My husband and I just went in May (He's 42 and I'm 39) and we had a blast. Mix of ages everywhere and the piano bar was the busiest I've ever seen it. We plan on going again and taking our teenage kids.
We just walked around the tourist area in Juneau, rode a train in Skagway and went Salmon fishing in Ketchikan. So worth it!!
Thank you! Did you cruise with Carnival? If so, which ship and what port did you leave from?

We went in July 2016 and had a great time. There were a lot of teenagers (a major school group that was doing an awesome west coast trip of like 30 days!), but they were good, no real problems with them. Our tween son had enough people to hang with as well. We did an excursion in every port. We're a couple in our 40s (me) and early 50s (hubby).
I would read more on the Alaska board to get more info on ideas of what you want to do. Also, lots of people write reviews (I have mine in my signature).
Thank you so much!

Just a FYI you can’t hang anything on the doors with tape (carnival policy). It has to be command hook brand. The doors on the outside don’t do so well with magnets either but inside they are great.

It really matters when you go to Alaska. If its in the beginning or late season more older crowd. If you go between summer vacation time (June - Aug) its a mix of ages. Our first Alaska cruise, we went in July had great weather and a lot of kids with a good range of adults between 30 to 70.
We are booked for the last sailing this year and figure this will be more older crowd which will be fine with me. The beauty of Alaska is so breathtaking. and enjoyable which is probably why we are going back.
We are booked for June 2020 so that’s good to know!
Thanks!

Been to Alaska on both Carnival and Princess. Younger and more energetic crowd on Carnival. We had some great musicians on Carnival...….luck of the draw maybe. Food better on Princess.
The vast majority of people that go to Alaska go for Alaska. The beauty is beyond incredible no matter what ship you are on. If you are looking for entertainment you are probably wasting your money. Alaska cruises are not cheap.
On a scale of 1-10 I would rate an Alaskan cruise a 37...…..no matter what ship you go on. The show is Alaska, not the ship.
I do understand! I guess we are still pretty young (in my head at least) so we kind of wanted some people our age. We aren’t party people so that doesn’t bother me. I’m sure we will be fine!
Thanks for all the responses! I truly appreciate it!

We did it two years ago as a journey cruise and had a very nice time.
What age group did you notice more of on the ship? Did you happen to do any excursions?

If you’ve done an Alaskan cruise on carnival how did you like it? What age group would you say was more on the cruise? My husband and I are early 40s and are kind of scared of being bored out of our minds.
Thanks!

Let us know how it was. I’m curious to know if business has picked up. There were only about 25 cars in there the week I went. It’s such a great deal, I couldn’t believe how empty it was.
There still weren’t a lot of cars when we went but everyone that worked there was so nice. When we came back the line was short while other lines were long. Great service all the way around and will definitely be using them again!

Thank you for posting this! We just booked an Alaskan cruise for June 2020. I truly hope we aren’t bored to death, but I think it will be fun!

We are using Falstaff for our upcoming cruise this Saturday. I hope we like it as much as all of you.

At first I was upset because I really wanted to go to Jamaica! We were looking forward to it, but there is always a next time and I am happy about the on board credit and the 25% off the next cruise. It's like free money.

Our boys ages (18,16 and 15) along with our 8 year old (soon to be 9) little girl will be across the hall from us. She usually ends up in the room with us 98.9% of the time because the boys are always gone having fun. On our past cruises they have been next door to us.

I was wondering if this was worth it. I think I will go ahead and book it for my husband and I. We really need to relax and have fun this cruise. Thanks!

We are booked on Vista for June and we have two rooms as well on deck 6. One inside room and a balcony across the hallway.

If you'd like to see a little of what it's like--with a picture of the menu, here's a link to an "album" of our cruise with our granddaughter. Click on the blue words. The breakfast pictures are #174 - 187 feel free to skip the rest. If you want to see the pictures full sized, click on one and move forward by clicking on the arrow.
I loved your pictures! Beautiful family! And the shirts at the breakfast was a nice touch!

What age does it seem boring for the kids? I have an eight year old and would like her to experience it, but wondering if it's more for those that are smaller.

Are the parking spots very close together in this parking garage?

What parking site do you all still recommend now cruising out of Galveston for the first time?
Thanks!

Great information! I’m going to look into everything that’s been posted.

Great review! We are planning to cruise on Vista June 2019 as a graduation gift for our high school son. Very excited!

We have done both the Elation and the Magic. We did the Elation during the Thanksgiving holidays and it was nice. That cruise was just my husband and I. We did the Magic July of 2017 with our four kids and they loved it! If it’s just the hubby and I we would go with a smaller ship, but for more entertainment we would do the Magic over and over! We also did the Sensation with the kids and they loved it!

I'm following to see what someone says. We would love this take a longer cruise in the future with our young kids. We are fairly young too.

We were on the same ship at the same time and my kids 12 and 14 were always in their club. They had times posted on the sheet they gave you when you signed up. They always had something going on.
