I'm still waiting for FCC!  Was supposed to have my FCC by 2/4.  Trying to book a cruise for two weeks from now, but would really appriate our FCC first.  Last week when I called they said I'd have an e-mail by this week, but nothing yet.  I'm on the phone again - two hours and counting....

I canceled our 3/28 Vision of the sea and transferred to the same itinerary in December.  Keep calling to work with a representative who will waive the $100 fee and wait for the FCC, keep the deposit and book instantly. You will pay the prevailing rate for the new cruise.

The first few calls were frustrating but in the in the end I was very satisfied with the results

  2. Sailed on Gate 1 in August! We were involved in the low water situation! The trip was fantastic even with bus rides  to Bratislava and Budapest! Food was excellent, crew was superb. Provided a wonderful diner and night cruise in Budapest to compensate for our inability to sail into Budapest. These last minute events where handled within hours of the decision to remain in Vienna and executed perfectly

    You will love your cruise

    Enjoy

  3. We just returned from a few days post cruise in Amsterdam and used Uber to get us from the ship to the B&B and then from the B&B to the airport. We waited till we were at the meeting place outside the terminal to order the Uber ride. Our wait was under 10 minutes.

Thanks! We will be on the Brilliance sailing May 15th! Anxious to see what they did in dry-dock. Will be using uber both ways for our 3 day stay after the cruise. Was uberx available or was it only uber black? Hope you enjoyed your cruise even with the stormy weather

  4. Hi! We had intended to take a taxi from the port to the tour pick up point on O'Connell Street, but since the shuttles from the port were free, taxis weren't coming to the port. We hopped on a shuttle, intending to take a taxi from the shuttle drop off (near Merrion Square), but the shuttle driver was willing to drop us near where he turned to cross the Liffey (we were stopped at a traffic light) and we walked from there (about 15-20 minutes?).

We had plenty of time to get to O'Connell Street since the tour pick up wasn't until 10:10 am and this was the second day of our overnight stop, but if we were to do it again, we might have met the tour at the 9:50 am pick up near St. Stephen's Green, which is only about 10-15 minutes from the Merrion Square shuttle stop.

So how long it will take you to get there will depend on the taxi/shuttle situation. I found it frustrating trying to plan because we didn't know, ahead of the cruise season, what the situation at the port would be, which is one reason why we planned the tour for our *second* day in Dublin. Do you have two days? If not, what time does your ship arrive?

At the end of the day, we were dropped at St. Stephen's Green at 4:30 pm, which gave us plenty of time to walk back to Merrion Square and catch the shuttle back to the ship.

The tour group was a full bus, although you're broken into smaller groups at the Newgrange site. Mary's role was one of coordinator -- she arranges everything, including the timed tickets at Newgrange -- and narrator. She talked for the entire bus trip, mostly in answer to questions that people threw at her, and ranged over the entire history of Ireland -- not just prehistory and early history but also the Battle of the Boyne, the Famine, etc. At Newgrange, you're handed over to the official Newgrange guides. And it is an amazing experience actually walking inside the site. At Tara (we did visit Tara), you're left free to wander the hill on your own -- it doesn't take long; it's a hill with mounds and trenches in the grass. Be sure to read the signage at the entrance with the diagrams and aerial photos so you know what it is you're walking over. Even though it is, really, just a hill, it is, again, an amazing experience to stand on *that* hill and look out over *that* view of Ireland.

What cruise line were you on and what time did the first shuttle start on the second morning. We are on Brilliance of the seas doing a walking tour from the Spire on day 1 and an 8:30am tour from the same area on day 2. I know there is a tram that we can use if we choose to walk to the Arena area

    Thanks

  5. We were on the Vision last June with a day stop in Dublin. The shuttle dropped us near to Trinity College, maybe a 5-10 minute walk.

Hi: Thanks for the reply! We are taking a walking tour leaving from the Spire. The walk from Trinity College will be about 1km or 15minutes. We can use that experience to determine how we approach our all day tour the next day leaving at 8am

    hi

    ; Thanks for the rply

  6. Trying to find information on the shuttle RCL arranges from the pier to town. This is an over night port. We are planning a tour leaving from downtown @ 8:00am. RCL wont' advise the start time for this shuttle or the drop off point just that it is a third party arrangement. The pier they are using is not one of the usual piers.

If anyone has been there on a RCL cruise is it easy to walk through the industrial port to seek local transportation.

The tram looks like it will work.

    Thanks for any input

  7. We are overnighting in Dublin on the Brilliance of the Seas on May 21-22,2018. Has anyone experienced the shuttle from last years Vision of the Seas visit. I am planning a private tour leaving from downtown @ 8:00am. I have read that some shuttles don't begin until 9am on the second day. If you have used a RCL shuttle where did it drop you off in Dublin. I don't know what type of transportation would be available at 7am.

    Thanks

    Dave

  8. Taxis will use their meters, but unfortunately many drivers might deny to make the ride due to the short distance or may make a detour to make a better price. Still there are some honest driver, just wait and see. Maybe try Uber?

Thanks! I hadn't thought about the problem when I booked the hotel. We were coming in early and walking form the central station. Had to change to a post cruise stay. This is a longer walk with suitcases

  9. When we overnighted in Dublin, we had a tour leaving from town planned for the 2nd day and were considering taking a taxi in. There was a designated "taxi line" at the port, but I didn't see any taxis, and when I asked the people at the front of the line, they said that they'd been waiting 45 minutes and had seen barely a handful. We hopped the ship's free shuttle into town instead and convinced the driver to drop us within walking distance of our tour meet-up point -- but taxis were also available in town.

So I would guess that if your ship offers a free shuttle, there may not be many taxis coming by the port.

Thanks: I don't believe that Royal Caribbean supplies free transportation into town! They did say that they had arranged transportation by a third party but without details. Will check back with Royal as our May cruise approaches

  10. We are sailing on RCL Brilliance of the Sea in May! They have indicated we will tender to the Rosyth Terminal. I checked and see that Rosyth isn't a tender port. Anyway has anyone traveled to Edinburgh from this terminal? What is the approximate timing? Any complications?

Had hoped that we would tender to Newhaven!

    Thanks

    Dave

  11. We will be arriving on RCL Brilliance of the seas on May 17,2018 They claim we will be tendering to Rosyth instead of Leiith. This is an inconvenience in getting to Edinburgh.

Is there transportation via shuttle busses from Rosyth into Edinburgh. The cruise line says there should be but they are not involved as they are third party participants. I also read that it is possible to dock in Rosyth. As the only ship in port that day, I am suprised that they don't use Newhaven.

    Thanks

    Dave
