  1. I have two FCC for 2100 each! Due to personal health issues the chances of being able to cruise in 2021 are slim to none. Of course no refunds are available.  Is it feasible to sale them? I would discount.

I am booked for a May cruise. Booked June , final payment made, when prices dropped I notified my TA and within 10 minutes was upgraded from balcony to mini-suite. No problems at all.

And I just today received additional 340 OBC.  So that's an upgrade from Sailaway Balcony to Assigned Mini Suite and 340 dollars OBC and I booked 11 months  ago. I don't understand the problems people are having with early bookings...

Interesting.  I'm ok with the 25% of the price reduction after final b/c it's more than other cruiselines do.............. but, don't most cruiselines let you upgrade if a better cabin is available at same or less than you paid?  Or the ability to upgrade if the difference small and you pay the difference?

The only answer to this is last minute booking.  Cruiselines are gonna need to offer a little incentive to booking early, like at least the ability to upgrade.

  4. I don't necessarily agree. I booked 11 months ago. When I saw a big drop in price I went into "chat" and within 10 minutes was offered an upgrade from balcony to mini suite and this was after final payment.  No it isn't a new price match but it was a pretty fair compensation. I don't expect when buy a large ticket item and months later they are on sale, to go in and get the difference in cash...

So I usually book through my TA which is why I never have received one of these offers before, but this one coming up actually booked on the last cruise then carried it over.

They are both balcony's, near the rear.  Nothing great, 10th floor, so on. One room has 3 the other 4.  I know what the NCL site says, I am looking for that practical, I did it and here's what happened type of help.

The Mini-suite balcony upgrade starts at $25pp

The Spa balcony upgrade starts at $75pp.

The Spa Mini-suite balcony starts at $100pp.

The Haven Forward facing penthouse at $500.

Ok, no doubt, would jump on the Haven, with just me and the wife, but I hear like a balcony, once you go Haven, you never go less....LOL...So thats basically out for 4 people or 3 people. This cruise is the final family vacation before graduations, life's and such, so makes is a little complicated.  I figure the Mini-suit at another $75-100 is a no brainier.

However, I seem to have lost any previous posts talking about this stuff...lol...So...

What are the odds of winning at the lowest bid?

If one room wins and the other doesn't, do I have to take the upgrade?  (I remember this one is yes, I think)

Is the Spa balcony that much better than the mini-suite balcony?

I am of course going to give it a go, no harm no fowl, only because of the number of people involved, the price goes up and the kids have already paid their portion, so the cost would be a gift from me, and for me...:)

Thanks for any help, I need to go search again for those threads...I seem to think there was a FAQ on it somewhere.

Check the current prices on your cruise. I am sailing May 3, prices dropped this weekend. I was upgraded from Sail Away Balcony to Mini Suite Balcony as a comp.

  6. Well, I feel pretty lucky. Booked my May cruise last June. Made final payment in December. The price dropped over the weekend by a little more than $1000 (this is on two people). I went into travel agent yesterday and was upgraded from Sail away Balcony to Assigned Balcony Mini Suite. I'm pretty happy with that. Nice location also.

  7. I have been out of cruising for a few years and will be cruising Europe in the Spring with NCL.  This is our first with NCL. Can we get a bar set up in our cabin? I have done this in the past and we really enjoyed it. I can only find wine by the bottle for the cabins not liquor. I really appreciate your help.
