Not at the NCL pier but at an airport.  You're basically on your own, so be prepared.  Shovel, scraper, gloves, etc.  You never know what you'll be coming back to.

A shovel is a great idea!

We came back to NY NCL Pier from a major snowstorm a few years ago--they had plowed behind the cars, but it was difficult to get out,  Everyone was getting stuck.  We were wishing we had a shovel, but we had a truck so for us it wasn't too bad.

  2. Last week on the Gem, my DS turned my DH onto a drink called an AMF--like a long island ice tea, but a beautiful blue.

I can't tell you what the initials stand for because they will ban me from the boards-lol. They are delicious!

The bartenders know it by the initials

  3. I was on the Gem 2 years ago in Nassau--lots of time we don't even get off the ship there.

I booked an early cut and highlight so not to take up the whole day.

What a joy! The stylist was from Denmark and took lots of time head massage with hair wash, etc. and the views out the window!

I felt very pampered and the cut and color was great-my husband could not believe what a difference it made!

I think it was $130 for both but well worth the feeling of being pampered--I usually go to Supercuts and spend alot less.

The only thing I would warn about is I think they are pressured to sell you hair and skin products. It was brought up to me- the Stylist said he could make a list of some of the products he used on me to see if I wanted to purchase them,

but I just politely said "no thank you" and that was that.

All in all a wonderful experience!

  4. We are booked on Gem in February in 9579 (Inside)

Two adults... and now so hoping it will be OK as far as room to move around and storage ?????

Anyone know the cabin or immediate area??

    thanks

    jaja

My DH and I never thought we would like an inside room , but because we like cruising so much and the prices were so much cheaper, we kinda got used to it. One thing we do is when we go to sleep we turn the tv on to the deck cam channel and then when the sun comes up, it's like having a window to the outside. Actually one time in the middle of the night from NY we could see it blizzarding across the bow! Very cool!

  5. Just got off the Breakaway-there is no pool like the picture above-that might be on Getaway or Epic? However they do have a waterfall feature with seats that you can sit under and cool off. We spent all of our warm days there -it usually was not crowded and was very quiet. Bar is there and Uptown Grill for food(complimentary). We loved it!

  6. A couple yeaes ago we did a one nighter on NCL and my 2 boys 18 and 15 brought friends with them. They spent a good part of the afternoon in the pool and the water was steaming, so I know that pool was heated-never been on Carnival to know. Our first cruise is on 1/28 on the Splendor-can't wait!
