  1. I have cruised on the Conquest 4 times and have another one booked. I really like the size of the ship and the lay out. The Magic was great, but sooooo big. The Ecstasy was smaller and we really felt the motion of the ocean. When they move the Conquest further from me, I will most lkely have to find another favorite, but for now, I do enjoy the Conquest. Like a fellow cruiser once said, when I step onto the Conquest, it's like Dorothy stepping into OZ! I click my heels and I feel at home. :D

  2. When I took this cruise in Feb. the water was very cold. We rented wetsuits to snorkel and most people still could not stand the water temperature. The Bahamas and Freeport are actually farther north than Key West. Please come back and let us know what you found. We are going back in September.

  3. Our porthole on the Magic was a little bit larger than my daughters cove balcony room. We had two twin beds and a couch. It was plenty large. Our portholes opened to the side. It was a great deal! I will try to book one again.

  4. By pretty deep water do you mean over your head water depth where you are treading water the whole time?

You have on a life jacket the entire time. It is required, so it does not matter how deep it is. You stand on a ledge at the edge of the pool while waiting your turn. Very easy.

I am booked for the Royal Dolphin Swim and am curious about the biodegradable sunscreen policy. Does anyone have any experience with any of these sunscreens? Are they effective? I understand they are sold at the park, but is there anywhere else they can be bought other than online?

I use Blue Lizzard. I get it at CVS pharmacy. Works well.

Sorry they are so large, I am a novice. LOL

  5. I just returned from my Jan 1 cruise on the Magic. I booked thru Cozumel Tours and used the ecommerce as the name of the ship while booking. I even got the 20% discount for booking thru paypal.

Once I arrived at Dolphin Discovery, no one cared how I got there. There are three places to sign in, the last one being the actual sign in for the Dolphin swim. You have to put your name and what ship you came on. I put Carnival Magic, and there were no questions asked.

You ARE allowed to take your camera as long as it is waterproof. I asked and they said sure as long as it is waterproof. You will need to be with someone that you can pass your camera too when it is your turn, but it is allowed. No one that has not paid is allowed to go that far out on the pier to take pictures, but the actual participants are allowed.

We did the Royal Dolphin Swim and it was great!!!

  6. I have been on six cruises. All w/o my DH. I cruise with girl friends. My next cruise is in 20 days, w/o DH, but with my kids, grandkids and friends. He is "thinking" about going next fall. He is a stay at home body and does not really like water. My hope is that the kids will come back and tell him how great it was, and he will want to go.

I always have a blast!!! You do not have to do everything with your spouse. JMHO

Everyone is different. If he is OK with it, go and have fun.

  7. Hey, look: I multiple-quoted myself.

It seems that although some have gotten it, some others on here did not seem to get that I have been joking in my above posts. It takes all the fun out of it to point it out; but I'd rather do that than have a lot of people thinking I'm a bigger idiot than I actually am.

    Thank you.

    That is all.

I thought is was funny!!! I love a good sense of humor on these boards!! You da man!!! Thanks, that is all!!! :D

  8. I usually just paint mine a bright frosted orange. Sorry, no pics. However, I would like to ask all of you who get pedicures ..... how do you keep them so nice during the cruise? I have this habit of when I am in sand/at beaches, my toes get all scruffed up, so I have to re-apply my toenail polish. How do you do this if you have a pedicure? I am afraid that if I got a pedicure, in one day there would be nail polish missing and my feet would look worse than before.

A really good top coat goes a long way. I have also found that the glitter polishes last much longer than anything. I buy glitter polish at Walgreens for $1.50 and put it on top of my color then a clear top coat. Even when I get a pedi, they have a hard time getting that off. It lasts and lasts and lasts. Good luck!

  9. I second going before college starts or on winter break. I am taking my son the first week of January. There is no way he could miss a week of college and catch up. Same for my DD who graduated two years ago.

Colleges have a lot more to cover now and a lot of degree plans are five years that students are trying to cover in four. Freshman year is a big enough adjustment w/o adding the additional stress of trying to play catch up.

Is DD going to community college or a university? If community college, maybe. If a major university, I would say no way. JMHO

  10. When you are ready to board, go to the handicapped line and they will let you and one other passenger board without standing in line. It will help not to have to stand in the line. A friend had to do this on the last cruise. Good luck and take it easy.

  11. Both times I went to Grand Cayman we had no problem.

First time we just went to 0 and got in line with everyone else.

Second time, they announced the nite before to meet on the main deck to get a ticket if you had not booked thru Carnival. We went down to get a ticket and they said just go to 0 and get in line, you don't need a ticket.

Either way you should be fine. Your excursion will wait for you.

Don't worry about it, just enjoy Grand Cayman. It is my favorite port to date.

  12. Hi Jetskier - did you ever use the parking lot at the cruise port? I am debating where to park in April. I had heard if you use that parking lot the driver can drop off the passengers and guests at the cruise line and then park the car. That seems a little less cumbersome than parking 5 miles off-site? My father-in-law will coming with us and he doesn't get around too good (81 years old  ). I am looking for the most convenient option for all 7 of us.

Also, do you know if the shuttle from the nocruiseshipparking.com parking lot runs early in the day. We are hoping to get to the cruise by 10:30 am or so?

    Luey,

You can always consider going to the terminal and dropping off your passengers and even luggage and then drive to the parking lot and have them bring you back to the terminal. We have done this several times in Galveston and if it is an option, we will do it in New Orleans.

Thanks everyone for the great info!
