    Gibraltar without the apes?

Assuming you will be up there  in a vehicle of some description, the person with the fear of apes could simply stay inside the vehicle for the short duration of that stop, and if she does not want to see them even from the inside of the vehicle, could cover eyes with a scarf or some other item.

Could you be referring to Casemates Square for eating/shopping?

Easiest way to find the location would be to google the "glass factory and shop" as results should give you an address.

Perfect answer to the question 🙋

I agree with your friend. These “apes” can get aggressive. She should stay on the ship and enjoy the sea views. Gibraltar is underwhelming and a waste of money.

They are not apes, they are Monkeys.(Barbary Macaques)

They are not aggressive animals, but can be driven to be aggressive by idiotic tourists who touch them, get too close and carry food in rucksacks and plastic bags.

Nobody charges you to enter Gibraltar so can't understand what you wasted your money on. Your adventurous nature probably took you on tour of Matalan, Marks and Spencer, Morrisons and some pharmacy  (not that you actually purchased anything)

However you think that the couple of Cartons of B+H or Superkings and that bottle of cheap whisky you bought was money really well spent.

Rather than staying on the ship, some should be staying at home.

  3. for the sake of clarity

visiting st michaels cave on a ship or taxi tour does not involve any crawling, narrow passage or anything similar and can be done by anybody who is able to climb and descend some steps

visiting the great siege tunnels = same as st michaels cave

visting ww2 tunnels = same as previous 2

    now

visiting lower st michaels cave is something else , but I am 99% sure that this is not included in your ships excursion as this trip needs pre-booking with a military/specialised guide and would not be out on the open market

your best bet to tour Gibraltar is to take a taxivan tour from the pier ( 100% doable for all publics)

    regards and enjoy

  4. I would say that it is at least 99% certain that the white van taxis by the ship will be there for tours and will probably not be taking you to the cable car.

So i suggest you walk to the cable car or walk to market place bus terminus and take the bus from there to the cable car station. You also could just join one of the taxi tours, if you do it upon your arrival you could then walk to catalan bay to have some great food, a beer and a swim in the med.

Your kids may love you much more!!!!!

  5. there a bus stop near the port where we could catch a bus to the cable car station? We'd like to take the cable car to the top, assuming it is running the day we arrive. Since it sounds like we need to get to the cable car station as early as possible, a bus should be quicker than walking.

You need to walk or take the shuttle taxi to market place and take the bus from there.

You need to research into what ticket you will buy and if you want to visit the sites, taking into account possible waiting time and walking distance between the attractions.

  6. The most time effective and economical way to see the rock is on a taxi tour which leaves from the pier.

The standard tour includes 4 stops

Pillars of hercules / jews gate

    st michaels cave

top of the rock / ape watching

great siege tunnels or moorish castle

End of tour at cathedral square

    duration about 90 mins

all of the drivers are local and official tour guides(gib tourist board)

Taking the tour on your arrival will give you more time to explore the city and the main street.

Cost of standard tour is 22 sterling or 33 euros roughly per person.

    rgds and enjoy

  7. taxi van tours accommodate 8 persons max and are the best way to see the rock and it's attractions

in high season the driver may want to get the return on all 8 seats

the ticket for the tour is 22 pounds sterling , which is composed of 12 pounds for the driver and 10 pounds for the nature reserve ticket(including all attractions)

so if you are 6 you may able to negotiate to pay for the 6 seats that you will occupy,(I am sure you will be able to do this) , if it comes to the worst you can ask to pay the 12 pounds for the 2 extra seats (but not the nature reserve tickets)

    so your total for the tour in a taxi van should be either 6 pax x £22 = £132 or wort case scenario 6 pax x £22 + 2 pax x 12 gbp = £156 pounds

    enjoy!!!
