  1. I love our casino offers 🙂 Did a balcony on the mardi gras this past January and just paid taxes, and were doing a quick 4 night on the paradise this week, just paid taxes and getting a 250$ free slot pay that more than covers the taxes, plus free drinks in the casino. I would have gambled that anyways so definitely a win!

  2. Im a bit late, but thank you for the thread! We're going on the paradise here in 3 weeks and with zero extra dining options we're a little scared- out last cruise was the Mardi Gras in January and we had too many options!

I tend to enjoy the Indian vegetarian, the soft serve ice cream, and usually some 2am pizza 🙂

MDR wise I love creme brulee night, their mashed potatoes, Caesar salad, and the strawberry soup I've been loving for 20+ years.

  3. They allow a 5 day window but require PCR? Crazy. You’d think a 1 day window and a rapid would be far more accurate. Orlando has a few options for same day PCR testing, we’re Orlando locals. Most convenient would definitely be the airport, and most others I’ve seen are in that price range elsewhere, and there’s Walgreens and cvs sites down the street from the airport. Would they allow one of the Walgreens NAAT tests that Carnival allows? Florida Walgreens have a bunch of locations and test availability if you book a week in advanced. I’ve had luck with CVS getting my PCR back to me the following day but not sure what it may be like now with this surge and the holiday season.

  4. Got a great deal on the 6 day Mardi Gras Jan 2 sailing for me and my boyfriend right before thanksgiving! 200+tax for a midship balcony on the hump, free drinks in the casino, can’t wait! We’re lucky to live in Orlando to make sailing out of Port Canaveral super easy. Reading through these posts it didn’t even occur to me to check offers for Alaska or Europe cruises. Adding that to the to-do list! We did a 12 day med cruise on Carnival maybe 15 years ago or so when the Liberty first started sailing, and it was wonderful!

  5. On one cruise we literally just could not wake up til about 9am, and we got lucky and our room steward just never bothered us all morning. We finally got off at 9:30 after he did have to bother us and we were told there was only one more party on board after us. So if you want to be last off: stay up til 5am drunk off your ass the night before and sleep through every announcement.

  6. Frankly the MDR experience is a big reason why we cruise DCL, however on our most recent TA with them, we had the most god awful table mates along with rough seas, so we decided to skip the MDR most nights. We ate upstairs, the buffet turns into a casual no-frills table service restaurant. Or we would go grab some thing by the pool, the grill restaurant was usually open til about 10pm.

  7. We were able to go to GSC last Friday while on the Epic and couldn't have asked for a better day. However, so many who worked the island (lifeguards, servers etc.) told us how we lucked out big time. They said it was the first day in over 2 weeks with good weather. They told us they were having such issues with the wind.

We have another cruise booked that stops at GSC and HOPE we have another gorgeous day. That's the main reason we picked that itinerary! Fingers crossed!

Yikes! Will be there next Friday on the Epic so hopefully she is a good luck charm and we make it!!

  8. My favorite cruise ever is when the victory and valor were running this route years ago, we did the same exact cruise 2 years in a row for spring break we loved it so much!! Our favorite island was Dominica, we visited these hot springs up in the hills and it was fabulous!!

  9. Even in Norwegian did build a pier, Disney has one at their island Castaway Cay, and while docking is more likely with it, there are still several cases where the weather is too rough and they’re unable to dock, or too rough for the local vendors to make it over for the excursions on the island etc. It solves some problems, but not all. It might just cost too much compared to the problems it would solve.

  10. One of the NCL ships will be tendering. Pretty sure Carnival and Royal own the other two piers on the island, so they will not be tendering. Disney would not tender if they don't have to, my mom used to work for the cruise line and they pay a premium in a lot of ports to get the most ideal dock. 50/50 you'll be tendering in Cozumel!

  11. I was excited to see they had Ginger Beer on our Breakaway cruise earlier this month. We had the Unlimited Drinks Package, which came with our reservation. I don't drink, so it was kind of a waste on me. But I ordered a lot of Ginger Beer and was enjoying it, until the very end of the trip when one of the bartenders notified me that it was NOT on the drinks package and that he would have to charge me for it. I was so confused. He said it is a mixer, not a drink, and if I wanted it without alcohol I would have to pay extra.

Another waiter told me the same thing later that day. I checked my account, and hadn't been charged up to that point, which is good because I probably would have been quite unhappy if I'd been getting charged all week.

So I stopped ordering Ginger Beers after that, which was a bummer. The virgin daiquiris and pina coladas were fine.

Most bars here will charge you quite a bit if you want a full glass of ginger beer. The alcohol is much cheaper than the ginger beer believe it or not. And in a mule they’re just adding a couple ounces of ginger beer to top it off, not a whole glass.

  12. Haven’t done the Epic, but have done a TA from port canaveral on Disney. We rented a one way rental car (Hertz) and dropped it off at the port, then they shuttled us to the ship, and then when we flew back to Orlando we just arranged a ride home, we live about 30 min from the airport.

  13. Silly question, but I haven't been on a cruise in over 10 years so forgive my ignorance.

For those of you who were successful in your bids with previous trips, what impact does this have on all of your documentation if you are going from a non-Haven room to now a Haven room? I would imagine your boarding documents will need to be changed and updated as well as possibly luggage tags.

Since I'm arriving in Rome several days prior to my departure sailing, I'm just concerned about being in a foreign country with limited (if any) access to a computer and printer to redo my paperwork if I'm suddenly upgraded into Haven.

Any insight into the logistics of this upgrade with so little notice before sailing?

I have no idea how it affects the documents, but I frequent Rome and thankfully they still have internet cafes(with printers) easily accessible all over the city for very cheap!

  14. Your comments are completely out of line telling the OP the kids will be fine. The OP and the kids have NEVER cruised before. So your experience, while it turned out ok for you, also may have been because you and your cousin had "sailed many times before".

Out of line? Excuse you. Just offering a different perspective to OP. Absolutely no need to become rude regarding something that does not concern yourself.

People like you are a fabulous reminder why I hate this website, thanks!
