  1. We stayed at the Hotel Current in 2013 for our cruise to Hawaii and it was a great place to stay. Not fancy but nice and for $149 we got our room, breakfast, transportation to and from the port and parking for free. That is less than we pay when we stay in New Orleans for a 7 day cruise. We are cruising back to Hawaii next December and we will stay there again. Good luck.

  2. Mobile was our favorite cruise port because we would stay at the Renaissance Riverview Plaza hotel. It was beautiful. With their park and cruise deal you got a room for one night, could park there for the duration of the cruise and be shuttled to and from the cruise port for a very reasonable price. I don't remember what that was because it was a long time ago but it was a wonderful deal.

  3. We have been on the Montego Bay, Jamaica / Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands / Cozumel, Mexico 3 times and loved it. There are a lot of great shore excursions for Jamaica and Cayman. We are going on the Dream next month on the Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan / Belize / Cozumel, Mexico

itinerary mainly because we have been on the other so many times and we have not been on one of the large ships yet.

  4. I broke my foot about a month before one of our cruises and contacted the Special Needs department at carnival. There was someone waiting when we got to the port. He pushed me all the way through the boarding process and it took us about 30 minutes total to be on the ship and eating lunch. Don't worry about what other people think, use a wheelchair and you will enjoy your vacation that much more.

  5. We cruised on the Miracle in December from Long Beach to Hawaii on a 15 day cruise and I scanned the funtimes and the daily schedule that you tear off. I have never uploaded anything to this site before so we will see what happens. It won't let me upload my scanned copy of all of the funtimes but so far it looks like the schedules are uploaded. It was a wonderful cruise! Hawaii was gorgeous and the crew was so friendly.

  6. My favorite Carnival memory was last year when we were on the Conquest. It was my husband's 65th birthday so as a surprise, I sent the Cruise Director a picture of my DH and a note to please show the picture and tell everyone to wish him happy birthday on the day of his birthday which was 3 days into the cruise. Gary showed the picture on the first day and read the note for the first time on the air. When he got to the part about waiting for his birthday he said oops then kept apologizing. I didn't have a problem with it. He then said it would be David's birthday for the whole cruise and showed his picture every sea day. People were telling him happy birthday and Gary sent us little gifts every day. It was awesome. My DH said it was his favorite birthday and cruise. :D

  7. We booked our December 7th cruise 6 months ago and were waitlisted for Early Dining. This will be our 7th cruise and our first time to be waitlisted. I am glad to hear the odds of at least getting Late dining are good. We really don't want YTD. We were told they would let us know by email 1 week before the cruise.

  8. Gpo have a good time. I did and was in a wheel chair. They had no HC rooms available, the ship is very friendly to us. Tell them when you board. lBefore you go call special needs They will have a seat you can use in the shower. You can buy a leg cover made of plastic or just stick you leg out. The cruise lifted my spirtits go go go

I broke my foot about 3 weeks before one of our cruises and contacted the Special needs desk before we left. They were great. They had a wheelchair waiting when we got to the port and the carnival employee wheeled me through the whole check in process. We were on the ship eating lunch in about 40 minutes. I used the crutches most of the time. They wheeled me through the debarkation process too. They really took great care of me. I didn't get to go to either of the 2 ports our 5 day cruise had, but we still had a great time.

  9. My DH and I are both longtime friends of Bill W. and have been on 6 cruises with Carnival. There were meetings on all of them and they had them every day. Sometimes other people show up and sometimes they dont, but we always go to the first couple of meetings and if no one shows up we leave. I started posting a couple of months before each cruise that we are friends of Bill W and will be at the first scheduled meeting. It didn't seem to make a difference on our last cruise, but our next cruise will be a 15 day cruise to Hawaii and I noticed that almost 400 people looked at the post. So who knows? On one ship the Funtimes listed the meeting as being in the piano bar. I just assumed it would be closed so when I saw 3 people in there I walked up to someone and asked if they were there for the AA meeting and he looked at me like I had 3 heads and said no. I just left and laughed about it. The next day the meeting was in the library. We always have fun on our cruises and don't feel at all left out about not drinking. I would have no problem asking for a more private meeting place if necessary and have asked other people to leave the library when it was time for the scheduled meeting.

  10. I mail postcards to my grandchildren every time we cruise. On our last cruise I bought the postcards in Key West, talked about Freeport, and mailed them in Nassau. It doesn't matter when they get them, just that they get them and know we were thinking about them.
