So, we called and after a lot of checking, the representative told us that our bid was accepted and that we would be notified a few days before our cruise. Today (5 days out) we got the email that our bid was accepted...

Who did you call? I didn't use a TA, booked through Casino Royale. I called them for something else recently & they were clueless about every but new bookings.

So sorry to hear about your husband's COVID diagnosis.  What an absolute bummer.

    Thanks for the info.

The C19 diagnosis is totally a bummer. This was supposed to be our first cruise post shut down. One of the main reasons we got our vaccines when we did was so we could cruise! I guess at least he got sick before we left & not on a ship.

  3. I put offers on a Grand Suite (1 bedrm), JR Suite & Crown Loft Suite. My GS & JR expired immediately, the CLS is still pending. My sailing is Sunday, Nov 12th. My husband (who I haven't been in the same state with for over a month 😔) tested positive for C19 on Friday. So, I haven't been exposed and still want to sail with our daughter. (On a side note, DH will be fine, mild symptoms but won't be able to pass the health questionnaire).

My DH & I are both Diamond + members, DD is a Diamond member. Does C&A status play into RoyalUp bids? Should I wait to take my DH off the reservation & add our DD or is there zero correlation between status and offer acceptance?

  4. How do you know what level you are ? My wife/I got an invite on our last cruise she signed up and we never heard anything.

This is from the Celebrity website...

“We are developing a web portal for you to check your tier and expect it to be live by the end of 2018. In the interim we will be happy to assist you directly from the Blue Chip Club Office at BLUECHIPCLUB@CELEBRITY.COM, or 866-461-7170 Monday thru Friday from 9am – 7pm est.”

  5. Just downloaded the app. Pretty neat. Does anyone know if it works while the phone is set to airplane mode?

Yes, it does work in airplane mode. I was on the Equinox last week. They are still working on the app, one problem is that they don’t update it. Our itinerary was changed because of a medical emergency of a guest. One port was canceled, another added, a Sea day swapped for a port day — the info on the app never changed from the original itinerary. Hopefully it will be improved before your trip. The idea is good, they do try to “sell” you on certain events. I found it convenient to be able to see the menus.

  6. How did it taste..? How does it differ from the current bottled water on board in terms of salt content, if you know?

Evian...glass or bottles, -is an extra charge if one is not on the upgraded drinks package that presently includes water...so not an option for many.

Definitely bringing my own....where I control the product,

The bottled spring water at the spa was just water.

Definitely bringing my own....where I control the product,

I didn't taste it, I don't drink filtered water when I have better options available. "Spring water" should not have anything added. Most filtered waters also do not have anything added, they must need the additives to be in the aluminum bottle.

I have had the boxed spring water at home. Nothing was added to it, and it tasted fine. IMHO.

I know people say the taste tests for water are bologna, but I am picky about water. If it has a taste, I don't like it. I live in Florida and our water tastes terrible. I will drink it after it runs through a Zero Water filter. My kids have given me Dasani, Aquafina, Zephyrhills, tap & filtered water. I can tell them which is which. Publix spring water is good too, I am fairly sure it is Zephyrills. So if you are taking water on the ship, Publix SPRING water (not drinking water) is usually a decent price and is available near the Florida ports.

  8. We are on Equinox next month. Do they still have Evian?
Yes, they still have Evian & Pellegrino. In the spa they had actual spring water in plastic bottles. On the 4th night there was a mix of aluminum bottles & plastic spring water bottles in the theater.

I don't think many people who were drinking the water with additives noticed anything was added. I did see several people walking around with their large glass bottles of Evian from their rooms.

  9. I can see why there are so many cabins available. That's still over $100 a day pp. I wouldn't consider that a great price for a standard balcony. The price isn't bad but it's nothing special.

Wouldn't make me jump on it for a last minute deal.

I am leaving the Equinox tomorrow, it is completely full for our voyage. Many schools in Florida start back August 13th, that may play a part in the availability for the 8/11 sailing.

  10. Do let us know what happens Vickie!
I received this message about an hour ago...

"Unfortunately, your offer to upgrade to a Royal Suite wasn't accepted. We're sure you'll have an unforgettable vacation in the stateroom you originally booked."

It is strange, I was perfectly happy with my room until there was a slight chance of getting the upgrade. [emoji44] I probably won't bid on an upgrade again. As others have said, I book the room I want to begin with -- or can afford anyway! -- and am happy with that.

  11. Have any on here hosted a small cocktail party in a Sky Suite? How did it work out? How did you organize it?

We were invited to one on Summit a few years ago in a Penthouse Suite, and it was wonderful. Obviously, a lot larger suite.

I have done it in a Royal Suite (for 75 CC members on a cabin crawl) & also attended a sail away for 8-10 people in an S1. Both were arranged with the help of the suite Manager (Anica) & the bulter. For one of the parties the butler wasn’t very helpful, that’s why we went to the suite manager. She ended up being a huge help for the larger party on short notice because the butler dropped the ball. Then she made sure the smaller one was flawless a few days later.

We were on the Equinox. Neither Suite was charged for the wine and champagne provided for the get togethers. The couple in the S1 had a drink package — most of the people on the ship did, that could be why weren’t charged.

One party had shrimp, cheese, crackers & fruit in addition to the beverages. The other had a meat & cheese tray, some appetizers & bite sized desserts. The butler brought glasses, plates, napkins, silverware, etc.

Some of the butlers seem to know exactly what to do, others don’t have a clue. If you get one that doesn’t have any idea of what you’re asking for & just nods his head, talk to the suite manager and he/she will be able to walk him through it.

    Enjoy your party!

  12. Forgive me if this is addressed in this thread and I missed it, but how does this work if more than 2 ppl are in a cabin? Is the pp bid only for first two or does bidding price reflect all occupants?

According to the move up offer, only the first 2 people in the cabin are charged the upgrade fee, anyone else in the cabin is at the rate originally paid.

  13. Do let us know what happens Vickie!

I will. I didn’t bid very high, so I doubt we’ll get it. If they factor in anything besides $, we might have a shot.

My 50th birthday & our anniversary are both during the 7 day cruise. Years ago we sailed on the Carnival Sensation during this same week, Carnival upgraded us (for free) to a suite that doesn’t even show on their deck plans. There were 2 of the Suites, a honeymoon couple was upgraded to the other one. The suites were very nice. It appears the era of free upgrades is over.

  14. Here is a strange one...we sail on the Eq in 3 days. I received a move up offer today. We are in a Celebrity Suite, the offer came to upgrade to a Penthouse (from $800 pp) or a Royal (from $400 pp). The email also states that they will let me know within 3 days of cruising— that is TODAY. The suites have been sold out for a while and the cruise itself is pretty full. I guess someone canceled a Suite & they are trying to get someone to upgrade to it. I put in a bid for a RS, we will see what happens.

Did Malala get married recently? I thought she was still single. Or were you referring to someone else?
