  1. Hi Cooley Consumers,

Sadly we had to cancel this cruise for medical reasons. Will you be writing a review? It would be greatly appreciated as we would like to re-book a similar itinerary on Azamara in the future.

Incidentally, Azamara Cruise Care insurance was easy to deal with and quick to refund all our money once the paperwork was submitted.

  2. Guess it depends on the person.

If you are the energetic up and at 'em type who jumps right out of bed, gets dressed and goes dashing off to the buffet or dining room for breakfast, I guess you really don't need the balcony.

But for slow starters like us, a port intensive cruise is where we really need the balcony.

Without a balcony, we would miss the scenic approaches to the new ports in the mornings.

We would never make it off the ship in time for an early morning excursion if we first had to start going to the buffet or dining room for breakfast.

One of us eats breakfast on the balcony, or at least has that first cup of coffee out there, while the other is getting ready in the bathroom. Then we switch places.

Room service breakfast on the balcony on port days saves us so much time and is so much more pleasant than running back and forth that it would be worth the price of the balcony just for that alone.

But then after an excursion, we love coming back to our balcony and having our own relaxing private space to rest up and change. There again, one of us relaxes with a drink on the balcony while the other is getting ready.

Necessary? Of course not, but having a balcony greatly enhances our enjoyment of the cruise.

    Well put!!!!!!

  3. Breakfast on the balcony is the best on days when the ship arrives very early into port. We would order room service, wrap ourselves in Azamara robes, and enjoy our delicious food as we sailed into port and sometimes into the daylight. We recommended this to friends who recently sailed on the Journey and they enjoyed it so much that they ate every breakfast on the balcony.

  4. Thanks to all who wrote and gave me encouragement and advice !

Tomorrow (Monday ) I'll start acting on both fronts - getting in touch with Larry Pimentel's office (still not sure how) hoping for a change in their decision - but also finding out what happened with our refund (in other words ; where are the taxes and transfers?!)

I'll let you know how it goes..

And I hope that this time Laraine will be wrong about the "less than legendary" shore side service :)

But I do miss Bill.. :o

    Miriam

    Good luck!!!!

  5. All of us are extremely concerned about what's happening in the Middle East. We are closely monitoring the situation.

Our ships are not scheduled to visit any ports in Israel until the Quest’s October 14, 2014, Journey of St Paul.

While at this time we are not changing our ports of call to Israel, we will continue to monitor the situation and will contact guests or their travel agents a.s.a.p. should we need to make any modifications to upcoming itineraries.

The safety and security of our guests and crew members are always our highest priority.

    Dear Bonnie,

We, too, are booked on this cruise and appreciate Azamara's caution and your attention to our concerns. We will be following your blog for future updates.

    Thank you,

    Susan and Mark

  6. Hi Marty,

I couldn't agree more with the points you make.

Unlike some, we've only done 2 Azamara cruises but have loved them both. they were very different experiences: one was from Shanghai to Hong Kong and had a good number of sea days (and was freezing most of the time, to the point of having snow leaving Incheon) and the other was from Venice to Nice, port intensive and much warmer!

I hope you enjoy your experience, and after that come back for more. The crew are fantastic, and how much room do you need in a shower anyway!

    Cheers,

    Sue

Finally, a positive thread, and well deserved praise for Azamara. We too are counting the days until our next cruise, which is in October. My husband and I love everything about Azamara. My best is breakfast on the balcony, just as the sun is coming up. as we sail into port.

    Enjoy!!!!!

  7. I just cancelled my Oct 2014 Croatia cruise with Azamara Quest. They sold off my original cabin midship on 7 and stuck me in a Club Continent 8067 in deck 8. Mold growing under my bed, broken shower drain, sewage odors in hallway, fans blowing to camouflage odor, stains on carpet, and noise above from restaurant chairs moving. I would be surprised if they are around and this is not the same Azamara I had taken prior and going downhill fast. You may be able to get a real good deal on my Croatia cruise ;-)) My Amex travel agent told me my cabin move was "revenue driven" so obviously they got a better price for my midship 7 and stuck me with the "garbage". Couple two cabins down from me also cancelled their cruise. Two down, more to come I am sure.

Had you booked a particular cabin or was this a guarantee?

    Thanks

  8. Take the things you like best on Celebrity and make them even better. Better food, better service, fewer people, more interesting ports, pool deck with really comfortable lounges, all drinks and tips included, and smiles everywhere. You will love it. Sure, it costs more. It is worth it. Happiness just thinking about my next cruise on the Journey.

Well said and ditto for us!!!!!

  9. Hi, I know this probably has been asked a zillion times, but I'm going to ask anyway.

We've never sailed anywhere before so I'm going to say that

we would not qualify for reserving in the two speciality restaurants ahead of time as this is only available to do for guests that have sailed on Azamara before?

There is no problem reserving a table at the specialty restaurants when you are on the ship. You may call from your cabin phone or visit the restaurant once on board. My suggestion is to go to the restaurant of your choice soon after you board in order to have the best choice of times and dates. The reservations book quickest for days at sea.
