  1. Hello,

I know Island Wings is highly recommended on this board. I was wondering if anyone had experience with any of the other flight companies.

Have you come across any that don't have a weight supplement?

Some of the tours seem to let people stand out on the pontoons rather than docking/pulling up to shore. Standing on the pontoon seems more interesting to me. Is it one person at a time? So the rest of the people are in the plane waiting?

Any experience you can share would be great.

    Thanks,

    Jim

  2. Hi everyone,

June 2019 will be my 1st time in Alaska.  Is there more than one place to go dog sledding on Mendenhall Glacier? Does each tour operator have their own camp and helicopter vendor?

I'm wondering if there is a difference in quality booking direct vs through the ship like in the Caribbean. Are there multiple private operators?

    Thanks,

    Jim

  3. Hello,

Very random question about the Fantasy & Spirit Class ship designs. What is on these decks that make the portholes/windows not straight (see attached)? I don't imagine the actual floor you walk on changes slope like that. I've never sailed on either class, but the design always bothers the OCD Engineer in me when I see them in Port.

    Thanks,

    Jim

  4. Hello,

I was curious to see if anyone had experience with either of these companies/tours.

They both seem to have good reviews on Yelp & Trip Adviser. I'm a little concerned about their cancellation polices. They don't seem to have allowances for if the Ship misses the port, etc. like other excursion companies. We are only in port for 1 afternoon. I could always just try walking in instead of booking in advance.

    Thanks,

    Jim

  5. We were in 2309 on Magic. We had the same issue for about 2.5 days (off and on) on our 8 day cruise. We also reported it to guest services, and they gave a similar explanation about a vent causing that smell. They gave us a bottle of wine and OBC. Their service was excellent and they were very apologetic.

Considering the low price we paid ($95 pppd, incl taxes), I think it was still a good deal. If we had paid more (like for a regular balcony), it would have been a different story. I enjoyed the balcony every chance I got when it was "fresh", and just relocated to Ocean Plaza on the smelly days.

This makes me nervous. I'm in 2315 in September -picked it because it didn't have a lifeboat above. If anyone has any updates on this cabin that would be great.

    Thanks,

    Jim

  6. Hello,

Does anyone have experience with the "old" internet plans? The Carnival FAQ says "Upgrading a pre-selected pricing option is not permitted and plans are subject to change."

    Pricing

    480 minutes for $159 USD

    240 minutes for $89 USD

    120 minutes for $59 USD

    45 minutes for $29 USD

Pay As You Go - $0.75 USD per minute

Does that mean if after I use 45 minutes for $29, I can't buy the same package again? (Yes, I realize I could get 120 minutes for the same price off the bat but I'm going to try and stay disconnected from email for the most part). Also is printing free under the "old" plan. The FAQ only mentions it under the "New" plan.

    Thanks,

    Jim
