Just recently home after a week on the Veendam. I'm surprised at the many recommendations for this ship. Yes she small and less crowded but she is also tired and worn and seems quite out of date compared to the other ships we have cruised
The worst crime however was the cafeteria quality food in the Lido. Rotterdam was better but not outstanding
Veendam was not my best cruise experience - sorry to say
-
I'm currently sailing on this cruise also. I hope you don't mind if I chime in
We sailed this time last year on the Maasdam - same cruise, same time of year. We had such a good time we thought we'd do it again.
Sadly the Veendam is not the same experience. Worn and tired stateroom, limited activities, very average entertainment and the worst crime of all .....cafeteria quality food.
We had a great day in Quebec City and a fabulous off ship lunch. Thank goodness for that

Thank you all for responding- I'm absolutely astonished that there is no solution and that it is so universally unwanted.
I'm even more astonished that the cruise companies would not welcome an easy way to reduce costs
First world problem for sure!
-
Sounds like there isn't an easy solution to this problem. Perhaps I'll call Regent and see if someone there can help
These days I would say, most people do their cruise research on line. Such a costly waste and Regent/Oceania mail these things so frequently
With most businesses these days looking for ways to trim costs this would be an easy one
-
How does one end the continuous brochures by mail?
I've check the Regent website, thought perhaps I would just update my profile, but that wasn't an option that I could see
I then attempted to email Regent but couldn't see an email option other than those offered for FAQs
The mail is continuous and I don't need it. Let's save some trees and perhaps help reduce the cost of Regent cruises too [emoji41]

We sailed with Silhouette Nov 2015 and Jan 2016.
In Nov we chose to self disembark with luggage in tow it. It was very chaotic. We waited ages for an elevator, people we losing their cool and there wasn't enough staff around to direct the people traffic
Last weekend was a better experience. we had a later flight and gave Celebrity the luggage the evening before. We had tag #2 so we were off the ship by 8am. This time everything seemed more orderly.
Looks like they've worked the bugs out. Enjoy your cruise. Silhouette delivers a great cruise experience

One last quick question before we sail.....
On this trip which side of the ship faced land when in port?
"I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again..."
-
Our TA arranged it It's not a free service we are paying to rent the chair
-
Thank you that's good to know.
We rented just a push along wheelchair to help navigate longer distances and to take with us off ship at the ports of call. Since we can fold it up when she doesn't need it I thought that would be more practical
I didn't think about it being in the cabin. - thank you I'll check that out first before talking to guest services
It's nice to know that the celebrity staff will help her boarding too. It's not that she can't walk but as you know boarding can be quite a distance
-
We have arranged a wheelchair rental on board for my Mother who can walk but tires easily
If you've done this before can you tell me where we would pick up the chair - Guest Relations Desk? Or is available at the registration area before boarding
With thanks

Dear Bimmer09
What a joy to find your witty and interesting review.
I board this ship and this same route on Sunday. I might be reading your review in real time! That will be fun for me - assuming the Internet connection cooperates of course
Just imagine sitting in Murano looking at the menu, can't decided which lovely entree to choose, I shall whip out my phone and see what the entree looks like. TA Da .... Decision made. Easy easy .... Thank you!

Ok now I'm looking forward to it. [emoji1]. Thanks everyone [emoji173]️

Thanks good to know. Perhaps I will be surprised after all

We sail the silhouette In a few weeks. Our first port of call is San Juan. We dock at 3:30pm. - it's Winter and it gets dark at 5:30. Just wondering why a cruise line would consider this to be a good idea for its passengers
May as well be a sea day, it's going to feel like one

We are leaving on Jan 31 out of the Hamilton ontario airport. We received our flight times last week. The flight is direct but to Palm Beach Airport not Ft Lauderdale. Transportation will be provided by Celebrity to the port
This is our first time using this all in package (not first time X). I've heard good things from others about the experience in previous years. Hoping for the same outcome
-
How far in advance are flight times communicated. We cruise in four weeks out of Hamilton and waiting for flight info
Also is there in flight entertainment available
With thanks
-
Yes. Same as ship but fewer options when ashore
-
You raise an interesting point. I've recently returned from a Celebrity cruise and many on my roll call group were critical of the experience
In my opinion you get what you pay for with Celebrity - nothing more nothing less. Celebrity is not a luxury cruise line - it's mass market cruising like many of its similar competitors. I've had the privilege of two small ship luxury cruise lines vacations and again I got what I paid for an expensive but luxury experience
Your Celebrity cruise will be very enjoyable as long as you have the right expectation

I'm currently on Silhouette. I've had the worst luck with my seapass. Everyday and I mean everyday, the card has stopped working and I need to line up for a new one - never happened on any other cruise
I've tried in the pocket, in the wallet, in the paper wallet thingy and still it stops working and I need to line up at guest relations again and again
I'm wondering if hanging it on a lanyard would solve the problem. Anyone else have this experience
-
Thank you, that was very helpful. What a variety of tempting choices too
-
I know they are outrageous but does anyone have any updated prices or a spa menu. In particular I'm also interested in the reduced prices offered in a port day
With thanks

Thanks for your replies
Bringing our clubs is not an option but we can bring balls. Anyone have an estimate on the club rental fee? What's a reasonable tip for the Caddy?
Since its Jamaica I prefer to use a ship arranged excursion. I don't feel confident booking privately in Jamaica
-
Our cruise next month stops in Falmouth and we are considering a shore excursion for a day of golf at Cinnamon Hill.
The excursion description does not say if it includes the use of golf clubs - description says green fees cart and caddy and use of driving range etc
Anyone done this excursion and can provide some feed back
With thanks

My first Celebrity Cruise is less than 2 months (cant wait). I completed the on line check in but can't seem to find a way to order luggage tags
Can someone please point me in the right direction
Thank you for your help
Sailing MSC and parking at Port of Miami
in MSC Cruises
Posted
We are sailing on the Divina next month. We will drive to the Port of Miami and park at the cruise port. If you have experience parking at the port ( not at a hotel or private off site parking lot) can you tell me about your experience.
Was it easy to find and was there sufficient parking spots? is there a shuttle to take you from your car to the MSC terminal
With thanks
