  1. Managed to change all of tomorrow’s plans to today (minus 4 hours since we arrived at noon today vs the original 8am tomorrow) and had a great day in Hilo. Lots more chatter about this, including from our Uber driver and a tour guide today.

I’m looking at the NOAA charts that are publicly available for the Island of Kauai and I can’t find any restrictions or markings off the Na Pali coast about the 50 passenger/3000 yard zone. Now I’m curious. Does anyone know where this restriction comes from (State of Hawaii? Kauai County? NOAA?) and how it is communicated to mariners?

  2. Boarded Edge yesterday and Captain Matt announced at 930pm last night that today’s scheduled cruising of the Na Pali is cancelled due to “environmental restrictions.”  He didn’t elaborate but it didn’t take long to find the story on the news via google.

We will call on Hilo a day early for what was always scheduled as an overnight stay. We will then overnight in Kona which was not the plan.

Needless to say this has made for a scramble to change rental cars and tour reservations, not to mention losing out on seeing Na Pali.

3 weeks ago we were successful in a moveup bid from Concierge Class to a Royal Suite for a sailing one week from today! This will be our first suite experience ever on any cruise line.

So far, we've heard nothing from anyone regarding the perks or benefits that come with the RS.  Is there a way for us to email the shoreside concierge or do we keep waiting?  From reading this thread it seems like we should have heard from them by the 1 week mark.

Update on the above: we just weren't patient enough.  An email from the shoreside concierge was received this morning, 3 days prior to sailing.
