  1. No trouble at all :)

Joseph our taxi driver quoted us around $40 roundtrip for the two of us ($20 each) AND he took payment WHEN we got back to the ship!!!!!!!!!

We asked to be picked up at 3 and he was running a few minutes late due to traffic so he actually phoned the restuarant to let us know this :)

Again one of the best days of the best ever holidays :)

what's the name of the restuarant/bar? I was thinking about Jolly beach too but you've sparked my interest in this little Gem.

  2. My husband and I went on our first cruise on the Carnival Conquest September 7, yes, the Hurricane Ike storm and yes we lost our vehicle. Anyway, being the lawbreakers that we are, we packed 2 bottles of Bloody Mary Mix, 2 bottles of wine, one bottle of vodka, one bottle of rum, 12 bottles of water, 12 Pepsi, 6 Sierra Mist, 6 Diet Mt. Dew and 6 Diet Dr. Pepper. Then when we went to Jamaica we got 4 sample rum bottles from the Appleton Rum Factory, Large bottle of Banana Cream Rum, Irish Cream Rum, Rum Brandy, regular rum and no one made us turn them over until the last of the cruise. But then again, we didn't volunteer to go to the table to turn them over. We also purchased a sample set of Milangro Tequila on the ship and 5 sample bottles of Absolut Vodka in 5 flavors. Those last two items were kept until the end of the cruise but then again, who cares.... we had more alcohol in our room than most of the bars..... Party on Garth.... Party on Wayne!!!!!!!!! And just so you know, we ended up with a bottle of champagne in a gift basket that had been sent for our anniversary and another bottle of Chardonney wine as a gift in a fruit basket. And the funny thing.... we ended up bringing all the alcohol home except for a small amount of the rum and vodka, all the wine, champagne and the rum from Appleton. Unless you are a drinker.... don't bring more than you will drink. It takes up way too much luggage room and you just have to lug it back home. And, not a bottle was broken in embarkation or debarkation. Woo Hoo!!!!!!

wow a cruiser after my own liver!

  3. This may be already addressed here but I didn't want to read backwards through the whole string so..............

People need to keep in mind that the Priceline rooms do not guarantee occupancy for more than two people. It does not mean that you can't get a room for more but be prepared. I know some stories where people didn't fully realize this and they got stuck.

Now with Hotwire you can guarantee. You will likely pay a few $ more but still get a good deal and piece of mind. If you're only looking for two people then I'd definitley start with Priceline though.

I am relatively new to Hotwire but I recently got great deals for both Boston and Orlando. Far less than the going rate, especially for Boston.

betterbidding is an indispensible site for using either travel company. It takes the mystery out of the bidding process.

  4. I've got the same issue - 4 of us in the one room too. I've got different dates than you & I've been looking at Hotwire too. There's a resort listed there but I'm afraid it's the El San Juan. How did you know it's Inter on Hotwire? What makes they're listing different from the El San Juan?

I am not 100% sure but based on what I've seen for Hotwire on betterbidding.com, I am at least 95%.

  5. This is a great thread and it leads me toa question or two. First off I have seen some great successes bidding through PL for the Intercontinental. Are all of these cases for two people. That's the big drawback that I can tell from using Priceline. I have 4 people total and I want to do a precruise stay in Jan 2009. I can get the Inter. for about $186 before taxes using Hotwire and I know up front that I am requesting for 4 people. I'd love to get it down a few more dollars using Priceline but I need to be sure that I get a room big enough for 4 people. Help!!

  6. Now this is a GREAT thread!!!

I repented and no longer smuggle booze. I now only take aged carbohydrate beverages. I do make sure they are packed well, to protect from leakage however. It is always wise to be safe.

However, regarding a blender. If I were to take one on, I would STRONGLY suspect the Bullet works great... using the softserve ice cream for making my own virgin mudslide smoothie.

Not that I would ever do such, but coffee liquor and vodka pre-ordered through the appropriate channels mixed with milk from room service works well. (Yes always give a cash tip to room service) Since you will have the pre-ordered through the appropriate channels vodka, take along some spicy V8, it makes a good Bloody Mary.

Again, with the pre-ordered through the appropriate channels vodka, keeping a water bottle of it around to top off DOD’s which tend to be weak is never a bad idea.

Of course, tequila that is pre-ordered through the appropriate channels is also nice to have around, I do enjoy a shot or two.

I thought the same thing, that's why I had to revive it once I saw it!

I don't know the question but the answer is rum!

  7. I had to get this string going again. This is great stuff!

and to think I thought my brother & I were the only rum runners on the ships!

I would like to add my take. I hear that Rum is the most versatile with fruit juices so that's the poison of choice.

If one were to acutally consider using some of the juices provided, one may consider the fact that morning juices differ from the ones available all day. If a person were really thirsty they might consider filling a small bottle with some extra morning juice, like for instance the Guava, to be sure they could satisfy their thirst later in the day. Rumor has it that 1/3 fruit punch with 2/3 Guava, mixed with other certain liquids makes a very refreshing and satisfying poolside beverage.
