  1. We took Iceland Air in July round trip BWI to KEP Saga class.

the service was excellent and the food not bad. While the seats are not lie flat they were wide and reclined adequately. Lots of videos and good WiFi. The flight is only 5.5 hours.

Many of  our friends on our cruise also flew Saga Class and we’re fine with the short flight.

Have a great time…sailing on sb next year and we have 6 ports in Iceland, 5 new to us and 3 smaller BI ports also new to us.  Will be on sb in a couple of weeks for 14 glorious days in Alaska…life is good and choice is good too! 😄

    looking forward to following along.

Hi Nancy!  John say hello to you and Larry too.  Met Laraine and Bob at our hotel. Nice folks.

  3. Last night @10:20pm trying to leave port.  Was so frightening.  Spent the night docked in Reykjavik. Early this AM Captain announced that we should be leaving port around noon. Just a little while ago Captain announced we had some hull damage and will be kept updated.  Yikes!

Video of last nights attempted departure!

As to beds, they haven't said that they are replacing all mattresses, have they? We are to expect new sheets and towels, or was I dreaming on that?

    Patty

Hi Patty!  On our last Symphony cruise Dec 2021 the towels were pathetic. Frayed, small holes  and so rough!  We were in PHS and so disappointed.  Sure hope towels are new and upgraded. If I remember from 20+ years ago they were Frette?

As a Crystal refugee (who is not going back), had it not been for Crystal's demise, we would not have found Silversea.  We love it.  Our favorite of all the luxury lines.  We are boarding Moon for the 3rd time this July (3 weeks in Iceland) and have 4 more SS cruises booked after that. I think it's better than Regent or Seabourn (but I will sail those lines based on itinerary).  I found enrichment and entertainment on par with Crystal.  Every cruise is different.

Bitob… my husband and I are on 7/14 Moon R/T Reykjavik. Will you be onboard then?  Would love to meet you!  Enjoy your posts.   Pat &John

Someone reported Marina hit a sand bar this morning and the engines shut down for 90-120 minutes.  Did you notice anything?

Yep!  Hit a sand bar. Electricity off for 7 minutes. Water off. Then water back on after and brown water came out for a while. All seems good now. Captain claims no damage.

  7. Booked the 8 required shore excursions for our cruise leaving tomorrow.

O canceled one tour and there are none of interest for us for other tours/ports.

Already received a credit card refund

Will 0 now recharge our credit card the 25% discount from original bookings on the 7 remaining tour bookings?

We fulfilled our obligation for the discount. Therefore I assume no addition charge to remaining tours since O canceled. I did look at disclaimers on our confirmed shore excursions and it does not have any info regarding their canceling.

    Thanks!

We also will be on the Marina Dec. 18-Jan. 8 segment.  I would be happy to bring the name tags and pens that we used last fall when I organized a meet and greet on the Regent Splendor.  If someone contacts Oceania ahead of time they will find a place, a time, and some munchies, so that you can announce the event.

    Norma

Thanks Norma.  Will coordinate with you soon!  Appreciate.

  9. I would like to coordinate a Meet & Mingle for onboard our December 18, 2022 cruise on the Marina.  We have Roll Call pages for the 51 day/segments and just the Amazon (1st segment).

Does anyone have insight you would share with me on the best way to handle.  Prior to Covid, Cruise Critic had the Meet & Mingle sign up but that option is still suspended.

    Many thanks.

  10. We may be booking this cabin for an upcoming cruise on Silver Moon (30+ days sailing).

The cabin is the last cabin midship on deck 8.

What noise (if any) will there be as it appears the cabin is located next to a hallway (or other open area??).  Is this a convenient location?

    Please share your comments.

    Thank you!

I am guessing you mean Marina

You asked if the beds separate

The beds are larger twins  & maybe not quite the same as a USA King   size but close

    They are roomy & comfortable

The top suites have King beds that do not separate  (from what others report)

Yes, Marina Penthouse beds. Thank you!
