  1. It's been a while since I cruised on Carnival.  My last cruise I was able to put my room card in the slot machine and download cash to gamble with.  They didn't charge to do this.  They did charge a fee if you got chips at the table.  Is this still the same now?

Going on our first "Ultra Cruise".

    Vista 11/09/2019 leaving Galvestion.

Any other gamblers booked from this board.

and yes I know about the Roll Call boards.

    offer wasn't all that great

    500 off cabin rates

    250 OBC

    DUI (casino only)

Don't miss out on the tournament for slots.  I did a Gateway and only 7 people come to the tourney.  Top six were in a spin off and the prizes ranged from $500 to $50.  One cruiser told me she just did not want to get up at 10 am to go.  I won $150 which helped with my loses.  As for DUI, we walked into the casino asked for drinks without playing and got them to go to dinner.

I have done this on my last three cruises on Carnival Pride in which we were in the same Ocean Suite each time.  I leave behind my used-but-not-used-up battery-operated tealight candles.  I buy them new for each cruise, use them as nightlights in the bathroom, and then, at the end of the cruise, I leave one of them behind, in the same place that I left the previous trips' candles.  I write "ShakyBeef" and the year on it in Sharpie, then place right next to the previous ones.

I did this in February 2013, September 2016, and November 2017.  In 2014, we stayed in an Aft Wrap Vista Suite, and I didn't leave a candle there.  But we have stayed in this same OS at least four times, and on our second or third time in what we think of as "Our Suite", I decided on a whim to play this little game.

I decided to do so based mainly on the amount of filth and debris and trash left in various places from previous passengers.  I don't care what anyone says, those cabins do NOT get cleaned properly (at least not anywhere near my standards of "clean") between guests.  So I wondered how long does this crap build up, and how long would it be before something I leave would be removed?  The place I chose to leave my candles is one of the places that I clean on every cruise, on Embarkation Day.  But it is obviously not a spot that any Room Steward cleans even once a year.🤢

When I placed the November 2017 candle (our most recent cruise in "Our Suite"), the 2016 and 2013 candles were still there (and one of them still worked).

So where did you leave them?

That's the same card that gives me the offer.

That "big box store" always charges a cancellation fee right, even when you book a refundable rate with that cruise line?  I don't like that.

I don't think they charge a fee.  The rate was $300 cheaper than my casino rate because it was a buyer's choice.  So let's hope I don't have to cancel.

It will depend how it posts as a final transaction.  Qualifying transactions post to my AMEX as with the merchant as "CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE RSVR" or "CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES RESERVATION".

If you purchased Cruise Cash through the Fun Shops, those have always posted to my Carnival MC (I've never used AMEX for Fun Shops purchases) as "CARNIVAL- THE FUN SHOP".  I'm pretty sure the AMEX offer is triggered by charges from Carnival Reservations, not just Carnival.

I've always gotten an email from AMEX thanking me for participating in the promotion within minutes of making a qualifying transaction.  Did you get an email?

So How did you purchase the cruise cash to get it to show up as reservation?

  7. I booked a cabin on a deck with rooms above and below, but did not realize there was a door to the walking deck right next to the room and the crews party room was across the hall.  Between people slamming the deck door and crew going in and out it was a very loud room.  I would have been better off above a bar.
