  1. I used to wear suits all the time.  I’m retired now and don’t even have a suit, dress shirts or ties anymore.  My wife wants me to buy a suit, but buying one just for cruising makes no sense to me. Dockers and polos are the norm now for eating out.    I’ll probably buy a few dress shirts and ties for the cruise, but will probably opt out of a suit.

  2. Prices have really sky rocketed in the past few months.  I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase the drink package for 55.99 for my upcoming  cruise.  With gratuity it is 66.07 per day.

If the price were higher I might not get it, but the flexibility and the all-inclusive feeling is a big plus.

With the current cost of drinks it would take 4 to 5 alcoholic drinks per day to break even at the price we got.    Adding in four to six bottled waters, Diet Coke, fresh juice, a beer here and there and specialty  coffees and the number for us goes down to three or four per day.  It could even be two and we could still break even.

One  13.00 drink is 15.34 with gratuity.

This would more than break even and does not include any cocktails.

Fresh orange juice or a mimosa at breakfast.

Get a few bottles of water each after breakfast.

Specialty coffee mid morning or a smoothie in the Solarium

A glass of wine with lunch

Several sodas and more waters in the afternoon.  Maybe a beer or two.

A couple of glasses of  wine at dinner.

We have taken on soda and water before and frankly it is a chore that I can do without.  I’m on vacation and want to relax.  Having the package helps me do that.

Thank you so much for doing this! These lives are getting me pretty pumped even though our Ovation cruise is over a year away. 😉

If anyone onboard gets a chance to check: could you verify that you're able to access the cabin area of deck 13 from the lower level of the Solarium, through the "hidden" hallway? I read somewhere that not all Quantum ships do that, but I'm not sure I trust the source. 🤨

Thank you and have a wonderful time!!

Never heard of this, but I would like to know also.  We are on deck 13 in July..

  4. I’ve used it many times . If I have any left over I cash it out.  It’s great for drinks over the limit, buying a bottle of Duckhorn Merlot 😀or buying gifts or pictures.  I have 1,000.00 on my July Ovation cruise and with a suite, concierge lounge across , the drink package  and unlimited dining I probably won’t use all of it.

My husband and I had a Seattle weekend stay early March (2022).  While we stayed at the Westin, which was very nice, we had breakfast at the Mayflower's Andaluca Restaurant both Saturday and Sunday.  The food was great and the service was outstanding.  The price was quite reasonable with breakfast entrees $15-$17.  Saturday evening we met a friend at the Mayflower's bar, Oliver's, had a couple of cocktails and ordered a quick dinner from the bar menu (a sandwich for me and  Cioppino for them which was on their fresh sheet.

So, even if you don't stay at the Mayflower, do check out Andaluca's and Oliver's.

That is the plan.  It looks like Andaluca served dinner a few years ago.  I wonder if it was a Covid casualty.

The Mayflower is a good hotel at a more reasonable price than many downtown.  Its 1 block from the Westlake Center where there is a light rail station as well as the monorail for quick trips up to the Seattle Center/Space Needle and just a 4 block walk to Pike Place Market. It gets mentioned, and recommended frequently, by locals over at Trip Advisor.

    Thank you

  7. I plan on posting a trip report.

I think the price is the same both ways.

We only booked the return since we are arriving a few days early and taking the light rail from the airport to our downtown hotel.  The cost is only $1.00 each since we’re both seniors.

  8. We have a 1:20 Departure this July after our Ovation sailing .  I always worry about being on time, but don’t think I will have any problems.

We plan to use the free Port Valet to have our large suitcases sent to the airport and self depart with our carry on’s.

I’ve arranged with Seattle Express at $15.00 each for the two of us for transportation to the airport.

On our arrival the previous week we’re taking the light rail ($1.00 senior rate) to the downtown Mayflower Hotel, which is right next to the Westland Station.  We’ll take a cab yo the pier from the hotel.

1804 and 1854 are rather unique.
They were originally a family panoramic ocean view - not a suite.
They were later changed to the Panoramic Suite with the same perks as a Junior Suite and subsequently upped to full suite benefits.
Oddly, the grats are still charged at $14.50 like a JS and you can still book with a refundable deposit unlike full suites.

The only suite “downside” is that they don’t have a fancy bathroom with a tub - just the tube shower like non suite cabins.

On our upcoming Navigator sailing we were charged the suite rate of $17.50 for room 1854.

Do you know if this works for lunch on port days?  On their website it specifies that the dining plan covers you for lunch on sea days but I feel like I have read reviews of people using it on port days for lunch.

The unlimited is good any time they are open and they are both open during lunchtime.

On embarkation day, usually Chops, Jaimie’s/Giovanni’s and Johnny Rockets are open for lunch. On port days none of the specialty restaurants are open for lunch, depending on the ship, I think JR opens around 3pm.

JR is included in the UDP.  Playmakers, I think you get a $10 credit. Cannot remember the exact amount.

Playmakers and Johnny Rockets have a $20.00 credit on Navigator.
