  1. In all this chatter about taking temps before embarkation, showing health notes or proof that you are immune.... What about HIPPA/privacy laws?  It's only a matter of time before someone sues the cruise lines saying that their private medical records shouldn't be a factor when it comes to their  vacation.

There are some great ideas in this thread. But Cruise lines have to start offering more public spaces and stop stuffing passengers in every square inch.  They have to start building smaller ships instead of 5000+ passenger ones. Crowds + lines = more potential for illness, no matter how well you clean a ship.

I know this goes against their business model.  Maybe the cruise lines are taking a "this too will pass" attitude with the hopes that all this is be a memory in a year or 2, and people will start cruising again.  And they may be right--who knows?

I had to cancel my 5/17 Med cruise.  I don't see myself taking another cruise within the next 12-18 months. I'll continue to monitor as well.

  2. I'm taking a Med cruise on Allure on 5/17 and I'm noticing a new upsell (at least new to me) -- the Key.

My last cruise was on Anthem in 2018 and it wasn't available back then.

I don't use the internet while I cruise (who wants the trip ruined by a bad email??) But the other perks do seem nice to have.

Is the key worth buying for my partner and I?

  3. My advice is keep checking every day. Prices can change even hourly. I am leaving 5/21 on Anthem 9-day cruise; Deluxe package was as high as 48/day. I purchased it at $45/day. Then, a week later it was down to $41/day--and I cancelled and rebooked at the lower price. I have not seen it offered at $41 again and I swear the price was available only for a few hours.

Same with the refreshment package--keep checking. It's usually $26; I got it for $18.

Keep in mind also that these prices do NOT include gratuity; that's added on in your shopping cart.

  4. Trying to see what cruises are available from May-Sept 2015 out of Bayonne. Normally there is the 9-day to the Caribbean on EOS, which I know will be in the UK after refurbishment. There are listings for 9 day cruise on Quantum of the seas until the end of April 2015 but nothing listed after that. Will quantum be staying in Bayonne? Or is another ship taking over? I can't believe RCCL wouldn't do the 9 day out of Bayonne in the summer. It's a very popular cruise for us East coast people!
