  1. For those who did not read my post fully, I am not concerned about not having a cabin. I am just morbidly curious about any of those who this might have happened to and looking for stories, just for fun. There was someone on a Facebook thread in a Princess group who said this did, in fact, happen to them, and they had to wait until everyone boarded before they were assigned a cabin. I was just curious how often this happened (I assume not often, but I also assume it *does* indeed happen on occasion!) :)

  2. Hi, cruising the Med on the Royal on 8/26. We have a balcony guarantee, with no assignment yet, 18 days out. I'm not surprised, as I've been reading on many FB threads about folks getting the infamous "move over" offers--very GENEROUS "move over" offers for this and adjacent sailings. So, I am not expecting a cabin assignment until very close or until day of sailing.

That said, for my own curiosity...has anyone actually gotten to the pier without a guarantee assignment and been told, "I'm sorry, we actually don't have a room for you!" :o:o What did they do? I'm assuming that there will always be at least one cabin that doesn't make it to the pier on time for check-in and look, there's a cabin...one can only hope it's an amazing suite (yeah, right)...but anecdotally, I am just wondering how many out there have experienced something like this. (And no, I truly do not expect this to happen to me.)

  3. I read on a review from a Med cruise last summer that the formal nights were nights 3 and 6 on a 7 night cruise. Perhaps they will follow suit this summer?

Thank you! That seems to make sense.

  4. It should be listed in your itinerary. I'm sure the "undress" crowd will chime in.(they ALWAYS do!)It is more enforced in the Mediterranean than many other places. Just bring some clothes that you would expect to wear at a wedding(as a guest)or how you might wear to a nice dinner & a show.

Oh yes, I've been on many cruises. I'm not concerned about what to wear. Our personalizer specifies two formal nights, but not which two. I ask because we have many late port calls, so I'm trying to arrange tours and such so that we are not out so late in the port that we miss formal activities, as we do enjoy them.

  5. Hi, we will be on Royal Princess for a 7-night Greek Isles cruise in August. It's a Saturday-Saturday cruise, and there is only one sea day (Tuesday). Given those parameters, which two days do you think will be formal? I assumed the sea day would be one, but maybe not...? Any ideas?

  6. Check the your personalizer - you will find the acceptable boarding times. I boarded the royal in Athens last june and I believe the latest time to board was 1900 (7PM)...So 5 should be just fine.

I am also an early boarder and boarding at 2pm was a little freaky - but I had my beer and settled right down :)

Thank you!! Now I see where it says check-in between 12-6. Whew, we should be just fine! Realistically, we should be at the pier no later than 4, but having that extra two hours is a nice safety net in the event of something going wrong.

  7. Watch for the mini fruit Pavlova's in the International Café and their strawberry meringues. They sometimes serve them in the "Dessert Room" in the spectacular Horizon Court Buffet. You can also use your coffee card in that room for specialty coffees to go with your dessert. Also check out the gelato sundaes in the Gelato Shop by the chocolate shop and Vines on deck 5. You can get a big sundae with only one punch on your coffee card. There is a fluffernutter sundae that is to die for - I've taste tested it many times.

Am I understanding correctly that you can use a coffee card punch for a gelato sundae???

  8. Hi, after a few years away from cruising, I'm back! :) We are sailing on Royal Princess RT from Athens in August...now for my question:

Sailaway time from Athens is listed at 7:00 p.m. We have arranged a culinary tour that day in Athens from 9 am - 3 pm, with intentions of grabbing a cab immediately after the tour and heading to the port (which I believe is roughly 30 minutes away, in traffic). I figure at the VERY worst, we would be at the port for check-in by 5:00 p.m.

Is this too late? I've always been an "early bird" on embarkation day, and have always gotten to the port before noon, even when we've had to wait to board. This will be a first for me, as we want to maximize our time in Athens...but not at the expense of possibly being too late to check-in and board. I've scrutinized Princess' website, but unless I'm missing it, I don't see something that says you must be at the pier 2 hours before sailaway, or some such time. Any experience with this? If needed, we will cancel the tour--but I just wanted to get more knowledge about the time frame required to be checked in. Thanks!

  9. I'm having a hard time finding the answer to this, either on here or on Mr Sancho's website directly...

If you book the AI package, is the aqua park included or not? I realize it is on the opposite side of the beach from the AI section...so if it is included, how does it work? If it is not included, are AI guests able to pay the upcharge to use the aqua park?

    Thanks!

  10. Thank you all for the information on this tour! Do you think it would be appropriate for a 4-year-old who knows how to swim?

Ron_L, we are planning the same Summit cruise you went on, and I am trying to decide if my daughter would enjoy it. We would bring a regular life vest that fit her, so I wouldn't be relying on the belts.

  11. Please forgive me, but I tried combing the C&A Society website for the answer to this, but couldn't find it...

I have completed one cruise on RCCL, back in 2007. At that time, I was enrolled in the C&A Society, and I seem to remember there being some perks, even after one cruise.

We are about to book IOS, and I have been trying to look up my C&A number, to no avail (I will have to end up calling, I'm sure...). However, I noticed on the member benefits chart that "gold" benefits now start after 3 cruises? Is this correct, or am I misreading it? Has it changed since 2007?

(So, in other words, the only "benefit" to me getting my member number is to get credit for this upcoming cruise to eventually count towards gold?)

    Thanks!

  12. We pre-booked the Atlantis Beach Day with Majestic Tours last year on our cruise. It was easy and no-hassle. The only advantage to booking with Majestic is that they have pre-purchased their day passes from the resort, so you won't be turned away in cases of high occupancy. I believe it was $69/pp (adult), and included access to all the aquariums (The Dig and Predator Tunnel), all the buildings, the beaches, and lunch at one of the quick-service venues. The only thing it didn't include access to was the water park.

Edited: You take a taxi to/from Atlantis at your convenience, and pick up your day pass vouchers from the Majestic tour desk inside the Atlantis resort. There is a small tour office in the Coral Tower where all the tour vendors set up shop.
