  1. We are in a penthouse and have use of a laptop and/or Ipad. Does that come with its own wifi separate from the 1 device? For example, if I wanted to use the wifi on my personal iphone but then also have wifi for the laptop/ipad (only using the 1 free account), could I?

    Thanks!

  2. For Rome food - look up anything by Katie Parla and follow her directions. I'm also very into food and I never had a bad meal following her suggestions.

For Florence, you might also try the Mercato Centrale for lunch - they have a wide variety of excellent food available at reasonable prices.

I've had Da Michele in Naples - it is fantastic but do not miss Positano for pizza. There are some great places in Rome instead (Pizzarium or Da Remo).

  3. Hi - We are taking an Oceania Cruise this summer and will be in St. Tropez on a Sunday. Currently we have booked a peninsula of hill top villages tour of Gassin, Grimaud and Ramatuelle. All of them look lovely but I am concerned that because these are small towns there won't be much open on Sundays (even when I looked at St. Tropez there were quite a few things that appeared to be closed that day).

Another tour option includes time in Gassin only but combined with a visit to family run winery (instead of the 2 other villages). This I feel might be a good alternative because we can at least be guaranteed to get into the winery and 'do' something that day.

I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts or if anyone has any advice regarding Southern France on Sundays. Thanks!

  4. To be safe I wouldn't do anything earlier than 10. Termini is not close to the Vatican and it will take a while to get there. If you get to the Vatican early, you can always go to the gift shops outside or visit St. Peters before you do the museum. I would err on the side of late rather than early.

  5. Moonhearts -

When I was 18 I chose not to go on an escorted trip to Europe with my parents because I also thought it would be just older people I wouldn't have anything in common with. I greatly regret that now and wish I would have taken a (free) opportunity to travel to new places and experience things I had never done before.

You seem quite mature and thoughtful for your age. I really believe that if you look at the ports, you will be able to find many things that capture your interest and perhaps some activities geared towards teenagers. You can also use this cruise as an opportunity to get to know yourself and an older generation (or generations) and ask them about their life - I feel like with your positive and curious attitude you will have a great time. And the Greek Islands are insanely gorgeous - if nothing else you will have some Instagram photos that will make your friends jealous!

  6. Hi! I'm on the Sirena leaving out of Barcelona in July. Embarkation begins at 1pm and departure is at 11pm. Would we be OK if we boarded around 6 pm?

I assume we have to be on the ship no later than 9pm (not that we are going to push it that late, I'm just curious).

  7. Hi - The cruise listing states that disembarkation in Civitavecchia is at 8am. What exactly does this mean? Does it mean:

    1) The ship arrives at 8am in Civitavecchia

    2) All passengers will start leaving the ship at 8am

    3) All passengers should be off the ship by 8am

I know that the timing is contingent on Italian customs but I was just trying to get a general idea so that I could pick a shuttle booking time.

    Thanks!

  8. Hi Mura -

Yes, I can't imagine I will love everything that is recommended but I always try to ask people who are more knowledgeable than me for advice (since I haven't traveled on Oceania and a lot of you are returning cruisers). If I don't think I'll like it,I won't get it but if I hear a recommendation over and over again...well maybe there is something to it! Thanks again!

  9. Hi -

We plan on taking bus 112 from Eze to Monte Carlo this summer. I know they run fairly infrequently and I have found more older reports than newer ones.

    1) Can someone confirm that the you can catch the bus near the casino? According this schedule, that is the case: https://www.departement06.fr/documents/A-votre-service/Deplacements/transports-en-commun/112.pdf

    2) If the bus stop is at the casino, what is the best way to get from the cruise port to the casino?

    Thank you!

  10. Hi all -

I have looked through the previous posts but I'm hoping someone can clarify a few things for me since I'm new to traveling on Oceania. Thanks in advance.

    1) Can reservations be made in the Grand Dining Room? If so, can these be done online? If not, could our butler do them on board?

    2) How late does the Grand Dining Room stay open? When do they release their menus (since they change every day)?

    3) Since we have a butler, can we get food delivered to our room, even if it is midnight? (We have some late days in ports) Will we have a limited menu to choose from so late?

    4) And am I correct in that the Sirena only has 2 speciality restaurants - Tuscan Steak and Red Ginger?

    Thank you everyone!

  11. Hi OP - I'm on that cruise - please join us in the roll call listed above. We currently have a private excursion booked from Marseille with other couples on the roll call and are looking for 2 other people. Please take a look!

  12. Thanks again - and to everyone who recommended posting on the roll call, I have done that as well a couple weeks ago. There are only 3 of us currently who are on the roll call. I hope more people join as the cruise gets closer. Again, thanks to everyone who took their time to give advice. We are definitely looking into private tours in certain places where there is a lot to see (Provence, etc.)

  13. Hi all - First of all, I did try to look it up on the thread but I couldn't find answers to these questions. Any help would be appreciated as this is our first time on Oceania.

    1) On the regular shore excursions (not OE, OS, etc.) what is the average size of the group? I assume it is usually the size of a coach bus most of the time (holding about 50-60 people). I know this could change depending on the excursion but I'm thinking generally.

    2) Is there any way to find out the time of the shore excursions beforehand? I was just trying to plan on days that where we are in port for a long time but an excursion we are interested in is only for a few hours.

    3) I saw that some people were mentioning discounts on booking excursions? We get 6 free on our cruise but are considering booking some additional ones. Does anyone know about these discounts?

    4) Some people also posted about unlimited shore excursions? How might I get some more information on that?

Thank you everyone so much! Our cruise isn't until next summer but I want to plan as much as I can in advance. I'm looking at a few private tours for some of the busier locations we will be in. Thanks!
