  1. Question that comes to mind is what are the "free" excursions?

I am on Regatta now and the new "news" doesn't yet seem to have all the answers.

As someone said today if they are offering "walking tours of Hoonah"

(Funny example) it wouldn't be great. But of course you had to see Hoonah to understand that. 😄

So, I guess what I am saying is show me the excursions first.

    Twirling my pearls on Regatta😉

  2. As some one who spent 40 years in finance working with high net worth individuals, not all people of means are willing to spend on opulence. Most of them would not be caught dead talking about their wealth or assuming what others can and cannot afford. We have friends who can easily cruise on any line at any time for any amount of money. Sometimes they cruise Regent, Oceania or Crystal and sometimes they might be on HAL or Princess or RCCL. They never take what they can afford - they take what will meet their needs.

It's quite crass to assume that people can't afford Regent or First/Business Class Air. And it's really rude to typecast fellow passengers in that light. Some travelers have different priorities and to pigeon hole them by your standards is just wrong.

One of my best cruises ever was the lowest outside cabin on a Royal Caribbean itinerary. I had adjoining cabins with my granddaughters - then age 7 or 8. They are 18 now. It was what available and I jumped to go with the girls. They got to go to a "Foreign Country" and dress up for dinner. I got their hair braided in the Bo Derek style by a street vendor. They still talk about that cruise as if it were a highlight of their lives. To share the experience was the highlight and priority.

    Well put Cathy !!

  3. I have cancelled my reservations on Azamara, despite over 12 voyages under my belt.

I am going, instead, for the first time, on Crystal Symphony.

The pumped up prices, the pumped down standards, the unazamazing evenings have made it that they have, very sadly, priced themselves out of their price niche.

I will miss you so much but money talks and your shoreside couldnt organise a Sunday School picnic!!

After all that? Did they ever provide the single sup for you.

  4. I am on Nautica in August - my first Oceania cruise. Just wondered about free shuttles in the UK ports - Rosyth, Invergordon, Belfast, Dublin and Cobh.

    Thanks for any info.

Rosyth the port provides a shuttle to either take you to the exit of the port ( where you can grab a taxi)

or their is also a shuttle to take you to the train station ( about a 5 minute ride) $3.00 round trip for shuttle which they can charge to your shipboard account

the train into Edinburgh runs every 10 minutes or so, drops you right in center of town..easy about 6 pounds round trip for 2

from the train exit you can catch hoho buses or just walk around shops

  5. Barcelona, August 2011 Marina docked at Terminal C. Shuttle to World Trade Center where HOHO buses were available, or short walk to La Rambla (southern end, near statue of Columbus). Every 30 minutes.

At the ship terminal there is a bus that on the front says CRUISER

it costs about 3Eu round trip from hip to Colombus statue at bottom of LAs Ramblas..:D it is provided by the port

  6. They do not have it...only a few tables and roulette..

no craps either... FYI.... a sister ship w/ Celebrity-Azamara took out the sitting area near the entry to Martinis bar ands they put in a texas hold em  table..

  7. Once the ship bus drops you off in Paris at the "meeting" place.. you can easily wander on your own.

If it is a drop off in front of any "famous monument" usually Tour Eiffle ( Eiffle Tower)..you can easily get on the red or yellow Hop on Hop off double decker tourist bus which costs something like 22 EU for 2 day pass ( not sure what 1 day cost is) but you buy it right on the bus . It travels around making stops at all the "attractions" so in an hour or so if you stay on it you will be back to the original starting point. You can get off to visit any stop they make and then get on the next bus that comes around ( making sure is the same color you started on is all you need to worry about).

You can also take the Bateau Mouche ( the boat ride) on the Seine which also is a great see it all tour which just goes in a big circle from another perspective.

You could take the metro to Montmarte, but unless yuou have done this before I don't think I would suggest you try to make your way around that way in such a short time. While it is easy, it is also confusing if you have not done their metros before.

You could grab a taxi though. Montmarte is a wonderful place to see.

    or..

You can walk up and down the Champs E'llysees and have a lunch at a sidewalk cafe and people watch and just enjoy being in one of the most

    beautiful cities.
