If you say so. All I know is every cruise I’ve been on it states every single day in the cruise compass that shorts are not allowed in the dining room. You can call that whatever you want.

Hmmm. My husband has worn nice shorts to dinner several times other than elegant evenings.  I do recall reading somewhere before that said shorts were not allowed in main dining rooms on elegant nights. I think that has changed a lot.

  2. FWIW, having a cabin on each side of the shop worked great for us when we sailed with friends. When it was sunny or something interesting to see was on our side they came to our cabin and enjoyed our balcony. And we went to theirs when the view was on their side. So perhaps the separation will bot be a bad thing.

    Hi Clay,

You are so right - I was thinking that we would probably gravitate where the sights were best. :) Thank you!

  3. Hiya, sea-mates,

Well, on day 80 I also received the official email from NCL to upgrade for my upcoming cruise. Yes, I was looking for it everyday to pop up in my inbox, too. We (and our dear friends) were booked in an inside cabin next to each other on deck 14. We decided on the same day we received the offer to bid $135.00 for the balcony and opting out of ocean view.. After watching the prices closely, modified our bid last week to $185.00. That part is also really easy and

I called NCL often and also mocked up prices online.

Yesterday (day 59 from embarkation) we received the exciting and congratulatory email that our bids were accepted.:D Woo-hoo! I certainly didn't expect to hear anything this soon and had accepted that I may have to wait until 2-3 days out prior to the cruise.

We were awarded midship balconies also on deck 14. My husband and I are on starboard side while our friends were assigned also mid-ship on port side. No complaints here and we are very excited!

Based on the prices yesterday, if we were to book the same cabin directly it would have cost us over $600 total. One tip for you - whatever you decide to bid, just be ok with it... If you get it, it's a WIN-WIN! If you don't, you are still going to have a blast! Hope this helps!

I'll end it here by saying that If NCL ever makes considerations in the future to the upgrade terms, it would be 'really' nice to have the option to then select another cabin that is within same category to be closer to our friends. Maybe that's a logistic nightmare..... or not. At any rate - we are happy and thank you, NCL!

We are on the Bliss sailing the Mexican Riviera on Oct. 13, 2018. Cheers!

Hope to sea you around the ship,

    Michele ;)

  4. my friend who is on the Escape now called 10 days out and went from an inside to a mini suite for $150 p/p. I guess it depends on the week you sail. I sail over spring break (Mar 26), so I don't expect anything, but I will try.

Me too! Went from inside stateroom to Balcony Midship by upgrading to Balcony guarantee and got a midship cabin on deck 13 for $90pp. :)

  5. We also went to Maho Beach last year via Bernards Tours. I believe we spent at least an hour or more here which was enough time to see several planes land and take off. For a small island, the airport is rather busy!

I loved Maho beach it was a great experience. I dont think it is worth spending an entire day here unless your plan is to get wasted at the bar and blown over by planes taking off all day. From what I see, it appears that people do just that.

Bernards Tours was great because it offers many highlights of the island little by little. At $45 pp it was money well spent. Oh I didI mention they offer beer, rum punch, soda and water in the price?

Can't wait! Thanks for the additional info!

  6. If you just want to do Maho then your best bet is to grab a cab at the pier. If you would like to spread your day out then Bernards tours is a great way to spend your day. I have gone both routes. I am about to head back for a 3rd visit and this time I will do as I did last time and just grab a taxi to maho for a drink or 2, plane watch and then head back to the ship.

    Hello!

Think we just want to taxi over to Maho for drinks and to watch the planes, but I am curious as to what Bernard offers? Is there a link for more information that you might kindly share?

    Thank you!
