  1. Thank you for all the insight into these cabins. I surely would not hesitate to book one. Unfortunately the cruise I was looking to book, is totally sold out of any suite and almost all verandah cabins as it is a special "by invitation only" gambling cruise, so I guess it was not meant to be. However if the opportunity to sail on the Nieuw Amsterdam in the future, I will once again try and get one of these.

  2. Looking at booking a Signature Suite on the Nieuw Amsterdam in November and I'm picky with the location of staterooms. Looking at the deck plans for this ship I am considering SS 6082, 6087,6084 or 6089. However I note that any of these are right next to the elevator, which is not a concern, unless these elevators run outside the ship, as some ships do and allows for viewing into the cabins from the glass elevators. Can anyone tell me if this to be true on this ship, as this would make me uncomfortable and I will make another choice?

I have come here first as it is better to know than to book and find out.

We are 3 Star Mariners with Holland, so have sailed with them before but not had to make this kind of choice previously.

Thank you, in advance for any help you can give me.

  3. What a wonderful pictorial adventure posting. My husband and I are on the Legend back to back, Panama Canal from San Diego this November and then continuing on the Southern Caribbean route for 26 days of cruising.

I so enjoyed your food pictures and especially the menus. As I was reading I mentioned some of the menu items to my husband and he was very excited about some things he enjoys. We always eat in the main dining room for most all of our meals and I too am hoping they put back eggs benedict on the menu, as that is a favorite of mine as well.

I have to say from start to end it took me three hours to read your review, but I just couldn't stop until I was finished. I'm so glad I found this today when you had completed it.

Thank you for also describing the Diamond Lounge, as we are Diamond cruisers with Royal Caribbean, but our last two cruises have been in full suites, so we enjoyed the Concierge Lounge, but knew this time we would not have that priveledge.

However on the second leg of our journey we will become Diamond Plus, so I'm hoping we might be able to accend to the Concierge Lounge once again. If not, I'm sure the Diamond Lounge will suffice.

Thank you so much, once again for taking your time to share with all of us, as I know it is very time consuming. I have saved your post, so I can refer to it as our cruise gets closer for reference.

  4. I too started reading this at the start and all I can add is BRAVO, BRAVO, as I stand and applaud you and all your family. However I shed a tear or three with everyone else that we will have to wait until your next cruise upcoming to once again have this much reading entertainment.

Tracy, to you, congratulations on your upcoming new career. Even though Mike thinks you look good in white, I think you will look just as striking in that red uniform!

  5. Just love your early morning pictures of Grand Cayman, and especially the one of the biscuits and gravy, as I am also a fan of that breakfast, but it is rare to find on ships. They usually have them one day of the cruise in the buffet and I always miss that day.

I am so glad you are going to be the "roving diner". Such a good way to meet others.

I read your thread several times a day just to see if you have posted anything else. Maybe you should ask if they have a cheap back to back, so you could stay on for another 7 days, just to appease those of us who read your thread everyday. :)
