Is the thermal spa as.limited and hard to reserve as the sanctuary?

You can book the Enclave online.  Over Christmas there was only 1 time in 7 days that all chairs were taken.  Yes, there are chair hogs on sea day that camp themselves out on a heated bed with book, iPad, etc., but for the most part, people flow in and out.  After all, you don't book a (Caribbean) cruise to stay locked up.  I do believe there is a limit as to how many passes are sold.  I've heard 40, I've heard 60, but don't quote  me.

    Smells like fish?

Spent a lot of time all over that area and never smelled fish.

Never smelled like fish even when I was eating there. 🤔

Yeah people walk by but when you are in the restaurant they are not near and didn't bother me. Actually never even thought about the foot traffic. I was too busy enjoying my experience!

Although I do not like the noise from the atrium area below though.

Absolutely! My DM is 88 and we spend a lot of time in the Piazza. (Not atrium). The first two mornings I entered the Piazza, I actually thought there was a sewage leak somewhere.  Then I finally figured it out, it was the fish smell from La Mer. And I was not the only pax to comment and figure that out.  Just as you said, you didn't enjoy the noise from the Piazza, I didn't enjoy the smell from the fish.  La Mer needs to be moved IMHO.

Will grab some pictures today. Kids want to eat there sometime this week, so will provide a review if we do. Not the best location, because it is totally open to the piazza and so, during dinner time, would be when there is a lot of noise coming up from the piazza with music and activities.

It's in a public location.  People walking by as you eat (having paid extra).  AND the whole Piazza smells like fish.  IMHO, this was a big mistake and I hope Princess moves it in the future.

Thanks, all, for posting your current experiences on Sky.  We are Platinum folks -- sailing in a few weeks.

Could anyone confirm what the current arrangement is regarding Sanctuary reservations?  Must they still be purchased immediately (run don't walk) upon boarding?  Any sense of whether the full week is sold out immediately (our last experience) -- or whether half-days are actually available?

    Thanks for any feedback.

    Pedro's Girl

First day onboard I was at the service desk getting my DM's Medallion changed from Blue to Platinum, and a man next to me was going on and on and on about how he had raced to the Sanctuary, but nothing available as all the B2B cruisers had already booked them.  He was not happy.

  5. I'm still hopeful and still waiting to hear in Princess has my sunglasses and binoculars which were left in my cabin on 12/30 and SHOULD have been turned in by Stewart. I was so sick with the flu that morning I barely made it off the ship to drive home. AND I am back on-board in 69 days with the SAME Stewart (presuming his contract did not expire) and I will be addressing it with him directly if Princess has not located my items by then,. They said 4-6 weeks in the email reply to my lost & found claim.

As a follow up to my lost/left in the cabin items...we ended up with an up-sell and did not have the same stewart. However I DID search him out and he remembered me, remembered the items I left AND exactly where I left them. His exact words were that "he thought I had left them there on purpose as I was done with them and he threw them out"!!!!! When are you ever done with binoculars??? Kind of a once in a lifetime purchase! I KNOW he did not "throw the items out". I reported him the next day. I may have been at fault for leaving the items in my cabin, but he certainly did NOT follow company procedure in any way shape or form. When the person followed up with me she reported that she had started as Stewart and the training is that UNLESS it is in the bin, you do not throw anything away. Anyway, they gave me a $29 credit to Sabatini's, (which was already a bogo for my birthday). I just wanted to let everyone know to check, re-check and re-check again, no matter how ill you are, as there are definitely dis-honest cabin stewards.

  6. Aboard the Royal 4/9/18 those Chair Hogs were all over every choice location , especially those comfy couches on the pool deck . Sun wasn' t even up yet and they had their books and bags in place on those couches .Daily Patter stated that Attendants will remove that stuff after 30 minutes but It was just a idle threat . Only time it was removed was by several gutsy passengers endured a small confrontation when the Hogs arrived .

