  1. It was HORRIFIC. It barely worked. It took some time to get our money back as well to the point where we no longer get Internet onboard anymore.

Sounds like the speed we had on Rhapsody, thanks for your reply

^ just realize that's quite variable and should be much better in general on an O3B equipped ship.

If we were to believe the products (ie surf and stream) Royal sells, one would think all ships have O3B. And we all know Royal never sells something if they can’t deliver... [emoji6][emoji23]

  2. Thanks for asking this question.

I was on Rhapsody out of Venice in 2016 and will be sailing on the Brilliance this summer out of Amsterdam.

While on the Rhapsody I visited speedtest.net and had 800mS latency ping with under a Meg download speed. That was with Surf and Stream also. Not much "streaming" with that slow of speed.

Not even much surfing on Rhapsody either, unless you had a surfboard.... [emoji6]

  3. Brilliance should be similar to Rhapsody.

I've recently heard that it does not look like there will be any more new O3b (higher bandwidth on the newest ships) deployments to older ships in the near future.

Thanks, Bob. I’ll spend my money somewhere else, like buying a second Ixpand for my ipad and store a ton of movies on there. And download like crazy on netflix and amazon prime before leaving. So happy we can now use our 4G for free anywhere in Europe.

  4. If you are from the UK you could check out flights from London Gatwick on Norwegian Air. I flew with them last year for a one-way to Orlando. Their prices can not be beat, cheap enough to add an extra bag and if you book early enough and snatch an exit seat you'll have tons of legroom. The only downside is the entertainment system, choices are pretty poor. What I usually do is check prices for the same period, a year earlier, so I have an idea how much the flight will cost. Enjoy your crossing.

  5. I have the Canon SX60 as we are Canon family. Here is the link to Amazon for it. I bought mine on sale directly from Canon when they had a refuribished sale prior to Christmas couple years ago. Take a look at the Panasonic zoom as well as they get good reviews.

Thanks a lot. I think I already looked at it [emoji846]

  6. Hi, Cindy,

How are you? It is good to talk to you once again.

Yeah, I started this trip report on New Year’s Day and just prodding along at my usual snail pace.

Thanks as always for the kind words. I upgraded my cell phone just prior to the cruise so I think some of the night pictures are more clear compared to the prior report. Amazing how great these phone cameras are like these days.

I now realize many people don’t sleep on the long flights. I need to invest some money on a good soft eye shade before I do another red eye flight across the country.

Doing great, thanks. Seems you and the family are too. But the boys are getting bigger each time. Hoping our paths will cross on a ship some day.

You mention a 60x zoom camera. Which one do you use? I have an SLR but thinking of investing in a good compact one. And yes, cell phones are amazing!

I have an amazing eye shade, very tick and fluffy by eagle creek

  7. I can’t believe I didn’t see your review earlier. Someone must have hit me on the head. As always Harry, you put a grin on my face quite often. And your pictures are truly gorgeous!

I am sorry to say that sitting next to me on the plane wouldn’t have done any good for your beauty sleep. Unless I have 3 seats for myself (it happened once) and can lay down, I can not sleep on the plane. So my monitor would have kept you awake. But not as much as the loud and obnoxious idiots that talked all the way from New York to Paris on my last TA flight, and did very loudly!

Thank you for sharing with us and for an awesome read!

  8. H10 London Waterloo is amazing. Rooms are not big,but very comfortable. The best thing about this hotel is the breakfast buffet. The best I ever had. It’s also pretty close to Waterloo station.

You could also check out Premier Inn. Reasonably priced and they have hotels all over the city (even in Southampton)

  9. Are you one of those peeping toms -- going up to the rail and leaning over to look to see what the other folks are doing on their balcony? We had one of those on a TA and felt like we couldn't even get dressed without closing the curtains.

I most certainly am not. I am shocked you even asked. [emoji33][emoji33][emoji33][emoji33][emoji33] Ever been on the hump? Enough said.....
