Not correct. The inaugural season was actually 1988-90. I sailed on the Westerdam in February of 1989 and it had not been stretched at that point yet.

On some of the ships there are signs that say "no jogging" on the promenade deck. Not sure which, but I recall seeing it...

The Eurodam is 3 laps to the mile and the signs say "No Jogging".
