  1. I would rent a car in Skagway and take the scenic road up to Canada. Pull over where ever you see a tour bus or groups of cars on the side of the road, as there are many breath taking views. There's just one main road up, so you will discover all there is to see along the way. In my opinion, the train is nice to look at but interminably boring. Youtube it and you will see what I am talking about. Some people love it. Not me.

Just some food for thought, let's step back 4 or 5 years when there was the frequent Cruise Crud. How many times were people coming home with the terrible cough, basically having severe bronchitis. I often wonder if that was not an early version/strain of covid. Look at all the people who were infected and no one really cared. The ships were not quarantining people. Passengers self medicated. I know of many that came home from a cruise far more sick and some hospitalized after returning home. How was that any different than current time. I would venture to say the numbers of passengers with what we called Cruise Crud were far higher than those testing positive for covid now. But here's another secret your going to catch it at any place with numerous people, Las Vegas, Disney World, Sports games etc....

Like some have said I think we need to learn to live with this, it will not be going away. If some one has health issues they should not be doing this type of travel. Same as they should not have been doing that previously but still did. If one is vaccinated and boosted they have done what they need to do to protect themselves.

Completely agree with this! I was on a November transatlantic from Civitavecchia in Nov 2019 and there was a viral pneumonia outbreak on the ship with people everywhere sounding like they were dying. People reported bills from the ship’s medical center of 4-6k! They were going for daily steroid breathing treatments and other things. How interesting that it was just 8 weeks before cv officially hit the scene. I bet all those sick people would have tested positive, if there were tests available. Wash your hands, fortify your immune system and go on your way. Germs are everywhere!

There's a big difference between Hawaii and NCL.  From the Hawaii DOH site:  "The vaccination record document must be uploaded to Safe Travels and printed out prior to departure and the traveler must have a hard copy in hand when arriving in Hawaiʻi. The State of Hawai‘i will also accept vaccine records that are digitally validated by Digital Health Pass Partners"

I just cruised a few weeks ago.  NCL doesn't require the vax card be uploaded in advance and the check at the pier is a cursory one.  You don't even need the original card; a photo of it is fine.

You're correct that states maintain databases, so do a lot of the larger pharmacies/health systems.  However, NCL is not a government entity.  They would have direct access to those databases.

I assure you, I'm not a conspiracy theorist.  It takes a simple Google search to find many sites where one could purchase fake cards and there are numerous stories of people who have been caught.  But if you think that's 100%, you're deluding yourself.

People who cruise with fake cards are setting themselves up for future prosecution.

You can easily Google the first two points.  As for the third, I'm not privy to NCL's proprietary data but they'd be delusional to think that not a single passenger has not presented a fake card.

John Stossel sued Facebook. They admitted in court that their fact checkers were "merely opinions". So googling bs to turn up more bs will just give you that- more bs.

Second point, there are databases of who took the shots, what lot number and date. Just because the public may not be aware of it, I assure you, it exists. It is information required by law to be sent to each state's dep't of health database. How do you suppose airlines have caught people trying to vacation in Hawaii with fake vax cards?

Please stop repeating malarkey. Hard evidence is required for "conspiracy theories".

The upshot is that we have to develop over the counter medicines to combat Covid19 like we do with cold and flu viruses. It has to eventually just become a virus which part of life.

Would I cruise on an unvaccinated ship, yes but would I be comfortable at the moment if that ship had a no mask/social distance policy ? No, mostly because I don't want to be stuck in quarantine

We already have them. I had a friend contract Covid this week and within 24 hours of receiving her prescription, she was feeling her old self. By the next morning she was fine. It is called lvermectin. That is one that does the job anyway. There are

What does Cuomo and nursing home liability have to do with the cruise industry? It has no impact. Let’s try to keep this thread at least somewhat on track.

I can see how you would say that, but we were talking about how Florida was doing and the real estate market came up. So we veered off topic however, it is still somewhat on topic. In the past, when people were harmed due to “Covid gone wild” (Cuomo policy) there was no vaccine. Now there is a vaccine so I am trying to figure out why the vaccinated are concerned about contracting Covid. Obviously there have been breakthrough cases and nobody wants to be on a quarantined ship. It may surprise you to learn that there are  medications that can squash Covid in most people in 24 hours. I will bet you anything that the ships pharmacy will be well stocked with both of them. Case in point, I had a friend this week with Covid and had her call her Dr for an Rx. By the next morning, she was well on her way to recovery. 36 hours later, she was feeling like her old self. Incidentally, she contracted the virus from a friend who she sat and had coffee with for an hour last week.  I contend that you are at just as much risk flying in an enclosed metal tube with passengers carrying everything from Covid to chickenpox as you are cruising.

