At long last RCCL has announced the Signature event Cruises as September 1...8..15 ..23 out of BAYONNE! On the Symphony. We like that ship, but the air fare to Newark is just too much. We would have done it anyway, but we would have to change so many cruises that it simply is not worth the trouble.

We left our fall cruising schedule open in anticipation of this cruise, with fingers crossed that it would be out of Florida. Sigh. Now we'll have to price out flights and one night pre-cruise hotel, and see if it's worth it.

  2. We sailed on Adventure twice in April. The ship is in good shape and easy to get around because it's not too big. We found the crew to be very friendly.

The casino, however, has the most machines per square foot than I've ever seen on a cruise ship. During peak times some of the aisles are impossible to go through. There is a path through the casino that's wide enough for a wheelchair or scooter, but it's not marked. The good news is that your wife will be able to play slots in the casino as long as she sticks to the ones that are easier to get to.

  3. Ship - Adventure of the Seas

    Deck - 12

    Stateroom # - 1880

Stateroom Category – Spacious Panoramic Ocean View

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – N/A

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - N/A

    Was wind a problem? - N/A

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No

Any other comments? - This is a large ocean view cabin with floor to ceiling windows that let in lots of light. The cabin also has a table and two chairs by the window. We were able to comfortably store a mobility scooter in the cabin.

  4. Ship - Adventure of the Seas

    Deck - 7

    Stateroom # - 7382

Stateroom Category – Spacious Ocean View

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – This is the last cabin on the starboard side just before the aft balcony cabins. The hallway was very quiet. There was some noise from the rear thrusters when docking.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No, but it is located quite a distance from the mid elevators. If you have mobility issues this may not be a good location for you.

Any other comments? - This is a large ocean view cabin with a large round window that lets in lots of light. We were able to comfortably store a mobility scooter in the cabin. There is also plenty of room in the hallway to maneuver the scooter into and out of the cabin.

Their lasagna has always been yuck. The meat in it is more like dogfood than good beef.

I totally agree. My husband ordered it on Italian night. I tried a bit of it and we both agreed it tasted terrible. They should just make a meat, cheese and marinara sauce lasagna.

  6. Yes, you have $750 FP for your cruise. Congrats! It should be automatically loaded into your account when you board the ship. If it's not there, go to the cashier and tell them your FP is missing. Bring the docs from your screenshot in case you need to prove you have FP.

Your FP can be accessed when you insert (or tap on some ships) your SeaPass card in the machine. The host or cashier should have a small card explaining how to access it. You can transfer as much as you want. If you transfer $100 but only play $20 and cash out, your actual winnings (if any) will be paid out on the slip and the rest of the FP ($80) goes back to the FP in your account.

Still not able on my laptop. And I'd rather not change the PW in case that doesn't work. Of course I want to get into my cruise since Hideaway Beach just dropped in price!

Both of us had to change our passwords before we could get in on the laptop and app.

I am still a bit confused on the Haven itself.  It looks like the cabins are all over the ship.  (we were looking at an aft penthouse)  Is there an area with cabins in the Haven?  I imagine this must be like deck 17 on Oasis.

There are cabins in the Haven complex. These are usually more expensive than the ones outside the complex (the forward and aft suites). It looks like deck 16 on Breakaway has the cabins inside the Haven.

You might also post over on the NCL board for specifics on the Breakaway Haven.

  9. We've stayed in the Haven twice, most recently on the Escape in January. Never stayed in a fulll suite on Royal, so I can't really give you a comparison.

The Haven complex is accessed via your keycard. Only Haven guests have access to this area. Loyalty tier does not get you access. There are suites within the Haven complex as well as ones outside (forward and aft suites on various decks). All suites come with a butler.

The Haven restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Unfortunately, the menus do not change during the cruise. You have your own bar, pool, hot tubs and sundeck. I believe the Breakaway has a retractable roof over the pool so you don't have to worry about inclement weather.

The Haven concierge can handle entertainment and dining reservations. They will also escort you off the ship on port days, bypassing the long lines. For theater shows they will escort you down early giving you first pick at the seats (there is also a Haven seating section if you want to sit there).

It's a great experience. The Haven always sails at full capacity, but it never feels crowded (unlike the rest of the ship).

  10. My husband uses a mobility scooter too. We use the Cruise Deck Plans website to figure out which cabins have the sofa near the door.

Go to https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/ships/Icon-of-the-Seas and navigate to Deck 9. Find the nearest connecting cabins. Cabins 9728 and 9730 are listed as connecting. For connecting cabins, the one on the left has the sofa near the balcony and the one on the right has the sofa near the door (your desired configuration). Your cabin 9732 is next to 9730, so it will have the sofa near the balcony, which is not what you want. Sometimes there are photos and videos of the cabins, but Icon is new so not many are available yet.

