Was there a Captain's Club welcome event on your cruise? I sailed on February 11 and never got an invite to a Captain's Club welcome event. Got puzzled looks when I asked at Guest Services.

Yes. Captains Club Welcome Toast was 1st Sea day @ 12:30PM. Hors D’oeuvres and unlimited drinks.

Looking forward to following your Live From.

If you had a minute, would you ask how much the wifi for 1 day costs.  If you do not have the inclination or time with your family,  I understand.  Only if it is not too much trouble.

    On Solstice now. Premium = $34.99/day & Basic= $19.99/day.

Does anyone know who the cruise director will be on the Celebrity Eclipse Alaska 2022 cruises?

Sue Denning will be on the first Eclipse sailing post COVID on 4/23/22. I would imagine she will be staying for the Alaska season.

If I am understanding correctly, others have used the Rapid NAAT from a Walgreens drive thru for proof of a negative test for Celebrity. I was hoping to use this test as well but am concerned about the timing for my situation.

We are flying out on Friday, 4/22 and boarding the Eclipse on Saturday, 4/23. If I am calculating correctly, we should be okay to test on Thursday, 4/21 and still be within the acceptable timeframe for boarding on the 23rd.

Can someone confirm or tell me I am wrong with the testing timeframe above?

Do I need to worry about testing time on Thursday as I don't know yet what time we are able to board?

It doesn't matter either way to me, but does anyone know if this is covered by insurance or what the cost out of pocket might be for the Walgreens Rapid NAAT?

    Thank you so much!!!

Canada’s testing requirements are at odds with Celebrity’s. PCR on 4/21 will meet both, but Antigen would have to be taken on 4/22 or 4/23. See below from Canada.

    Cruise ships

Before boarding a cruise ship, you must take either:

    • a COVID-19 molecular test within 72 hours of their scheduled boarding time, or
    • an antigen test taken no more than 1 day before the scheduled departure

I just spoke with Celebrity and they told me that you are looking at a Nonrefundable fare. This is the only time that you cannot reprice a cruise after final payment has been made. Your cruise was booked originally as a refundable fare.

Anyway, I am going to submit the online form just for the fun of it, but I assume I will probably be out of luck.

I had the same situation and was told the same thing regarding refundable and non-refundable bookings after final payment. My TA had a refundable price that was less than my original booking and I received OBC for the difference, but Celebrity would not match the NRD price. I asked the TA and Celebrity for a copy of the fine print that explains the RD vs NRD issue, but no one can provide anything in writing. I agree with you that the “Best Offer Guarantee” is misleading.

So I just go to guest services to get a refund?

On the last night of your cruise you can go to Guest Relations and get a cash refund.  The advantage of that is you don't lose points on your credit card when the refund hits.  If you don't care about the points, you'll sometimes see the refund hit your card when you get to the airport, or for sure within a couple of days.

If I follow you correctly.  Some of us (many of us?) have OBC from the cruise line AND from a travel agent, if you use one.  I get the cruise line OBC when I put down a deposit.  I get the TA credit on my second day on board.  (This may not be the same for everyone.)  The cruise line OBC I can use for almost anything, dinners, excursions, etc.  I can't use it to buy "gifts" for myself.  Flowers, for example.

It's actually a problem for me because I go crazy booking everything before the cruise, including champagne dinners, Daniel Boulud dinner, *because* these can fill up before you get on board.  So I don't know what I will do with the OBC from the TA since I will probably book all my excursions before getting on the ship.

I might use the on-board OBC for a massage.  Maybe casino???

OBC from your TA is typically refundable, (OBR). If you don't use it, you'll see a credit to your credit card.

Celebrity matched current prices twice for my sailing in a few weeks.  I had a NRD.

Celebrity said if it was a NRD, then I could of matched the current NRD. The problem is that it's a TA group booking which are typically RD, which surprised me since I typically book NRD for the best price.

  9. I have a cruise booked after final payment and with a Refundable Deposit. Celebrity told my TA that they would provide OBC based on the current Refundable Price and would not match the NRD price. I've read all the small print I can find, but do not see any language pertaining to RD or NRD.

Does anyone have the small print that shows RD cannot get NRD rate after final payment?
