Presumably you are booking for a cruise. For parking, the companies usually charge for 8 days for a 7-night cruise because you are there on part of day 1 and part of day 7. This doesn't seem fair but that's how it is. 🙂

So, given that, it would seem to make sense to book for earliest entry and latest departure, rather than your estimated times, as it costs no more to do so?

  2. I got the impression from the Wilson booking website that you have to book the number of different part or full days you will be in a carpark, rather than elapsed time.

ie if you booked for entry at 2pm Sat and departed the next day at 1pm that would count as 2 days parking, not 1. Even though you only parked for 23 hours. Can anyone confirm this?

Can anyone tell me what is the normal price of a Deluxe Beverage package per day?

Received an email offering a special deal of 50% off the second package.  Based on the "discounted" Deluxe Beverage package price currently shown on the RCL website (AUD$92pp/day) this means AUD$92 + $46 = $138 + 18% gratuity = $163 per day for a couple, or $81pp.

This doesn't sound like much of a bargain or have cruise line Beverage packages gone up alarmingly since Covid?

I think Australian prices include the gratuities. On the downside I think the price is AU$92 EACH as the discount already reflects 50% discount for second person. "BUY ONE, GET ONE 50% OFF (PRICE REFLECTS DISCOUNT)"

  4. Great for attracting money into Brisbane for infrastructure and jobs. Will help with Covid recovery.

Over the next decade we now have at least the following projects around the city core:

    - Queens Wharf including the heritage precinct, the Neville Bonner bridge, a public Sky Deck, the Integrated Resort and the new Dorsett, Rosewood and Ritz-Carlton hotels + two other international brand hotels

    - Brisbane Live concert venue (Boondall replacement at Roma Street)

    - Cross River Rail

    - Brisbane Metro

    - Victoria Park development

    - Kangaroo Point Bridge

    - Gabba rebuild

    - Olympics!!

  5. Someone had better have a word to Tom Tate the Re-elected Mayor of the Gold Coast. He has the Cruise Terminal on The Spit at the top of his to do list in today's Sunday Mail.

I think it is on the ocean side, a pier, rather than in the spit itself. The state govt rejected the spit option. If it gets up it will only be a stop over port, whereas the new Brisbane port will be a full service deep water port that hosts, refuels, restocks etc the mega liners. It will provide a home port for large ships with easy access to the South Pacific and PNG/solomons areas. Each terminal will serve a different purpose.

  6. Great review Connie, thank you !

Like the other people commentating I also couldn't help but think what a great lady you are.

Your photos of Cairns reminded me of our families holiday there about 10 years ago. One of our favourite places and will go back. It's great to get a dive boat recommendation and your advice about the camera hire.

Here's some snaps I took at the time that I still look at fondly:

  7. No affiliation but for Brisbane I would recommend a top rated Bed & Breakfast like this one (or similar):

    http://www.lucerne.net.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6&Itemid=6

(Their website says from roughly $US135 per night and discounts for 3 or more nights)

In excellent more interesting inner city location rather than CBD and gets great reviews on tripadvisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Hotel_Review-g255068-d642564-Reviews-Lucerne_on_Fernberg-Brisbane_Queensland.html

My parents stayed there and really liked it. The rooms are in buildings separated from the main house so more private than a normal B&B.

Another I like the look of which is in an even better location is The Collingwood but it looks like it may be more expensive: http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Hotel_Review-g255068-d1772269-Reviews-The_Collingwood-Brisbane_Queensland.html

  8. Sorry to be sharing so much, BUT, the hits and good info keeps flowing along for New Zealand. NBC's Today Show just had a super nice segment by Ann Curry being in New Zealand and doing lots on how the Hobbit and other Peter Jackson films were made so beautiful in NZ. Lots of nice, exciting visuals, insights, info, etc.

Here is the video link to that 4 minute, 41 second show segment feature NZ, Peter Jackson movie making, scenic areas there, etc.
