We like the penthouse suite on Odyssey and Sojourn for the same reason- DW can sleep in when I wake up early. Having said that, I would never pay full price for one. It’s either a paid upgrade, or upfront if cruise is heavily discounted.

Our Quest Cruise - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
commodoredave replied to CLOU's topic in Seabourn Cruise Line
Most of us have unfortunately had a less-than-acceptable cruise on occasion. However, unless that bad experience extends to another cruise, or reviews are consistently negative, I don’t give up on a cruise line. That philosophy has served me well. -
We have sailed Cunard in PG a number of times on the QM2 and found it a wonderful experience. For us, there is no better way to cross the pond than on the QM2 — a gorgeous ocean liner and best ship in the world for rough seas. Having said that, outside of the QM2, prefer Seabourn.

Delighted to hear as we will be on the Sojourn next year. Let’s hope good things continue.

Just off Celebrity and wow did I miss Princess!
commodoredave replied to kaerofan's topic in Princess Cruises
We had a very enjoyable cruise on the Celebrity Eclipse in May, and will soon be sailing on the Sun Princess. We loved the food on Eclipse, mainly because we dined in a small restaurant (Blue) which is exclusive to AquaClass cabins. The Martini Bar with the frosted counter was our favourite place for pre-dinner cocktails, but sometimes difficult to snag 2 bar stools there. We are looking forward to our Princess cruise on the Sun and expect it will equal or surpass our most recent experience with Celebrity. Bottom line: we would sail with both anytime. -
Talking about reputational and legal risk, there is an interesting thread on the Silversea board called Silversea Shenanigans Onboard Silver Muse. The OP has now taken the cruise line to arbitration over an upgraded brand of champagne that she did not receive but was apparently entitled to. The dispute is really over principle, and not the $10 difference in the 2 types of champagne. Now, if Silversea had handled the matter in a more customer friendly way, it could have avoided some reputational damage and legal costs. Never mind the many hours of labour invested in it. The outcome will be interesting.

Just go on their website and look at the descriptions of their dining options. It does not have to be in the contract if a company is using the information to attract customers and generate business. It’s commonly known as false advertising and deceptive marketing, which may have reputational and legal consequences.

We like the extra sq footage in the signature suites (S4) and the suite restaurant, but thought it was not worth the huge added cost. So we booked a deluxe balcony, bid to upgrade at half the cost, and won. It was a risk, but one we were happy to take as we still would have been happy in our balcony cabin.

Where did anyone say it would ruin their vacation? Of course it would not. But my fare included 3 evenings of specialty dining x 8 people. As a matter of principle, I expected a gesture of goodwill in return for the weeklong unavailability of one of the specialty restaurants. Any customer focused company would agree, and did. End of story.
