    Wait!! I live in Va Beach, and had NO idea the the world renowned Trips were here!! I'm always a day late and a dollar short! [emoji12] I hope you enjoyed your visit, although we didn't have the best weather.

     

    In all seriousness though, thank you so much for taking the time to write this great review! Your photos were amazing, and your stories were hilarious, insightful, and incredibly useful! I'm sorry to see this review come to an end. You really should write a book, as you have a great writing style!

     

    My mom and I sail on the Vista on Oct. 1st, and it was a pleasure getting a preview of what's to come.

    Mrs. Trip thanks you very much! There were some hills on this tour mainly here in Les Baux-de-Provence. However, many of those hills could be avoided simply by walking down a different corridor (we were on our own here so we were free to go where ever our little hearts - or feet - desired). There was a member of our group that had some mobility issues. Nothing too bad but limiting nonetheless. She did not have any problems on this tour. She did rest more often than others but there was a lot of walking on this tour too. For the most part, we were pretty free to move about as we wanted for the majority of these tour. The guide would always take us to the main area than say "you have some much time to explore, meet back here at such and such time." He was always available to answer any questions but we were tied to him or to any strict schedule or path. Which we really liked.

     

     

    Perfect!! Thank you so much for the detailed info!! My mom and I are taking this tour, and she has a heart condition. She's still very mobile but with a slower pace than before, especially with inclines. This will alleviate her concerns. [emoji4]

    Our next stop was one of the ones that I was most excited about. It was the commune of Les Baux-de-Provence. It has a spectacular position in the Alpilles mountains, set atop a rocky outcrop that is crowned with a ruined castle overlooking the plains to the south. For all you useless information junkies out there, the name "bauxite" (aluminum ore) got its name from this village after it was found there in 1821. Hey! Now you have something to dazzle all your friends and family with! It also happens to be ranked as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Okay, so that little tidbit is a bit more interesting than having bauxite named after it! Any ways, that is where we stopped at next.     VAT Tax on Vista Questions

    The £ is weak against the $. Yes it has recovered a bit, but at the time of booking it was $1.60. It's currently $1.41 ( I know that as I bought another £500 worth today!)

     

    Plus - because the dollar seemed to be getting too strong.... I went and bought £1000 at $1.36 a short while ago.

     

    Yes I know..... My crystal ball doesn't work! Lol

     

     

    Every time I think I understand the exchange I just get confused all over, lol! I guess I get confused when I see that I could have paid 757 but have to spend 1090. I feel like I'm having to pay 333 more than I should have. It's a really good thing I'm not in any type of finance career, ha!

    VAT Tax on Vista Questions

    The prices are already expensive (and made worse by the £1 to $1 exchange rate). Had I been informed there was also a further hike in price by 21% for tax (which I don't understand why its being levied anyway since the ship is in international waters)- I 100% definitely would not have booked this cruise. I couldn't give a monkies "the money isn't going to carnival" the only thing that concerns me is the total it will cost me. Not sure why that's confusing for you.

     

     

    Im confused by this statement about the exchange rate, and I'm hoping someone can clear it up, as we are American and visiting London after the cruise. I'm not always the best at math, so I want to make sure I'm understanding how the exchange works.

     

    I was under the impression that the Pound is actually stronger than the U.S. Dollar (as of today £1 = $1.44). Wouldn't this be beneficial to a resident of the U.K. when spending money on a U.S. based ship that charges in U.S. dollars?

     

    I know when we visit London our total hotel cost is going to be £757, which is $1090.27... It also looks like the Pound is stronger than the Euro as well (£1 = €1.27), so for a European the £757 hotel bill would cost them €958.06.

     

    Wouldn't a U.K. resident be coming out ahead in the currency situation?? Shouldn't I be more angry about the currency situation as an American? Lol! [emoji12]

    Vista Havana Cabana Balcony v. Suite

    The info is from Carmival's website. Click on deck plans on the Vista's page, select your deck and then click on your cabin. However, I would take the information on the website with a grain of salt. Website is not always correct. Will have to wait until the ships sails, or more photos come in, to know how accurate or inaccurate the website info actually is.

    Vista Havana Cabana Balcony v. Suite

    As to whether or not the Havana cabana balcony (HE) cabins will have hammocks, I guess we will just have to wait and see. I hope they have them but I will make do if we don't have one :) Carnival's website still lists a hammock in the cabin description and it's shown on the cabin layout (see attached photos). Also, John Heald did a video tour of one of the HE cabins a few days ago. There was no furniture on the patio yet but I thought he said hammocks will be installed. Time will tell.

     

     

    This is so cool that you can see the details of your specific stateroom on the carnival site! I've looked everywhere and can't figure out how to see mine. Can you tell me where you went on the site to see a specific stateroom? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!! [emoji5]
