  1. We were also onboard this cruise and it was WONDERFUL!!  Everyone we encountered was fabulous. We dined in Concerto every night and had first rate service.  We booked a cabana at The Retreat Pool and enjoyed having the greatest server, Diana, spoil us!  Crooners was great!  Christmas Eve carols in the atrium and the Christmas Eve service in Princess Theater were both lovely.  The four of us had a ball!

  2. My now 28 year old daughter has been cruising with us on Princess, and Princess only, since 2002. Twenty+ cruises. She actually enjoys being with us. Join another family at dinner. The head waiter can seat you with a family with children of similar ages. We have had the best time meeting other families over the years. And staff. If they are 18 go to the disco at night. It’s fun!

  3. No, Pia. I'm not trying to make you cry. I'm just hoping you can remember all of the truly wonderful times because that's what is important. I woke up last Thursday and started to get out of bed when the most incredible pain gripped my chest. My wife was lying asleep and unknowing right by me. As it turned out it was a pulmonary embolism - a blood clot that had hit my lung. The pain was breathtaking - literally. As I was silently (not by choice but I was suddenly incapable of making a sound) thinking I might die right there and then I was oddly clear in my head and my main worry wasn't for myself. I was suddenly very worried for my wife. I have never met you (as you know) but have followed you for quite some time here on CC. From what I have read I feel sure that Mike was - as I was for my wife - likely more concerned for you than for himself. Remember the good times. Remember the laughter. Heck, even remember the times you wanted to sock him in the head. (There probably were such times.) Remember and rejoice.

Yes, I know it's "easy to say and hard to do" but - in that eons long (probably 30 seconds) I had last week when my chest was being crushed and I couldn't make a sound and my wife was sleeping peacefully by my side - I know I was more concerned with her future happiness than my (as I thought) imminent departure. I sincerely hope I haven't over stepped the boundaries of what is acceptable or what I should have said. If I have then I sincerely apologize but, from what I have gathered from your many past postings, it seems to me that you and Mike had many (Many!) wonderful times together and I hope you will always be able to focus on those times despite the devastating loss you have suffered. I don't know you and I didn't know Mike but I am betting that is what he would want as well. We will actually meet on an upcoming cruise and if you feel like walking up to me and slapping the crap out of me I promise I won't protest. I truly wish you all the best.

I am literally crying after reading this post. And now worrying about my husband’s health. Cause I want MANY more years of cruising together!

  4. Your post/response is one of the reasons I still haven't booked - our last two cruises were on the Regal and we've never been on the CB. I can't say that the staff on the Regal were overly friendly and certainly no-one went above and beyond except for the bartenders in the Elite Platinum lounge.

I should have been more clear. I meant the staff on the Caribbean Princess were all outstanding. I’ve often heard it starts with the Captain and works it’s way down. Just disembarked the Caribbean today and could not have been happier. We literally are going to rebook the Caribbean Princess before most of the staff leave in February just so we sail with them again. They truly were that wonderful.

  5. I'm glad that your one of the people that are enjoying the CB.

I've been reading some disconcerting posts lately about that ship and was beginning to have some concerns.

How many Princess cruises on other ships do you have to compare it to?

I'm only asking because of the number of positive posts come from people who have only been 1 or 2 other Princess ships & everything seem great to those people.

I’ve done 23 cruises with Princess. Have been on several different ships, including Royal several times. The entire staff just seemed so happy on this ship. They couldn’t do enough to help us. Waitstaff, bartenders, room steward, room service. Everything was outstanding.

  6. I totally agree with sailing Royal class ships as long as you don't mind the larger ship atmosphere.

They certainly have much better food & selections as well as all the same shows as the smaller ships without all the problems that the older ships have... like plumbing, water, AC, rust, etc.

I am currently on The Caribbean Princess and don’t think I’ve ever been this happy. We have stayed at the back pool most of the days onboard. We have had Exceptional waiters in the dining room on Sixth floor (Gerald and Alvin from the Philippines). Jackie, the bartender at Crooners is wonderful. Love the pianist there too. Onboard production shows are excellent. Everyone just seems genuinely happy on this ship. We are Caribe aft balcony. A/C is great. Beds are comfortable. On demand TV and free internet are awesome. Cannot say enough great things about The Caribbean. I too was hesitant and worried I’d miss The Royal but all’s good/Great here!

  7. Thank you for wishing the nice surprise but sadly that’s not what we got! I had booked a high deck forward and we were just assigned Dolphin deck aft. Exact same type of cabin. So no upgrade to even the deluxe balcony. Last Feb when we sailed The Royal we were in a mini suite. So will have to get used to considerably less space.
