  1. On 18 cruises my wife and I have taken 4 on the Carnival Fantasy we have never come across anything like this - we have also never come across dust in a room that would warrant us taking pictures due to an allergy attack.

One of the things I thought was a little suspicious about the story was the statement that the father's name was not being given to protect the family's privacy - but at the top of the article were 2 pictures courtesy of Jim Walker (I presume this is the person who was taking pictures of dust in the room when he found the camera) - This smells like a fake story to me.

  2. I went on a cruise Last April and we purchased the Cheers Pkg. and We couldnt get a drink, When I tell u we waited 15-20 minutes on Carnival Ecstasy . It was terrible. I am booked on the Vista in May and I read tons of posts same thing not enough bar help. I think when the Cheers program came out, They reduced there bar staff. I think Carnival needs more Bar help. I used to sit by the pool and people would bug me every 5 minutes Can I get u a drink. Now days not one time the whole cruise.

You went on a cruise last April and it's taken you almost a year to post this? Me thinks this is not valid -

We have been on many Carnival cruises and NEVER had a problem getting a drink

  3. in 2009 we were in D736 on the Ruby Princess - here are a few pictures of the balcony area I took at the time - IMO it is the best cabin we have stayed in on any of our cruises.

The "dreaded beam" in no way intruded on our space.

We heard no noise from any vents.

We incurred no smell from such vents.

In short the balcony in this room was supurb

  4. I don't believe that you receive them with the cap. The rules state that all bottles and cans will be served opened. On our last cruise, they wouldn't let my brother take a beer unopened. You may want to "save-up" caps for the bottles and bring them with you to recap the bottles.

On my last two cruises on Carnival every night I was able to get another can of Fosters to take back to my room - I had no problem with even needing to ask the bartender not to open it - it pays to get to know the people who look after you when you're on a cruise

  5. there must have been miscommunication on the bartenders because there was never a time where sharing was allowed and you always had to wait 5 minutes between drinks.

You might just have had a very generous bartender that took a risk and hoped for a bigger tip. I believe cheers always came out being 'non-sharing' and a 5 minute wait.

I am not disputing your situation but it was still against the rules

I agree with the miscommunication between bar staff and there is a five minute rule between drinks that I have experienced. At the time, which was several years ago I was informed by a bar server that I had to wait 5 minutes before I could buy a drink for a friend , and it would count towards my total of 15. If any rules were broken by me buying a drink for someone else then it was because of a fault by management due to mis-communication of the rules. I was never given the option of buying a drink for someone else or myself and paying for it outside the cheers package. Every drink I have obtained , or failed to obtain, since I started getting the cheers package was within the rules as determined by my server, and I've never had a problem with that.

  6. if you want to buy drinks for friends, you can do that for cheers. the first drink will be charged to your cheers count and you can pay for your friends drinks.

if you are giving your friends your drinks on cheers, that is against the rules

maybe I misunderstood what you are saying but it sounds like you are giving your cheers drinks to friends and ran out

The cheers program has had its rules tweaked since its introduction - At the time I was talking about ALL drinks bought where part of your program - it was not possible to buy any drinks without them being counted towards your limit of 15 drinks in 24 hours - you were able to get a drink for a friend but it counted towards your total. This was not against the rules in place at the time. It would be a violation of today's rules. The rules have changed now and it is now possible to charge drinks to your S&S account - this was not possible back when I first got the cheers package.

  7. Okay so I may be wrong on this but I believe that I read somewhere that if you go over the 15 drink limit on the cheers program all additional drinks are at regular bar prices. While they do have the right to cut you off at any point, in a 24 hour period a person drinking just beer spaced out wouldn't necessarily be drunk so they wouldn't need to be cut off.

Again I may be wrong and would appreciate someone with first hand knowledge to answer.

On one of our cruises I had been having drinks all day with some friends and I had been drinking very slowly throughout the day. BEfore going to bed for the night I tried getting a nightcap - I was told I had reached my limit fof 15 drinks and was not allowed to get another - even if I offered to pay for it. This taught me the lesson to not spend the day buying drinks for friends

  8. :D thanks to all the CC members for great info. my last day at work, flying to miami tomorow morning. sail monday on the destiny. 6th CCL cruise for us. i hope to do my first review after. including FTTF. just one last question. on formal night what color flip plops would go good with purple wife beater shirt :eek::eek:.LOL

The answer to this one is obvious - it's October - Breast Cancer awareness Month - First - the wife beater shirt HAS to have a pink ribbon on it - Then a pink Baseball hat, pink leggings and black flip flops. If you can't get these at Men's Warehouse I'm sure Walmart has them - Have a wonderful cruise and wear PINK!

  9. I can't enter for the free cruise because the box to type the jumbled letters in is on top of the box with the letters obscuring them from view. Anyone else with this issue?

Having the same issue - Does anyone have a phone number for reporting tech problems with the Princess website?

  10. Our first Princess cruise was also our first cruise. It was on the Caribbean Princess in February 2008 - 7 day Eastern Caribbean. We were in mini-suite D827.Our cabin steward was Augie and he was EXCELLENT. It was an absolutely fantastic introduction to cruising and we've been hooked ever since.

A week before this cruise was due to leave we got a call from Princess - the cruise was overbooked. They asked us if we would consider taking a different cruise - in return they would give us an upgrade to a full suite and future cruise credit. It was a fantastic offer but unfortunately we couldn't take advantage of it. No regrets though because our first cruise did spoil us.

We're looking forward to heading out this weekend on the Ruby for a 5 day Western Caribbean. We'll be calling at Grand Cayman - if any of you have read my previous posts you will know about our visit there in 2010 when medical concerns resulted in us abandoning our Super Bowl Crown Princess cruise.

  11. I will confess - I have not read all the posts on this thread or on the original (now locked) thread - but the original poster in the original thread started talking about Bert Stratton on Princess ships, and I had the pleasure of listening to Bert on the Caribbean Princess last September. He is a terrific entertainer and very enjoyable. He is also a very nice man who sat and talked with us for a while.

I also had the pleasure of sitting in the Cleopatra Lounge on the Carnival Fantasy over the Labor Day weekend listening to a pianist. Angela Johnson is not only a classically trained concert pianist who is totally at one with her piano, she also has a wonderful personality, a magnificent voice and judging from what I saw from everyone else listening to her (as well as my own ears), she tops my list. Yes, she does have her way of singing a song, and it may not be the same way the song was originally done - but that's what style is about.

Best piano player (and pianist) on Carnival? - Angel Johnson

Angela - if you read this - I wish you well with your plans for a website, get the CD out so I can buy it, and I'm sorry if my drumming put you off at times.