We love the Epic and have sailed on her 6 or 7 times over the years.

No. They did not complete the order of the Epic's sister ship because of a dispute with the shipyard which almost cause the cancellation of the Epic order. The order for the second ship was cancelled long before the Epic ever sailed.

No. They did not move the ship to Europe. The Epic has been NCL's main Mediterranean cruise ship for the past 10 years and spends the winter months in the Caribbean,,, every year for the past 10 years (...well I guess not 2020).

Yes. Like all of the mega ships in NCL's fleet (Epic Class and Breakaway/Breakaway Plus Class) and the Quantum and Oasis class ships for Royal, you have to reserve seats for the main theater shows and comedy shows (and you can go stand-by). There is nothing unique to the Epic here. The Epic actually has a large ultra lounge called the Bliss which is wonderful (especially after they removed the bowling alley from the rear during her 5-year dry dock).

Like almost every other cruise ship ever built, Epic provide access to a promenade deck and a lido/pool deck. There is nothing different or "more claustrophobic" here. It has ample deck space. And a very large Spice H20 adults only pool deck at the aft which hosts nighttime parties.... it is the largest adult only Spice H20 in the fleet with a small pool that turns into a stage at night with jumbotron.

Wow. So much for letting everyone have their own opinion and experience. When I sailed on the Epic in 2009 or 2010, it was the last season the ship was based out of Miami. As far as the reason for moving it and not building a sister ship, I am repeating the words of the cruise director, who may know just a LITTLE more than you. Probably not though, since you seem to know everything. 🙄🥱

I totally agree about imposing your beliefs on others. But for a "government overreach" desantis to overreach and tell a business how to run their business is ludicrous. Compare to "I should not have to bake a wedding cake for that gay couple"

State's governments are entitled to operate as they wish, via the legislature and the consent of the governed. If you offer a service to some people, it should  be made available to all. We did away   with "No xyz types allowed in our establishment" long ago because of the ugliness of discrimination.

I think if someone comes into contact with me who has what you,  insensitively refer to as the chinese virus, it is a near 100% certainty it will not result in my death or hospital visit.  Do your research and quit listening to the my pillow guy.   Get your shots.  You will be glad you did.

We can always join your "team". You can not dial it back once the horrors of this jab are made public. Glad I did? That's laughable. 😆

Also, enough with the virtue signaling, please. No one complained about the Spanish flu's moniker. It has come out now that this is engineered.

I have first hand experience with no vaccination injury.  My older neighbors, two houses down.  Both got the virus.  Both died within two days of each other.  Both spent their last two weeks in ICU with ventilator tubes stuck down their throats.  But weigh the risks for you and make you choice.  As they say, I've got mine.  And, NCL stick with it, fully vaccinated only.  If folks don't want to cruise, not forced on them, they can choose.

You may soon enough. Give it a couple years.

Simply not true.  NCL has no trouble filling the Epic in the U.S.

O.P,   I've sailed on her several times, always enjoyed pretty much everything about the ship with one big exception being the lack of good views out to sea from public areas.  NCL did a much better job on subsequent ships with the introduction of the Boardwalk areas.

I was told this by one of the cruise directors re moving to Europe. When she was based out of Miami, there were always deep discounts. I live close to the port and keep my eye on prices. Of course cutting the price will fill most any ship. Of course, I could be wrong but I am going on the word of the CD. If I had a choice, I'd chose the Breakaway or Jewel class. Personal preference.

Exactly what does that have to do with vaccinations?

USSC has ruled that vaccinations can be mandated.

Do you get  your children vaccinated?

I have experience with vaccine injury. I'm here to tell you firsthand, when it happens, the only one who picks up the pieces and lives with the side effects long after the jab is given is you. Not your doctor, not the CDC. Just you. Imposing your beliefs and choices on others is not welcome in a free society. USSC? Do you mean SCOTUS?

According to the CDC over 170 million have received at least one dose and over 137 million are fully protected.  Ten thousand cases out of 137 Million.  That's one case for every 13,700 vaccinations.  The easiest, quickest, way to avoid living in fear is to get the vaccine.

That's your opinion. This is a grand experiment, in my opinion. We already have a robust database showing many deaths  and injuries  post vax. Since the mRNA replicates In the body, there is a very valid question how long side effects/damage will be observed. Have you seen Dr Fs recently released emails? Be careful who you follow.

What port will allow a ship to enter with on-board infections?

Vaccinations are the only way to cruise without masks, etc.

I personally choose not to live in fear. There have been over 10k+ cases of Covid reported with the fully vaxxed, according to the CDCs website, and that number is likely much higher by now.  Viruses are a fact of life. Always have been and always will be.
