  1. There is a story that goes with this picture. At 41 my sister had a major stroke. To save her life they had to do surgery and as a result, take out about 1/3 of her skull....it stayed safe in her belly for over a year (because she had a staph infection post op they did not want to put it back too soon) while she recovered. At her most critical moment in the ICU, I held her hand and told her if she would only open her eyes I would take her anywhere in the world she wanted to go....her eyes flew open (the first of many miracles!), and as soon as she came off the ventilator she requested we go on a cruise. So in late April this year, almost 2 years after her stroke, we boarded the Legend with our mom, our other sister, two nieces and my sisters’ best friend. My sister wanted to swim with the dolphins more than anything else, so I scheduled the Royal Swim. Although VERY skeptical when we arrived, given my sisters physical limitations, the staff agreed to "let her try”. This picture was taken during the foot push.....what you can't see are the six women standing in the water watching her, laughing and crying at the same time. Since this day, my sister has continued to recover, expanding her horizons daily; because this moment in time renewed her confidence and made her realize that ANYTHING is possible!

The picture and story behind it brought me to tears. Thank you for such a wonderful photo and explanation.

  2. Someone may have already posted this question , but how soon is the munster drill ?we are looking foreward to cruise in Feb, and dont want to miss sail-away.

I'm sorry but I had to burst out laughing at the fact that you called it the Munster drill. I don't think they will be there but there is a muster drill. Sorry, it just cracked me up.

  3. The last one I know about was 1/13/08, I was there. Hope that helps.

I figured that if it was done on January 13, 2008, and it is done about every 90 days the next one should have been about April 13, 2008, then July 13, 2008, and then October 12, 2008. I hope this is correct because we sail on September 7, and would hate to get held up due to customs of the crew. Did anyone sail on April 13 on the Conquest?

  4. Ive never booked while on a cruise since I usually always have another booked anyway, but I think you do get OBC and no it does not have to be booked with the ship you are on...

I just talked to Carnival about the perks and this is what I was told:

3-4 day cruise $50 OBC per stateroom

5-6 day cruise $75 OBC per stateroom

6-7 day cruise $100 OBC per stateroom

8-12 day cruise $200 OBC per stateroom

You still have to pay the full deposit per person so save those quarters from the casino!!!!!

  5. The depth is the same on all three, the length is different on each level. Click on this picture, then click on "full size" at the top right. Make a close examination and I think you will see what I mean.

Is the balcony that is on the corners (very large), is that one balcony or shared by more than one? Anyone have an answer to that?

  6. Does anyone know what the tours are for disembarkation day? Things in Galveston? Houston? Do they bring you back to the airport (IAH)?

We're not flying out until the day after but thought a tour of the area might be fun right after we get off the boat.

My husband and I have booked a four hour jetty/bay fishing trip. $25 per person and they provide the reels and bait. Go to Galveston Party Boats website. Really good deal and good company.

  7. Sorry, have to disagree with the nascar fan (?) Although Gaido's is family owned and does contribute to Galveston Island's history, it is NOT a place I would recommend for your overnight stay on this wonderful island. There are many, MANY other places. I would definitely stay on the seawall just for the fun of it, it is fun to watch all the people and activity along the famous seawall all day and into the evenings. I don't know your price range but there is also a Galveston favorite- The Commodore. It is older but still very nice and convenient to everything and has a certain style to it. It sits right on the seawall with all rooms facing the ocean. You also have the San Luis, the Hilton, and there is a new Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort. If you don't want to stay on the seawall then there is the neatest hotel on the harbor called Harbour House Hotel. Doesn't look like a hotel but it is really a neat place and you can wake up and look out the window and see the harbor and if you're on the left side you can even see your ship docked! Make sure you visit the Strand Historic district.

Nothing against Gaido's- just would not recommend it, it is old, has a musty smell and needs major renovations.

Has anyone ever stayed in the Flagship Hotel? It is the hotel located on the pier. We are booked there for Sept 6, 2008 for our Sept 7 cruise. We don't have to worry about the port of galveston parking cost because my husband is a disabled veteran and our parking is free at the Port. We lucked out on that one. Any reviews on the Flagship?

  8. We are going on our first cruise on the Conquest on September 7, 2008, and I want to get a hammock in MoBay. Does anyone have any suggestions or information on about how much we will pay and where the best place to get one is? Really want to get the hammock as a gift and one for ourselves. I can't wait for shopping. Also, is Sunset Beach the one with the water park? How do we sign up for an excursion there? Does anyone have any info about that?

  9. Hey everyone! I will be sailing on the carnival conquest Sept. 30. I will be on the panarama deck room 1041. First question, has anyone stayed on that deck, and if so did they enjoy it? And I am 23 and will be on my honeymoon, does anyone have any suggestions for fun things to do. Should I book my excursions through Carnival, or independent? Where can I find the roll call for this cruise?

Honey if you need suggestions on what to do on your honeymoon.... Just kidding. Congratulations. We are going on the Conquest Sept 7 for our 3rd anniversary. Have a great time and Have a wonderful life together.

  10. Hey everyone - I was on the conquest in September. I have capers, TONS of pictures (check em out - http://sgr818.dotphoto.com and go to cruise pictures you'll find onboard the ship pics along with pics from the 3 ports). I'd be happy to answer any questions ya'll have! Happy sailing!

Just the person I want to talk to. We are cruising the Conquest on September 7, 2008, and I was wondering how the weather was that time of year. Also, do you have capers you can send? lbroyles@cityoftulsa.org I am so excited about this cruise. My first. We will be celebrating our 3rd anniversary. Too many questions, not enough brain cells right now. Arrrggghhhhh!!!!! It's like walking into a Wal-Mart and forgetting everything you came to get. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Lets make 1 thread that is nothing but Conquest only questions, and that way everyone whom has a question about the Conquest, can go straight to this thread, without searching lots of other thread for information!

FABULOUS....... All but the fact that you are a Tony Stewart Fan..... frown...... Go Jeff Gordon..... Now that I got that out of my system. Does anyone know who will be the Cruise Director on the Conquest for the September 7, 2008, cruise? This will be our first cruise and we are hoping for a great CD. Also, on another thread someone mentioned that you can bring a case of bottled water on board with you. Does anyone have any information about that. My reason for asking is that I drink bottled bottle but add the sugar free sweeteners to them which are not available on board. Any suggestions on this????
