  1. Just did this same itinerary in late August to celebrate my younger daughter's 21st birthday -- a mom and daughter trip. I have lots of RCI cruises under my belt, and 3 Carnival trips. Will not sail Carnival ever again.

This is a fabulous ship, and a super crew. I think it's also a nice intro to RCI in general. The Voyager class is now their mid-size class, so you can get in idea of what the bigger ships might look like (Freedom and Oasis classes). There's plenty to do, great restaurant venues, and the drydock changes were really nice. The ship looks great.

We loved this itinerary, and had never been to Roatan or Belize before. In Belize we did a cave-tubing trip that we booked online (don't do ship excursions anymore, much easier and cheaper to book your own), and in Roatan we joined some fellow cruisers that we met on our Meet n Mingle thread and took a cab over to Bananarama beach and did a shore snorkel. The cave-tubing trip was one of the most unique and enjoyable excursions I've ever done. We felt perfectly safe on both excursions, and while I do agree that both islands suffer from poverty, I can't really say that it's any worse than say Grenada, Dominica or St. Lucia.

Book the cruise -- you'll have a blast! We did.

We will be on this cruise the 25th of January. Who did you book the tubing adventure with? The couple we are going with is very mobile but she is afraid that there is a big hill to climb down. Did you find it would be difficult for an older person to get into the tube. Thank you for your help.

  2. We did the wine dinner in Portofino on the recent Liberty TA and loved it! The food was excellent, the wine very good and the waiter presenting each course did an excellent job! He discussed each wine and was funny & entertaining. We also did it on last year's TA which was great but I thought this year's was even better.

With all the wine included, it was a very good value!:D

    Sherri:)

I was wondering about the amount of wine served. Is it a glass of each type or do they refill the glass often. We did the Chefs Table last year and they poured as much as you could drink LOL

  3. The Mayan ruins are fantastic but not for everyone. We have been to a few of them (see my links below) and they all involve a long, tiring day. With travel time to and from the sites, lots of walking over different types of terrain, often hot, humid conditions, I would not recommend them for the elderly members of your party.

If you have time, take a look at the slide shows my wife made for her website with pictures she has taken on our cruises over the years. The links below are labeled. It might help you decide which one to see.

So far we have seen Tulum, Chitchen Itza, Uxmal, Kohunlich, and Lamanai.

    Happy cruising!

Thank you for the wonderful slide presentation. Definitely worth seeing.

  4. I called RCCL today regarding the wine package and I was told they were not offering the package on the Navigator after the 1st of the year. We are sailing in January. Not interested in spending money for a drink package since what I understand each adult in the room has to purchase it. My husband doesn't drink!

Guess I will have to purchase wine by the bottle. Just a little aggravating.

  5. We've been on the Fair Wind about 4 times, so obviously we love it. We've also been on her sister ship, the Hula Kai, once, but prefer the Fair Wind. The staff is very professional as well as fun, and they place a lot of emphasis on safety and environmental issues. We always try for the morning rather than afternoon trip - there's a better chance of sun in the morning, which makes visibility better and the colors spectacular.

We are really interested in this snorkel trip. Their website says you have to take a cab, it's a 25 minute trip, to their office. Is this how you got to their place? If so how much was the cab. We arrive at 8 on the ship and the snorkel trip starts at 9:30 so not much time to spare.
