I buy ginger anti nausea gum called "sea band" at walgreens. it works wonders. also, a jar of ginger from the grocery store is handy to have. If they get sick on the cruise, call down and ask for green apples and saltines. that's what the crew uses and they will send that to your room.

Ardastra Zoo and Gardens is awesome. You can take a cab there and can walk right up to most of the animals.

I'm going on the March 27th sailing. I've been told that captain's nights are on day 2 and 7 (both at sea days). I have been on 8 day cruises before and I think it was days 2 and 6, but it may vary on the 2nd one depending on if you are in port or at sea.
Camp Carnival is typically open for early dining if you want your children to go to the buffet with the group. I have twins and they eat with us in the dining room and then we take them to camp shortly after 7 each night because they are picky eaters and I'm afraid they won't eat anything good for them much like they do at lunch when they pick it out.
I will let you know updates, etc....when we return.

My husband watched it last year on NBC and is hoping to watch it again this year. It's the Winter classic outside game.

Just off the Grandeur this morning...crack in deck 10 on two different spots. Not going to fix until May when they go to Bermuda. Part of deck roped off, not a big deal. Norovirus was up to 140 ppl yesterday with more ppl being over it. They pretty much shut down a lot of stuff bc of it...kids club, chili cook off, etc... We had a wonderful cruise. Cruise Director is best I've ever had...my 19th cruise.

I've done it...have twins and they loved it. Get the bus pass and take it there...you can the loop on the bus and see the entire island. Also, make a stop at Shelby (or Shelly) bay beach. They have a playground and nice beach for children.

Really enjoyed your review! You should write a cruise book based on your travels. I enjoy hearing about the Andrew and his shenanigans. I stumbled upon your March review before our April cruise and was happy to stumble upon this one before our cruise again in two weeks. It's really nice seeing it all again before we go! I think you would miss the Andrew...I'll pray that he gets a long weekend sometime this year and is able to go on a 4 or 5 day with you.

I have 5 year old TWINS who love cruising and will be going on their 8th cruise next month. They were 21 months on the first one. We have sailed on NCL, Costa, MSC, Holland and Carnival with them, no Disney yet. The pack and plays are a tight squeeze especially with twins, but it's ok. We never had a bad time or regretted our decision about going. Here are some suggestions that have worked for us...Take a blow up pool to put in the shower for baths bc it is hard in those stand up showers and you can take the pool with you on deck and let the baby splash, etc...in their own little pool. I don't know if he's potty trained or not, but babies that are not potty trained are not allowed in the pools. Take an umbrella stroller for the ports and leave that giant one at home...the umbrella stroller fits nicely in the closet or under the bed. I don't recommend the kids club until about age 3, that's just a personal decision I have about strangers watching my children and the twins not being able to tell us everything in detail until about that age...with that said, the twins love the kids clubs, we have never had any problems with any of them. If you are going to eat in the dining rooms and most ppl like to, I would suggest a DVD player. It's not a practice we use often, but when dinners are two hours, toddlers have a hard time sitting still. The dining room is usually loud enough so that you won't bother anyone. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions. Don't worry about what other ppl think of you taking your child on your family vacation! He won't be the only child on board, and you will have more fun on a cruise than sitting at home.
