  1. Wow, I can see where this site gets its name with the emphasis on ‘critic’

All P&O have done is switch to a new version of their web-site, and of course there are going to be glitches...

Does it matter if a link to a restaurant on an adult only ship brings up a children’s menu?

Does it matter if you can’t see you Cruise history today?

Does it matter if you have lost you saved favourites?

If you have a problem, why not be constructive and send P&O a note, and I’m sure they will sort it out, even if it’s not today or tomorrow...

    Happy Cruising All

  2. I booked the cruise about a year in advance, and from memory I had to register an interest in going to the GP quite early on. I was then notified by email, that they were ready to book on my CP, again from memory this could well have been around Jan / Feb.

Logistically, I think they ask for the register of Interest, so they know how many tickets to buy, and once this is done, they put them on the CP.

I think 2016 was the first time they did the Monaco GP, so they have probably fine tuned their MO by now.

Any more Q's and I'm happy to help if I can :)

  3. Hi,

I did this in 2016 on Oceana, and it was very well organised. The 3 options were

    1. Transportation ONLY to and from Monaco, including picnic (You need to buy your own ticket in advance) - Approx £50 pp

    2. Above, but with general admission ticket

    3. Above, but with Grandstand ticket, at Tabac corner, so you can see cars come out of the tunnel thru to the Pool. (I did this)

The cost for 2 & 3, was approximately £50 pp more than just buying a ticket from the F1 web-site,

Note that you will get there early, so if you have a guaranteed seat (option 3), spend some time walking around outside the circuit to soak up the atmosphere, as once inside you are limited to what you can do,

    Hope this helps

  4. Hi Guys,

Thanks for the quick replies....and mum’s the word on the deck 12 laundry ;)

I think I will leave the Tux at home, it will be strange as apart from 3 NCL cruises, I have always taken one on the other 40+ cruises. Each to their own, but as I wear jeans and T’s to the factory every day, I have never minded dressing up on holiday.

Again, thanks for the quick comprehensive replies.

  5. With just a week to go on the cruise I booked a year ago, I have two questions, one from me and one from my wife.

    1. Is there a laundry onboard? FAQs mention them on the other 3 ships, but not the Explorer, so am assuming not.

    2. Would I look out of place if I were to wear Black Tie / Tux one night? The cruise is only 8 days, so no official formal evenings.

I don’t want other passengers asking me to get them a drink :D

    Many thanks,

  6. We will be on the Explorer next month when she visits Palma Mallorca. At he same time, Cunard's Queen Victoria will be in port, which is the ship our son works on.

As this is a small port we will probably be next to each other, and our son has arranged a tour for us on the QV.

Does anybody know if RSS will let us return the favour, and if so, who do I need to contact?

I know this isn't usually allowed, but as he would have his seaman's documents, this may be different?

    TIA

  7. I have 2 or 3 in mind, but will wait until on board Azura this Saturday, to take advantage of the low deposit, and extra OBC. These will then revert to my TA for the extra discount. I like to book early, but who knows what's around the corner and the £50 deposit is less than my insurance excess, so makes sense for me. Not to mention the extra few ££££s in my account for the next 18-24 months.

  8. I'd like some advice please.

I have noted how you all say it is best to book early for the best prices and although this is totally out of character for me I am taking your advice. However I don't understand the registration system. Do you all book before you know the exact price? Also is the registration price different from the price which is published after the launch, or will I be able to book a couple of days later and still get a good deal?

You will still get the same price a day or so after launch...So unless you MUST have a particular cabin, there is no real benefit to pre-registering.

I tend to book on opening day, as we have a few particular cabins we like, especially if it is for one of the less frequent cruises i.e. 35 days to Canada etc

  9. Is it me, or is this becoming a bit like Strictly?

Why don't they just come out with the itinerary and dates and be done with it, rather than send an email saying coming soon?

We will get the finer details in a week or so, and can then pre-register a week after that, and then books week after that.

  10. Hi,

Having been on many P&O cruises, my wife and I have never really used the Spa services, until our last two cruises on Arcadia, when we both enjoyed the Hydrpool package.

Our next two cruises are on Aurora and Azura, can anybody tell me if there is something similar on these ships? And if so, can the hydrpool be booked on its own, or only with 'Retreat' packages?

    TIA

  11. We booked with Planet cruise Bruce and they never informed us of the waiting list for the dining. I would have hoped for at least an upgrade to a better placed deck at the very most. On saver fare we have always had a nicely placed cabin. We have travelled with Princess recently and got upgraded despite we have never been with them before and they acknowledge your loyalty with P and O. Just think they would look after loyal passengers a bit better like Princess do!

In that case you should have an issue with Planet Cruise...I use a TA, and they always confirm Cabin NO - No Upgrade - Dinning - Flights (if applicable) - OBC etc., before pressing the final button.

  12. I think no matter what, it's the luck of the draw. It is the first time I have booked a select price and it will be the last! No cabin selection only the guaranteed cabin grade and no prefered dining either and still on a late sitting waiting list. We have benefited from a On board spend but that's all. P and O need to start treating their loyal customers better?

But, surely you knew all this when you booked? You seem you know the difference between the two fares. And when you booked 'select' you only had the option of a 'grade' rather than an exact cabin, and the fact that 2nd sitting was waitlisted would also have been flagged up.So you knew all this and still booked 'select'....Sorry, but I can't see why you appear to be upset with you decision...

  13. I, too have heard that in theory by booking a Select Fare you will be first in line for upgrades but have heard of those booking Saver Fares receiving upgrades when we have not had one by booking Select.I know it depends on what grade cabin you book etc but I suspect that P and O favour new cruisers or those who haven t sailed with them for a while. I would be interested to hear from people who cruise several times a year with them who have been upgraded, particularly moving from one cabin type e. g. inside to outside or Balcony to Suite.

    Ann,

I book 3 or 4 a year all in suites, and the majority are early bookings in 'Select'....A couple of years ago we booked a last minute 'saver' 4 nighter to take some friends on their 1st cruise (both in Dulux Balconies)...We were upgarded to a suite, and so where they.....

As for the earlier comment re dinner talk...This is something I detest and never start, but will admit to finishing;). If I think somebody is talking bollox, I then up the anti, and tell them I was upgraded from an inside to a suite and given £££s in OBC. ;)

I have also told them that I paid full price with no OBC, but so what...It was only £10k for the two of us, so nothing to worry about:D The latter tends to shut them up even more.....

So please don't believe anybody at the diner table.:D:D:D