Since the cabins alternate configurations, you can pick out which ones should have the sofa near the door. Before reserving a cabin I will do a mock booking on Royal's site to see which cabins are available then identify specific cabins with the desired configuration.

    Hope this helps.

hmm, Independence is there with Icon on April 26th.  Unless you mean your sail date is the 26th and you're with them on May 3rd?   Be warned, they finally added in our options for excursions at Coco Cay--and because Icon had been the only one there, most things are filled.  And the ones that are not, are very expensive. I know someone on Icon for that week so asked them if they could share what the pricing is for the same day we are all there.  They have the Hideaway day pass available to them for $28.99 with a 'regular price' of $39, but we have it offered to us for $65.99.  And so on.  Someone in my roll call called Royal this morning to ask about that and the rep told them "Because people on Icon paid so much for for their sailing, we are giving them a break on pricing for Coco Cay'.  And I thought I had heard it all.....that rep is out of their mind, but whatever.  Oh, and my Hideaway day pass for the week prior was only $20.99 with a 'regular price' of $29.   You'd think we lost Labadee (totally understandable) and are now give Icon's 'leftovers' for Coco Cay, that WE should be the ones getting a break.  Sigh....

Yes, we sail from Port Canaveral on Apr 26 and we are at Cococay on May 3rd. I'm not surprised that we'll get Icon's leftovers. Who knows when they'll get around to adding the Cococay excursions, but with pricing like that I think it will be a "stay on the ship day" for us.

  12. My husband uses a Pride GoGo Sport scooter on cruises. It's narrow enough to fit through the doorways on Royal Caribbean ships. It's the same model of scooter that Scootaround rents at the ports.

The hallways on the older ships are narrow and it can be a bit challenging to get the scooter maneuvered into the cabin. The newer ships have wider hallways and the doors are inset somewhat making it much easier to drive the scooter into the cabin.

If you are booking a suite, you should have plenty of room to store the scooter in the cabin. We typically book balcony cabins and make sure we select a cabin where the bed is by the balcony door and the sofa is next to the bathroom. We park the scooter next to the sofa, which leaves enough room to walk by it to the bathroom and/or out the cabin door. If you get a cabin with the bed near the bathroom, it may be very difficult (or impossible) to get the scooter around the foot of the bed over to the other side of the cabin.

RCCL.... We are the same (wife)prime &  me choice. Just did a B2B 9 day and 5 day. We tried to use all 4 certificates (2 of mine and 2 wifes) from both cruises to book a new one... no luck. We were only able to use the 2 from 1 cruise...not both. It is BS as far as I'm concerned.

    Jim & Cathy

The instant rewards certificate terms state that you are only permitted to combine certificates earned on the same ship and sail date. You have two sailings, so you should have been able to combine the two earned on your 9-day cruise for one free cruise, and the two earned on your 5-day cruise for another free cruise. Did you and your wife each have two certificates posted to your Club Royale account after you got home?

Does anyone know if  you can combine points, Lets say husband and wife. My wife is prime with 4200 pt, I'm still choice with about 2000. Also shouldn't she get a "free" cruise. She became prime 7/2023, but still no offers for a free cruise just $ off. Thanks for any info.

She will get her free Prime cruise after the current evaluation period ends on March 31st. The offer code typically shows up on the Club Royale site around the second week in April.

Any instant reward offers earned on a particular cruise are tied to the points earned on that cruise. It doesn't take into account your current tier status. You typically get dollars off up to 1200 points earned.

Mail offers lately have been for a complimentary room for two (sometimes for one with a discounted rate for two). Sometimes the room is only a guarantee. The type of offer and cabin category seems to vary with how much you've been playing.

You can't combine points after they are earned, but two people can play on the same account at the same time to earn points on one account. This is advantageous when one person has already made it to Prime and wants to help the other get to Prime. Talk to the casino host at the beginning of the cruise to get an additional card for use in the casino.

  15. And when you debark, the drop off is outside of the terminal. Someone from Scootaround is supposed to be there early, but sometimes they're not. One time we had to leave the scooter outside with the key in the back pouch. We got a text later saying they retrieved it. Make sure you ask about drop off when you pick it up, in case they change the procedure.

Thanks. In the past my wife has had wheel chair assistance from inside the terminal right up to the pub. I guess she won't get that assistance anymore.

Same with my husband. He used to have to wait in the terminal for a crew member to take him onto the ship and up to lunch. With the scooter there's no more waiting.
