Cabin Review Format
Cabin Number: 6024
Cruise Ship: Thomson Dream
Date of Cruise: 11/5/2013
Bed Formation: Double
Bath/Shower?: both, shower over bath
Adjoining Cabin?: No
Balcony?: No
Comment on the Size of the Cabin: Biggest cabin we've had on any ship
Comment on any Noise Issues: Slight noise from bow thrusters when manouvering in port. But nothing much
Comment on Storage Space: Triple wardrobe, 2 bedside cabinets, three drawers in dressing table, and a tall shelf unit. Fr the ladies, there is a shelf about 8 inches above the bottom of the wardrobe which makes it impossible to hang long dresses straight down.
Comment on the Bathroom: plenty of room, but no shelf under sink for storage of wash items
Any Other Comments?: We have sailed in this cabin in 2010, before the so called "Platinum Upgrade" and it was identical last month apart from the Flat TV and kettle.
Would You Recommend this Cabin?: Yes

Score out of 10: 10

We had 426 (see below) nice and quiet and near the lifts. My only problem was the misty window, but I have been told on here that it has been replaced. Can someone confirm that?
Â
Also it is a 4 berth, but the upper beds are tucked away. You could have it as two singles as that gives you a bigger floor area in the middle.
Â

Â
I don't know if you have seen this deck plan from when it was a Louis ship, it is clearer than the Thomson one :D

Â
Great deckplans Linda. Thank you. we had our inside plus as 2 singles last time and kept banging into wall when I turned over in bed. Next time I'll have the double and do with less floor space

Hi, we have been on Majesty and you definitely need a plus cabin. Either inside or outside. They give you more room than a standard inside and you get a fridge and more wardrobe space and floor space.

Glad you got there. They were very good.:)
Will see if my smilies work this time don't know why they came up on other post as d's wonder if it was because I didn't write anything. Who knows.
Â
this is silly Mary, not being able to mention T.A.'s as I've only got to pop over to the cruising bit of the social networking site, that must not be named, to find it lol :D
Â
Well done on getting a good price. Was looking at itinerary the other day and it looks fantastic.

Thanks Berwyn, it has worked. Now to have a look at the excursions and see if any are worth doing. Not sure about wandering about in Casablanca  Might need Kruzseeka's advice on that :)
Â
We wouldn't fancy going ashore there either. Not after Agadir :eek:. You know how I loved that place NOT.Lol. We're looking at fitting a 2nd cruise in in October 1of the choices is on P&O's Oceana that calls there too

Hi Berwyn,
Â
I would have booked with the TA, but when I phoned she said she was busy with a client and she would phone me back. Did she? What do you think? When I phoned the shop they said she had gone home  I had already phoned CD, so went ahead and booked with them.
Â
I shall have to get cracking sorting out my clothes. I have a new long dress from M&S, so expect everyone else will be wearing them (well not the men obviously ;))
Â
Do I use the same number then for "my thomson" (I want to look up trips) or will it not work if I have booked with CD?
Â
Your Thomson reference number should work fine. We booked with the T.A. and we had their ref no. and also the Thomson one on their paperwork that we used to book excursions online.
This is what excursion booking part of website says
Where can I find my cruise booking reference?
Â
This is the 3-8 digit number known as your 'Accommodation or Cruise Booking reference' on your holiday booking confirmation invoice or e-mail.
Â

Ah thanks jem. I thought that was what I had done, but I was trying to put in the number for my last holiday  I had printed off the wrong e-tickets
Actually it is a 6 figure number. Cruise Deals use different ref. numbers :)
Â
Dim or what - I need a holiday :D:D
Â
Â
Lol Linda DOH!! :D That's the beauty of using a T.A. She said "When you come in for your Euros bring your passports and I'll do it for you"
Â
Exciting now, only 11 days to go for you.
Delyth's already had her cruise clothes out and checked and is now upstairs going through all her jewellery.

Thanks Berwyn, was wondering why it was such a bargain, some dates you can get two weeks on IE for same as one week cruise and one week stay on the Dream.
Â
Never mind I never get a bargain lol :rolleyes:

Nothing so much wrong with her Vicki than the others, apart from the the informal bit. She was the largest ship of the Thomson fleet until Dream came along in 2010. She just needs a bloody good upgrade. Please excuse the language. We have had 2 good cruises on her.

Hi again ;) , im a Lincolnshire yellow belly so a bit too far south to be honorary Scott, what a shame :(
Â
Your not sad at all. We love Thomson too, they just have such a good all round product, and although we have tried the big new ships we prefer the smaller "proper"ship's .
We can only afford one a year but know we are lucky to have such fab holidays.
Â
Not tried the Escape yet, it's such a good price I wish it did east med as thats what we fancy next year, will def try it in the future though :)

Â
hi Vicki and all, coming in a bit late on this. But if you've done several cruises do not bother with Island Escape. She is fine as a starter ship for 1st time cruisers. And Ross Roberts the C. D. is great. But unless you are into totally informal cruising I would not go on her. We were on her for our 1st and 3rd cruise and the boys loved her. But we have outgrown her and moved on.