I was on the same cruise and never had a problem getting a chair at the adult pool or on the Promenade deck, or had to wait for Anytime dining. Of course I had to get to Crooners one hour before for each Perry Grant show!!! All in all it was a GREAT cruise! Thank you Princess!

  7. Even on the Royal there are "half sized" laundry rooms. I used the one on Marina in Dec. and ended up running up or down one deck to do the drying and was surprised when I walked in and the laundry room went from one side to the other. As long as there are laundry facilities, I'm happy. Full size / Half size. Not important. They could put them just on every other deck and it would not bother me.

  8. Shoot! I made a mistake! I meant on Emerald deck, not dolphin. So we don't have a floor in between us. Would you still take it?

I mean a "Premium deluxe balcony". Thanks!

I turned this Suite down at Christmas for the very same reason. The year before we were directly above the piano in Crooners and it was AWFUL. I will never make that mistake again...not even for a suite! I sail with my elderly Mother so we are both in bed by 11:00. I guess if you're a night owl, or flying in from somewhere with a time difference, you might not consider it a disadvantage. Your call. And then there are still the soot issues on Royal aft cabins......

  9. You are obviously not one of the younger (or even middle aged) cruisers sought by cruise lines because they tend to spend more money aboard (known as increasing onboard revenue). What is really sad is that I also know who those folks are (I should say "were" since most are dead). Consider that Jane Powell made her last movie in 1958 (although she had a few guest appearances into the 70s), Like I said earlier, Perry has a great Plastic Surgeon! The next time he asks me, "who are you wearing" perhaps I will come back with "who does your face?"

    Hank

Ha-Ha, you could not be more wrong. I just turned 60!!! Not sure what your definition of "younger" (or even middle aged) is??????? And I have heard that the bar revenues in Crooners increase when Perry is at the Piano.

  10. To each his own. I'll never understand why people sit in the casino day and night and yes, I WOULD pay to go see Perry.

He has played for Malcolm Forbes, Prince Charles & Diana, at The Park Lane Hotel, The Savoy, etc. He has also accompanied notable Hollywood MGM legends including Ann Miller, June Allyson, Debbie Reynolds, Jane Powell. But as I said...to each his own.

  11. Totally agree with Barbels. I saw him for the first time in December and I have been Perry-ized! Booked my April 9th cruise JUST to go back and see him again before he crosses the pond and heads back to Crystal. His "fan" club onboard certainly welcomed me with open arms. He is, by far, the best Entertainer on the high seas imho. As a side note, I lost my 13.5 yr. old dog 30 days after returning from the Dec. cruise and the ONLY thing that brought a smile to my face in the (still) dark days and nights was watching Perry's videos online. How can you say he isn't talented? He plays the piano with one hand and the keyboard with the other...at the same time!!!. He knows all the music by heart. I would take 1/10th of that talent! To each his own. I LOVE Perry and his act!

  12. Anybody ever had their bed (twin bed) moved onto the balcony. For our upcoming cruise, Panama Canal, we have a balcony that seems large enough to have one of the beds set up there. I like to try sleeping outside :D(DW does not). Would they do it?

    Theo

    Try a hammock!!!!

  13. I was on the Regal Xmas cruise. Liam was horrible. But I think Mary Simon was even worse. They switched up every night between Crooners and Wheelhouse. I love Crooners but ended up spending very little time there.

I'll be on Royal in a week. Glad to hear the entertainment is much better!

Well I and a few thousand other people think Perry is the best entertainer on the high seas. Tell him "Baroness" will see him on April 9th!

  14. Perry Grant is at Crooners on Royal and I enjoyed him sooooo much in December that I've booked his last US cruise in April. He has got to be the best Entertainer at Sea! Look him up online at that link that shows videos! If you EVER get a chance to see him, you will be hooked. He has thousands of fans who book cruises, just because he will be on it. He does not just sing, but ENTERTAINS and plays with the audience! The BEST!
