  1. We are thinking about doing a 15 day cruise out LA or San Francisco to Hawaii...if I recall, it makes stops at 4 islands. I am looking for thoughts from anyone who has done this similar cruise. Did you enjoy the stops and all the sea days? We haven't cruised on Princess in awhile but do have done some 7 day and a 10 day cruise on the line. This past year we cruised on another cruise line out of New York City (convenient train ride for us) but didn't enjoy it as much as our cruises on Princess. Please feel free to share your likes and dislikes about this cruise. Thanks.

  2. We will go in and out of Grand Central for our cruise on NCL. It's been awhile since I had to take a cab anywhere from Grand Central. Is there a certain area outside of Grand Central that it's easier to get a cab from? At the end of the cruise, we want to walk off the ship as early as possible. Is there a taxi stand at the cruise ship terminal or is it a "free for all" with everyone trying for the same cab? Approximately how far from Grand Central is the Cruise Ship Terminal? Thanks.

  3. I have a few questions about the iConcierge app. I apologize if these questions have been asked before; the site will not let me do a search.

In reading some of the information on the NCL site, I believe we can use the app to make reservations, get daily information, and talk to other people we are traveling with. Do we have to be connected to the ships wifi in order for this app to work? We will have the "Internet Plan" that we booked as one of our perks, but I am not sure I want to use all my "internet time" using their app. For those of you who have used the app, did you find it worthwhile to have or would you have been fine without it? Any other information on the app that we should know about? Thanks so much.

  4. Someone in our group is celebrating a Birthday on our upcoming cruise. I know you can purchase a "Birthday Package" from NCL that also includes a cake. However, the persons family would like to do the decorating themselves with things they have purchased elsewhere (balloons, streamers and a simple banner). Can tape be used ( know some places don't allow tape) to hang decorations? If not, does anyone have suggestions on how they can hang some decorations? Thanks so much.

  5. We booked our upcoming November NCL cruise in February. Our final payment isn't due until late August and we have no plans to pay it until then. We have cruised in the past and always paid the insurance with the final payment. However, as we are not getting any younger, we are wondering if there is any reason we should pay the "insurance portion" of our cruise fare earlier than the final payment is due.

  6. Just wondering about your experiences on taking the train from Connecticut to New York for your cruise. We are looking into Metro North out of Union Station in New Haven (parking at the Union Station Garage) to Grand Central or possibly Amtrak out of New London into Penn Station. Having lived in Manhattan for a few years, I know that taxis are pretty easy to get at the NYC train stations. Any idea about the approximate fares? How difficult is it to grab a taxi back to the train stations once departing the cruise ship? Thanks for any advice you may have.

  7. We will be sailing out of New York on a December cruise. I know that the weather in NY will be cold on the day we depart and return to NY. For those of you who have cruised out of NY before the holidays, how is the weather on the "sea days" before and after the Cape Canaveral and Bahamas stops? In reading reviews, some people have stated that it is too windy and cold to use the pool areas, rope courses etc. on the first full sea day heading south and the two seas heading back to NY. If the pool is closed, will deck chairs still be available? Hot tubs? Thanks.

  8. We are considering booking a late November cruise on the Breakaway out of NYC. While pricing out the cruise, I was given a choice to select a package with two "free" options. The package I am looking at is the Free Speciality Dining and Free Internet (250 minutes) option. I noticed that they will charge me a choice promo service charge. I have never cruised on NCL so what I am wondering from anyone who has used these promos is if I select the Free Speciality Dining, is it really for free at the "speciality" restaurants or are there hidden charges? Is it difficult to get a table at the speciality restaurants? What about the free internet? Anything I need to know? My apologies if this question has been asked before. Thanks.

  9. Great pictures and descriptions of the aft cabins. I am considering booking aft cabin B748 or B749 on the Baja deck of the Ruby Princess. Since these are "corner cabins". do you get a view out the aft and also the side of the balcony without having to stick your head over the edge of the balcony (meaning does the plexiglass type rail thing go around the corner)? It also appears that these two above mentioned cabins do not have anything that partially obstructs the view. Am I correct? Thanks.
