  1. Stockperks refused my stockholder onboard credit stating that my CRUISE had been a discounted price and if I had any questions to email Holland America. I contacted HAL and they ask for the proof of my stock ownership and they then gave me the SOBC. I was pleasantly surprised.....

The purchase price was not discounted other than being from an online TA.

Bad idea. We live in Vegas and no way would I want to be on I 15 going thru the desert areas with the potential for heavy rains. Flash flooding can happen in minutes and be deadly.

    Yes, this!!! Vegas resident also.

DO NOT drive from Vegas with all the rain that is forecast.

  3. I booked this Cruise yesterday: Zuiderdam, November 17th Panama canal sailing.  At that time, it required pre-testing to board and "fully vaccinated".... which was defined as having completed the first two shots. Well today, they came out with a new list for certain cruises which states that this Cruise now requires a booster (to be considered "fully vaccinated") if you original series is older than 5 months. 😠

    https://www.hollandamerica.com/content/dam/hal/inventory-assets/Health_Sanitation/2022/Enhanced-Protocols-0831.pdf

I do not want to get the booster.

My TA called to try to get a refund for me considering I just booked yesterday, however it's beyond the time frame to receive any type of refund. My TA was told she could call on Monday to try to get an exception but since Monday is a holiday it is it will now be Tuesday.

I am astounded that they are increasing vaccine requirements. ☹️

Apologies, just venting my frustrations. Thanks for listening.

I was considering purchasing 100 shares for the onboard credit, but most of my cruises lately have been booked with last minute deals a month or less in advance. If your cruise leaves before they get it approved, do you just lose it? I assume they aren’t going to send me a check after the fact.

I think I found the answer to my question on the website. It says it must be submitted four weeks prior to your cruise and cannot be used towards gratuities. I rarely purchase anything on board and planned on using it for gratuities. Sounds like it would not be worth it for me.

Thus far, mine has always gone primarily for gratuities. That rule has been around for a while but as far as I know it has not been followed. 😁

  5. Okay, I spoke with the Oceania rep that I originally booked the cruise with prior to transferring to my TA. She said that commencing travel means when you leave your home to travel to the ship ("getting on the plane" ... her words not mine). She put me on hold and spoke with upper management and they agreed with that statement. However, when I asked her if I could get that in writing in an email, she said she could not do that. She also asked the upper management about sending me an email but they said no, the verbiage is as written .... there are no other written statements.

Hopefully, this will be a moot point as well all test covid negative at the ship. 😊

    Hope this helps!  😂

  6. Has anyone been successful at having Oceania clarify their meaning of "commencing travel" in the following statement?

    BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
..... "Oceania Cruises strongly recommends all guests undergo a COVID-19 PCR test not more than 72 hours prior to commencing travel or a COVID-19 antigen test not more than 48 hours prior to commencing
    travel."

*** Does "commencing travel" mean 72/48 hrs. before we leave home, or before we board the ship???

    Thx much!

  7. I purchased August 21st cruise on Horizon with Carnival gift cards. Yesterday, Carnival agreed to refund 100% back to gift card or I could apply amount to future cruise.  I chose the gift card.

I am not willing to cruise if I am required to wear a mask. Thank you Carnival! I'll be back when the mask requirement is lifted. 😊

  8. Okay, so I just got off the phone with my TA who spoke to Carnival.  I was scheduled on August 21st on the Horizon, but I am not willing to wear a mask and cruise. Carnival will not give me a FCC, however they will give me a gift certificate for the full amount or I may apply the full amount to a future cruise. No FCC makes no sense to me but I'm happy with a gift certificate. 😊👍

    Hi guys,

I'm booked on to vista in April and have noticed that I can now book a pack and go rate for around $50 less than what I paid for early saver rate. So far I have spoken to two different people (as I wasn't sure I believed the first person) and they have both said that I cannot price match my Early saver rate against a pack and go rate. So is this 100% true or have I just been unlucky with carnival employees who I have spoken to?

You would probably be well served to start a new thread with your question instead of resurrecting a 7 year old thread.  Just FYI  🙂

  10. Someone will correct me if my memory is faulty ..... its been a couple of years since I played craps on a cruise.  Pay off odds r the same as land based casinos.  The odds behind the line, if I recall correctly are just single odds ..... maybe double odds but definitely not more than 2x odds.  Good luck!  (I played a few years back on Princess & then a few months later got a super cheap offer on a cruise as a:casino special".  I guess they thought I was a whale ... lol).

  11. We often use cruises as transportation. Last year we spent a few weeks in Spain then TA back to Florida. The year before was Italy then TA back. Often we can get the cruise on short notice for about the price of flights. Works out well for us. :)

  12. On our last cruise the maitre'd actually approached us & ask if we'd like to have a standing 6 pm reservation for the same time/table & companions for the remainder of the cruise. We happily accepted as we had been dining with the same two couples for a few nights as we all enjoyed each others company.

  13. No more free upgrades or very slim to none! You may, however, be offered an upsell, which is an upgrade for a fee. The only free upgrades now are within category (balcony to balcony). Princess has recently changed its policy to offer upsells rather than upgrades.

It still happens....Just received a free upgrade from inside to oceanview (UNobstructed) this week.

  14. There's a stop very close to the point where you walk out of Molo Manfredi.

The stop is on Via Porto, to reach it you walk out of the port exit (along Via Molo Manfredi) and make the first left you can. This will be either Via Molo Vecchio or the traffic circle at Largo Perri, it depends on the security and construction situation when you are there. Either way you'll make the next left onto Via Porto. The stop is just past the intersection of Via Porto and Via Molo Vecchio. The total distance is between 2/10ths - 4/10ths of a mile, depending on exactly where your ship is berthed.

    Exactly what I wanted! :)

& Thx to u also cruisemom....I've been reading alot of info from ur Pompeii posts. :)

3 ports done, 5 more to go....getting there.
