Day two the Viking daily listed 7:00 PM "Solo Travelers Meet & Greet" in the Explorers Lounge. It s very easy to find good conversation on board a Viking ship, we have found fellow passengers very friendly. Go for it, I bet you will love it. Let us all know when you return if we are correct.

How about the lunch on the Golden Circle tour? I like fish so that would be fine with me. I also like to try different things and see if I like them.
All the tour lunches, including the Golden Circle, we did served a soup and fresh fish with potatoes and a vegetable. The fish was excellent everywhere, simple and very fresh.

The directions there are for home testing - not the monitored procedure you will need to follow for returning to the US. If you purchase your kit at a local drug store there is a very good chance it is not acceptable for international testing for entry to the US nor for entry to Iceland. Please see the link in post #2684 for information on how to determine which test you can use - hint - the box indicates it includes an app for your smart phone. Although they are likely identical tests the test you take for entry/re-entry has to be a monitored test.
Sorry my bad I'll blame jet lag , we used: https://www.globalpointofcare.abbott/en/product-details/binaxnow-covid-19-home-test-us.html Blue box which was monitored by virtual proctor. I detailed this in my earlier post.

The Abbott test I found was a rapid antigen test as is the one Delta is selling. If yours is a home PCR test please let me know the name.
Hopefully Iceland will decide to allow antigen tests for vaccinated travelers. They specifically do not allow an antigen test and require a PCR test for non vaccinated travelers. We used the Abbott test to return to USA, not enter Iceland. We heard there that Icelandic officials are evaluating allowing antigen test It worked great for that and was very easy to take when we had free time. The nasal swab was much easier then I expected, lower nostril nasal swab (not the deeper nasopharyngeal swab). Here is a link to the test we used: BinaxNOW: What You Need to Know | Abbott Newsroom

Thanks for the info. I saw this. Did you drop off the results to a lab in Iceland for analysis? Also, I wonder if this would work for travel to Iceland, or if it's just for return.
We used it in Iceland hotel room, logged on to their website, told how long wait for ‘test proctor’ 30 minutes for us. They came on video chat guided us through the nasal swap which you add to the test liquid all provided in test kit. Wait 15 minutes results are done in front of you. Really easy. They email you results too. We just showed that at airport KEF. Waiting for our flight now. Iceland is still working on the new testing details I believe, but betting it will be excepted here too.

That’s going to create a major problem for us. We’ll have to get our test on a Saturday or Sunday. The only place around here that has a 24 hour turnaround for PCR tests is closed weekends.
We used the Abbott home test, bought directly from them for about $45. Very easy, you call in when ready to take the test, about 45 minutes total and have the results emailed to you. We used it for our return to US JFK tomorrow. I believe it is the only home test excepted by CDC for this use.

We are on the July 10 Viking Sky cruise and would do this cruise again just as it is in a New York Minute! It has had some missed opportunities but I believe everyone on board except maybe the passenger that tested positive has had a wondetful cruise. Viking and its crew has done their best to make the best onan unfortnate situation and in my opinion has succeeded. Is there anyone on this cruise that disagrees??
We are also onboard and AGREE 110%,!! The crew is outstanding and have gone above and beyond to make our cruise wonderful.

can someone one who took the Zodiac trip in Djupivogur please tell me they made a stop by Diamond beach? thank you!
Yes, we stopped on the way back to the ship for about 20 minutes. We thought it was one of the best tours ever, I’m sure beautiful weather helped.

I am asking anyone who has made Spa reservations can they still see them on their MVJ calendar? I thought they were there but they're not there now. Did Viking chat and agent could not access Spa reservation info to confirm. Said to confirm onboard. Meanwhile all times for all days booked.
Our spa treatment have now returned to our MVJ calendar after being gone this afternoon. 🤩

Does anyone know when and how we will be providing proof of vaccination to VO?

As soon as I go to My Viking Journey to try logging on yet one more time I immediately see a message saying the site is down but suggesting that in the meantime I call a number posted there. Tried it and have been on hold for 15 minutes. Do you think there's any point in continuing? I don't--but I want to be able to assure myself that I tried everything.
We called, got through 20 minutes later. "Sorry we can't book excursions for you"
