  1. I sailed on the Stella Solaris in August 1981 with my mom (I was 17).  I had the time of my life, leaving from Athens, hitting Egypt, Israel, Turkey, Mykonos, Santorini, and Rhodes.  Was just a great initiation to cruising and met some Canadian girls who dressed me up as "American Champagne" -- a can of Coke -- for the costume contest, which I won.

  2. Another option is to go to the Princess website prior to the cruise and from the Gifts and Special Services section buy casino credits for what ever amount you think you might want. I think they come in 3 denominations with the largest being $100. Buy as many as you want. Pay for them when you place the order by credit card. When you get to your cabin there will be a voucher for each casino credit. Take the voucher to the casino cashier and turn it in for its cash value. Then use the cash for what every you want. You do not have to use it to gamble or buy anything else on the ship. QUOTE]

Any idea how the credit card companies treat these "purchases?" Are they deemed cash advances, or merely purchases?

    Thanks.

  3. I'll be cruising with my 11 and 13 year old daughters on the Emerald Princess this summer and I'm getting concerned that there won't be too many similarly aged kids for them to interact with. Don't get me wrong, love my kids, but I imagine we'll all want time away. It's summertime and the Mediterranean, so I'm hoping there will be older kids on board.
