  1. Hi everyone

We are looking into getting this card and we are booked on an upcoming cruise that my parents have paid for (I know pretty lucky). What I am wondering is if I can transfer my points to the new reserve card and then use those points at 1.5 to pay for our excursions through the chase travel website. TIA!

Hi, the good news is you can transfer your Ultimate Reward points to your Reserve card and get that 1.5x point purchase rate for buying a cruise, hotel, airfare or cars, but I honestly have no clue about excursions. I'm assuming yes, but you'd have to check with Chase.

  2. Everyone has their own way of eating eggs. Here's my way.

    Eat whites.

    Put eggs on toasts.

Clean up the goodness with toast and consume. Lisa thinks I'm nuts, she doesn't eat eggs. Anyone who eats them will totally get it, as we each have our own way.

That's the only way to eat eggs, I love using the toast's natural absorbency to soak up the deliciousness! Nice!

  3. Stop by Jaxons in Dania Beach (Ft Lauderdale) before you turn in the rental. :D

Jaxons is a neat experience! We brought the family there late one weekday night and the line was long, but went fast and was worth it! There are some nostalgic candies for sale there from when we were younger. You can buy Owen those candy cigarettes to impress the people on the starboard side of the ship!

  4. Any chance you can post those pics?:)

Hi Tiffers, thanks for reminding me!

Here are a smattering of images taken inside the cabin and on the balcony, including a few panoramic and 360: https://goo.gl/photos/UcaLpywCzdKbZHpL8

Also, here is a Periscope video that my son assisted me on: https://www.periscope.tv/w/1lDxLVDzrMbGm

We really enjoyed the cabin. The service on the ship was terrific, Royal standard's everywhere, comparable to all the other ships we've been on. I read some negative service reviews before the cruise but we didn't experience anything negative I can recollect... Also, having been on mostly Oasis class we thought we would have missed a lot of the theme park, but we didn't notice any of us longing for anything in particular. It's truly a wonderful ship. Oh, if you have anyone that likes playing video games you can get PS3 games from the concierge and play them with the console in the cabin too.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll try to answer.

  5. What a great review Andrew!

It was a pleasure meeting you and Lisa in person! I am sad I didn't participate in the comments of your review. My participation on cruisecritic dropped a few days before we left for South Florida.

I have since read the entire review:

    • What a wonderful and informative review!
    • I do like that Remembrance Day Tribute!
    • I am happy to know I'm not the only person who has a document saved for a packing list (one for Disney and one for cruises haha).
    • I'm delighted you liked the CruisingKat gift -- it was fun sneaking up there. I cloak and daggered up there with my friend and we could have sworn we heard noise in the room when I stuck it to the door.
    • Congrats to Owen on the Silver Stick hockey tournament award!
    • Sorry about the snow, but you can always come down to Sarasota!

I hope we can cruise together again in the future. You are a fun person to chat with!!

  6. *** disclaimer***** I, myself have no firsthand experience with bed bugs, however the company I work for has, and as such I was trained in bed bug detection.

The first place you check is by peeling back the fitted sheet of your mattress, pay close attention to the piping around the mattress, carefully look in the crevice to see if there are any live or dead bugs. Even if you don't find any, if you find tiny dark stains (blood spots), this is also evidence that bed bugs were (are) there.

Check behind pictures on the walls, and look in and around electrical sockets - these are bed bug hiding places.

Never leave your suitcase on the floor, always use a luggage rack.

    Hope this helps.....

    Eww, what a yucky subject!

We own multifamily apartments and occasionally this happens in some of the nicest places, but people who travel may eventually get these.

What ckrobyn said is what our pest control has told me too. In addition, they told me to check behind the headboard and under bedding, but typically, they like to lay eggs on the wood behind the headboard (if there is one).

When I go anywhere, I check all around the bed for eggs. Haven't found any yet but luck favors the prepared mind!

I don't mind getting bit but getting rid of bedbugs scares me lol (even in a small area). Everything needs to be emptied, covered, washed in hot water and even then there is a chance you didn't get them. I've seen everything from bleach, baby powder and chemicals and nothing works 100% of the time. Smaller apartments are easier than a large single family house, but either way, make sure you don't bring them back to your home from that one night hotel stay!

  7. Hello all, I've been following this wonderful thread and you've had some great posts and pictures. Informative and entertaining!!

Question for you. I know there aren't many children on board but there must be some... Can you check the compass and relay the Adventure Ocean hours?

Our three little ones are coming with us and it's going to be so fun! They love AO and we love that they love it lol!

Thanks again and you all still have about a week left, amazing! I look forward to doing a transatlantic after reading about the fun you guys are having!