Hi Jan,
Â
Have you recovered yet? :D Will email you later :)
Â
Hi Berwyn,
Â
We went away with our son, daughter, son-in-law and grand-daughter to Spain in June - very nice, but as you say - nothing compares to cruising. It just gets a bit boring being in the same place! I've never been to the Alhambra or Granada although OH has. I really want to see it - must book another med cruise :D:D:D
Â
LOL Linda, you've got 3 lined up already I see. Might as well add another one on. :D
Â

Hi Berwyn. Not recovered yet, we've had the grandchildren for 2 days. Aargh!! Shattered!
Â
I have to go in and delete my countdown clocks. Lucky you going on Majesty, I've got a bit to wait yet. I'm sooo jealous.:):)
Â
Jan
Â
We have yet to haver the dubious pleasure of any of those yet and none on the horizon.
Â
It was a last minute thing, the Majesty cruise. And it's all Delyth's fault :D
We had a lovely hotel in Spain but after cruising she said she was fed up of being in the same place for the whole holiday.
We only went because we wanted to see Granada and the Alhambra and thought we'd get more time there on an excursion from a hotel than the ship.
Â

Mine have never been deleted automatically. I always have to take them off:confused:
Â
I always have to be different Linda :D
They just go on their own

Funny that, I was just passing Lush this afternoon. Perhaps you could explain what this product is and how to use it. Thanks.
Â
Would you be so kind as to cut down some of your countdown clocks. There is so much scrolling to do when there are a lot of them. They soon add up to half a page. My scrolling pad is getting worn out, lol. Thanks again.:):)
Â
Jan
Â
Hi Jan, don't know what's wrong with Aligarter's countdown clocks. Mine have always been wiped off automatically once we've sailed.
Â
You keeping OK? Only 5 weeks today till we're on Majesty :D:D

We are thinking we will probably either book on board or not bother at all. The main thing, for me anyway, is to see Venice and that was the attraction of this itinerary. I have to say I didn't expect that a gondola ride would be so expensive!
Â
I checked on Gondola rides booking sites and it's no cheaper booking through them. Cheapest was 31 Euro for gondola ride alone for a gondola with 6 in. Since we did it we have been back to Venice on cruises and done Venice on our own.
It was £25 each when we did it back in 2006 or 2007.
Â
Berwyn
-
The gondola ride may not be what you expect. Do a bit of research before booking that one.
Â
I see Thomson's offer the Venice excursion including gondola ride as one of the options. We did this from a hotel holiday with them on Lake Garda. The gondola had six of us in it and we enjoyed it. Not quite the romantic 2 of you and the gondolier that you might envisage but an enjoyable ride all the same. And at least we got on one at a reasonable cost to say we'd done it.

I'm going to bring my own soap this summer and see if that helps (and it likely won't be terribly hot in the British Isles!). This is a 12 day cruise so i really don't want to be sporting the rash for the last week - it looks like a bad case of body acne!
Â
you can say that again about the weather here. It's the start of the summer and the weather this weekend has been like a late autumn day. Cold, wet and windy Brrrr!!
Â
Good luck with sorting the rash. DW suffers with prickly heat rash but never had anything like you describe while cruising.

I went to Austria in the year before they went bust. My 1st holiday abroad that wasn't a school one. Things must have been starting to go wrong then.
Â
It was a great holiday apart from the fact that when I got to the hotel they were not expecting me. Luckily they had a lovely double room for me instead of the single I had booked.
Â
Berwyn

Thanks for that Berwyn. Lol, I meant the eggs you had ready to throw at our car.:D:D
Â
Jan
Â
Lol, i found a box of chocs we'd had for a present. So finally got my choccie fix.

PS Jan,
you might as well park outside the house. If you don't some other b***** will.

It's the same chain of resorts that we cruise and stayed in Turkey last year. Mix of nationalities and everything included with no wristbands or drunks. Tried the archery, mountainbiking and Tai Chi in Sharm but probably a bit hilly in Fuerta for cycling. I don't do hills, lol, gears are a mystery to me.
Â
That Zoo site looks good and thanks to grannypops for that. I'll have a good look later on.
Â
Sun still out. What is the Victorian Extravanganza? I think I'll go and park outside your house, lol.:D Put the eggs away Berwyn.:D
Â
Jan
Â
What eggs?? Not had any here, nor hot cross buns :(:(
We've been doing it for 25 years, they come from all over for it.. they shut half the streets down and all the shops and businesses get involved. Dress up in Victorian Costume, we have funfairs and steam engines and those pipe organs on the streets. They also have a vintage vehicle exhibition too.

Have a look there.

Well, that was nice. The sun came out nice and hot so I've been in the garden all afternoon while you two have been chatting. Saves getting a tan on holiday, only 41 days to go to Fuerteventura. Ta Dah!!:D:D Couldn't get a cruise to suit on the days we have off so it's a 5* AI.

Lovely, the only thing you'll miss is the rocking up and down from the waves

caves in Kopar

Hi, we did the caves as a ship's tour. You go in on a train and when there the caves are huge inside. No low ceilings. The walkway goes up and down but is flat concrete underfoot. there is a shortcut that goes through on the flat for anyone a bit less mobile who cannot manage the uphill bit.
