Hi,
We're cruising 3rd July on Epic's West Med cruise.
We put a nominal bid in for upgrade and I'm wondering how far ahead of the cruise we get notified if the bid was successful or not?
What's your experience with this?
TIA

We are.. Kids are 17 (boy) , 16, (girl) while on this trip and 13 (boy)..
First time to Europe for all of us and I am sure our nights we will be exhausted. We have SO much planned!
Us too - given how much there is to see/do in each of the ports, as well as the various activities onboard, we'll need a holiday to recover from the cruise!

Have you popped into the roll call for the cruise?
I think there are a few families with teens (not sure about tween).
We're doing this cruise with DD, 15 (turning 16 in mid July) and DS, 14 (turning 15 in Sept.)

I was able to watch it on the Breakaway in 2014 and the Epic last summer! I feel your concern! I'll be on the Breakaway again during Wimbledon this summer! It was very exciting to watch the matches on the big screen in Spice H2O......and it is on in all the bars!
When we watch at home, the matches don't start until 10pm - it will be nice to see in relatively same time zone 🙂

I can't comment on Wimbledon specifically, but we have been on the Epic a number of times when the French Open is on, and it has been on the TV's in places like o'Sheehans.
Tennis is a sport which seems to get reasonable coverage on the channel NCL shows.
Great - thank you KeithJenner for your quick reply.
We've just been watching the French Semi Final - tennis is the one sport I'll seek out.

We're sailing on Epic ex Rome 3rd July.
Wimbledon commences on 1st July. Question: Will the ship (based on your previous experience) broadcast the matches somewhere?
TIA

Thanks for the great feedback on Epic.
The negative reviews have been a bit of a concern, but it's lovely to hear an all-round, concise review.
We're joining in Rome at the beginning of July and can't wait.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.
We're not "costume-y" people, but we can throw some white clothes and glow things in the luggage.
Counting the days...

Hi,
Does anyone know what regular theme/party nights are on NCL Epic for their West Mediterranean cruises?
TIA.

The port intensive part of the cruise was the attraction - we are thinking we can combat jetlag a lot more easily by walking full days and then having a couple of early-ish nights.

We just booked a 7 day West Med cruise (ex Rome) on Epic in July as part of a bigger Europe trip.
Since booking, I've come back onto CC and can't seem to find overly positive things about Epic.
We've previously sailed RCCL and P&O, all in Australia/South Pacific.
The aim of this cruise for us is to get over jetlag (27 hour flight + transit time) before heading to Prague. We're staying in inside cabins (DH & DS in one; DD & me in the other).
Odd bathroom/shower configuration aside, can anyone give me some positives for Epic?

The FOOLS will have lost the money they paid for their cruise, any On Board Purchases pre-paid and are in (deservedly) serious trouble!
IIRC, the Pacific Explorer used to be the Dawn Princess.
Hope everyone else can settle down and enjoy their cruise in safety.
It's also very possible that they'll be responsible for any fees the ship/cruiseline incurred to make the diversion and come into port - it's not as easy as just pulling over the side of the road and telling them to get off. What morons.
You can imagine what they were like during the cruise - I bet the other passengers are glad to see the back of them.
-
And good riddance to them as well if they were causing issues. Wonder what it was about.
I'm sure in the sober ( light of day it will be over nothing - certainly nothing worth the trouble they're going to be in.
"Sober" being the operative word.

Apparently there was a glassing onboard. The vision on the news of the security boat/zodiac escorting her in is quite something.

Hi,
We have friends cruising ex Sydney on Explorer of the Seas and one of the party needs wheelchair assistance.
They have a later boarding time (closer to 4pm), but they are staying in a hotel so will be at the dock around 12.
Question is: will RCCL allow them to board even though it's earlier than the designated time?
I've always only had early boarding, so can't really answer the question for them.
TIA.

You can also take 10 cans of soft drink per person in the cabin. They have to be loose (ie not in the cardboard packaging). You can't take water on board or pop top-type drinks.

Hi beagle 24
We are in 1852 on our next cruise so will post some pics when we get back.
We got back today after sailing on Voyager and stayed in 1852! Great room, loved the location. The view every morning was beautiful.
Abdul, our room attendant, was amazing; nothing was too much trouble. My son wasn't feeling well, and he kept checking in on him and asking if there was anything he could do.
We had our kids - 11 & 12 - in the room as well, which required cooperation for the bathroom but all in all, it was fine for a week.

Just got off Voyager last week, the movies shown by the pool are rather loud I found, although I only saw a few. They played Home, The Walk, Spectre, unfortunately don't remember the others, but can find the Compass's tomorrow and have a look if you'd like.
That would be great, thank you - so long as it's not too much of a hassle :)
-
We love watching movies outside (we've set up our own pool theatre at home), but I was thinking about some others that we're travelling with may not be quite so keen.
Do you know of a way that I can find out what movies are being shown at the moment?
Thanks,
-
Hi all,
Just a question for recent Voyager passengers - what movies are being shown on the deck? Also, if you're not interested in watching the movie, but sitting in the area, can you still enjoy a conversation, etc or are you best to find somewhere else?
Thanks in advance. :)

Hi All,
The travel agent who we booked through said that they would need visas regardless of whether they're staying on the ship or not at New Caledonia or their boarding may be denied.
I think the lesson here, regardless of outcome, is to follow the advice of your travel agent. It's why you're paying them.
Hopefully it all works out, but your friends have certainly cut it close. I would be losing sleep at this point.

Thanks for your quick replies!
Kids are 11 & 12, so no nappies (thank goodness, that was always fun when travelling!)
I'll be sitting by the pool with a mojito in between finding our way around the ship.
Thanks again x

Hi,
We're sailing away on Voyager this weekend (yay!) and, given the gorgeous weather we're having in Sydney, the kids are going to want to get into the pool ASAP.
My question is - will the pool be available for swimming when we board?
Thanks,
Upgrade Notifications - how far ahead of cruise?

Thanks, everyone.
We'll be spending the 2 days prior to the cruise flying, so it'll be a surprise.
Not too worried about whether there is an upgrade, it's really just getting onboard and getting out of the current 15C/59F winter cold. We need to defrost. 😁
