  1. I guess I might need to clarify a couple things. I usually wake up at 7, so going out and getting a couple of chairs isn’t really the problem. It’s more the fact that you have to do it that is the problem. Also, I don’t care for the chairs on Lido itself. Horizon has great wicker chairs with pads on deck 11 aft that can be both in the sun and shade. Those are where we sat every day.

The problem is that ppl put their stuff on chairs and don’t use them for 2 or 3 hrs and Carnival staff do nothing about it. I have no problem moving someone’s stuff if they haven’t been around for a long period of time, but why should I. There is a guy just standing by the pool doing nothing but watching, shouldn’t he at least i force Carnivals rules. Or is Carnival, just like so many other company’s cowering to the possibility of a bad comment that they do nothing?

  2. Just off the Horizon and mostly loved it. Biggest gripe, lack of chair space around pools and chair hogs. At first glance, it looks like there is lots of room around the main Lido pool. Then you go up there at 9:30 in the morning and every seat has a towel on it, but there are only maybe 1/3 with ppl in them.

You really shouldn’t have to claim your chair by 8:30 am. Be nice if Carnival would enforce their policy on saving seats.

  3. Just got off Horizon. Wore dark jeans and a nice colored shirt. The ladies working the door never said anything. Very few ppl had suits, or even shirt and tie. As long as you look presentable, they don’t seem to care.

  4. Before you decide to do the $15 bag way, you should consider the cost and how much you have to do.

We had 4 ppl and 2 full kitchen size garbage bags of laundry. We did 5 days in NY and then the cruise. On the 2nd night we did our laundry since it was the midway pt of our total vacation. No one was there. We went in later at night, 9 I think, since there wasn’t going on that night we cared about. They did t have any posted times of when it was open, so you might be able to do it whenever. This was on the Horizon.

The cost was $3 per machine. Used 2 washers. Went to dry in 2 dryers and it didn’t dry in first attempt. Put in 3 dryers to make sure they dried. Total cost was $21 and 2 hrs of our time. If we used the $15 bags, it probably would have been 3 bags and cost $45.

Worth doing ourselves. Yes, but only because we had nothing else going on. If you can just use 1 bag, I would have them do it.

  5. We are on Horizon in just over a week and are in a room near that area you are asking about. If I remember this post, I will let u know the beginning of August when we get back.

We were hesitant getting a room right under the Lido deck because of the noise. Hopping that we didn’t make a bad choice. In that, I normally wake up early and go to bed late, so hopefully my sleep patterns keep me out of any noise.

  6. I did a quick search and didn’t see anything on this. For the Pub tour on Horizon, how do you make a reservation for it? Sure it is best to do it as soon as you get on, but do you do it at the brewery, or at the main desk? Thanks for any help.

  7. We just did the California Coast cruise and felt the ship was in great shape. There was some tile issues around the pool and some wear and tear, but that is normal for a boat as old as this one. We did fell the Dinning room service was hit and miss. One night it took almost 2 hrs for dinner at a table of 8. The rest of the nights were at table for 2 and went much quicker and the service was better. Also, the bar service around the pool was lacking. This is our 7th cruise and the first time there was never anyone asking if you wanted something from the bar. Of the 3 different days we sat out by the pool, we were asked only once. Not a big thing, just nice to have them bring you drinks than having to get them yourself.

All in all though, it was a great cruise and a great boat.
